In the tradition of my 125 build, "take that, you rusty f@&ker!" :drunk: *Obviously i mean 'mostly', other than a few touch ups (and the inevitable forgotten or missed bit) including a couple i can see in these shots Next job, filler

  5. Pretty much i have just parked this thing up and let weeds grow through it I did however buy these about 6 months ago and chuck them at the back of the shed I pulled them out today and had a look (i didnt even open the box after buying them haha). They appear to be well made, totally brazed together too, i imagine this was put together by a tuning house. They were full of polystyrene and old dust so iv stripped the carbs down and will clean them out, some one has had #1 carb off, someone who doesnt know how to put an SU back together because there is a big washer under the jet spring which shouldnt be there, and the piston only returns halfway. one of the bowl float jigglers has been replaced with a screw (probably lost) other than that they are pretty good, i dont think they have been on a car for 30 years somethings not right with the choke situation, probably a part is missing or its a mix from two different set ups. I will probably just run off one choke for now/for ever, until i can be bothered getting the "correct" levers #dort #goes hard (why not the other set I made? wel they are in storage far away from me, and these are 1 1/8" carbs which will be more suited to the engine for now)

  6. Failed a warrant again, minor shizz but the bottom outer ball joint again. Had somehow started to to unscrew itself.. ended up buying a big socket to convert into a square socket, much simpler to tighten.. and easier than the bird shit I made previously. Should have done this right at the beginning, good thing is I can use it for the 929 as it runs the same suspension..

  9. they changed them in the late 40's i think * brass ones are heavy and don't need a piston spring neither of these have a spring. = Bloody SU's pieces of shit, cant ever get them to bloody run right etc and so on you can also play with the weight of them to get perfect running if you are super keen. I'm just going to put another alloy piston in and run springs

  10. Does that mean I'll be underneath it for the next few weeks to get it to run properly puhuhuhu. It will be epic. Keen!

  20. I just bought a pair of Eastwood ones off trademe. pretty good so far. gave them a hammering on some 1.2mm and they worked sweet. I might upgrade the screws that hold the jaws in as they are a little small and let it slip a touch but all in all im happy with them.

  23. they paid me for some of my time but no where near what it will take. i told them a very conservative time for me to do the work and they stiffed me for my trouble. don't let them talk you into doing the job yourself. find the most expensive shop you can and demand that the repairs get done there.

  24. You will have a Getrag 260, most likely a 260/5. Easy way to tell is the on the side on the gearbox near the clutch slave cylinder is a code that tells you. It should have a sheet metal type shifter. Jib05 on here has done a M50 swap with Getrag 260 in his E30, might be worth talking to him about what exactly you need to do.

  26. wow i need to do an update. the roof is white!!!! and my gears dont pop out and random times any more. this gear box has sincros in 1st which is amazing and also rather weird after been so used to coming to a complete stop to put it in 1st gear. any way. old 10/5 (mark) mates got married and a mate found a photo and was like how do you know them.... (i didnt) there photo looks rad they must be waving down a car cause it broke down or something... but i done a wedding as well il have to ask Mr West if he can do some stalking and see if he can get photos. turns out he knew the bride after seeing some more photos of my car.... im not going to rob a bank with this car everyone will know its me. any way i bumped into a dude at an auckland os meet. he had his ap5 regal there. got yarning and he was after some parts and i was after one of his hot wires. we exchanged numbers and just last weekend me made out. it kinda went like this. he showed me his bits i showed him mine. (turns out mine is broken. missing as screw in there) then we got really close together. we kinda got just laid next to each other for a while. and he stole some glass toys of mine (a couple of windows) i stole his 14 inch toy. (hot wire) and we now just exchange emails with raunchy photos of heater cores and pipes. now mine is fixed. lucky i hord valiants and slant 6 parts went into the boot of my spare shell which is in front on the good ap5 and looked at this stole its screw put that back in mine yesterday and drove it to work this morning. drove around doing all my pick ups in and and had some sweet smiles and thumbs up. think il just drive this heaps now. my holden is crap. by for now.

  27. My phone camera seems to be a bit dodgy, but even blurry photos are probably better than none: Pile holes for deck = dug. Look at my bitch. Ain't he fine? He's 6'4" BTW. I'ma keep him Retaining/deck pile posts = in With luck I can start framing out the deck next weekend. It'll probably take about 6 weeks until the deck is laid, but then there will be enough room to start on the framing for the actual cabin. I also need about a million pavers, and to build two sets of stairs... but that can wait a few weeks/months too

  32. Previous owner said it had an oil leak from the sump gasket which had managed to get oil all through the engine bay, I took a gamble that the sump seal is fine and it was the main seal that was the culprit and flicking it everywhere so took it to bits. Getting the radiator out was a cunt due to the mount setup but one it was out of the way getting the front of the engine off was easy except for cracking the crank pulley bolt Gross and oil everywhere Winner winner chicken dinner! The seal was hard and worn out with little to no contact with the crank pulley to hold the oil back Got the front cover off and replaced the seal then gave the enginebay a hell of a degrease I wasnt sure if the EFI manifold was going to fit the engine bay/clear the seat but a rough line up where it would sit and measuring the most forward high point on its roughly the same dimensions as the current carb and manifold, only bit that might be difficult is air intake off the throttle body needing a 90 degree bend coming straight off it

  34. Steering setup now back together and finished. Checking clearances and everything is good! Much chur. Steering column will be coming back out and Sam is coming in to paint the engine bay this weekend. I'll be striping the engine back and painting/detailing it this weekend as well. Cheers for looking. 35. Minor update. I've done a couple of things. Made a tow bar and found a nice piece of chain on the road that now lives on the bulldozer. Made a shifter so I can change between first and second in the auxiliary gearbox. It is much faster now especially in reverse. Fitted a new exhaust. Took it to some motor scooter thing. Then I towed some stuff and posed a bit. Does anyone else here get fizzed up about chainsaws?

  37. That's better. Cut a coil and a half of the springs then used my gas torch to bend the top half coil down so it sits flat Got autoline to shorten the shocks 35mm ($55 a side) Got new inserts as well as they were pretty nackered. Handles far better now. Turns in more responsively and its not to stiff. I did think about going lower but would have had to spend a lot more on inserts to match the higher spring rate. Since I'll go to coilovers at some point the money can be used else where. That and it is actually pretty low, maybe it's just the 13's don't fill the guards but I like the 13's as the car picks up well with the smaller radius while it's only got the 3A in it Drifts better, just need to lower and stiffen up the rear as the rear is now more floaty then the front. The list to date: Indicator relay New tires (Achilles 122 185/60/r13) Lower rear with new telescopic shocks Pull plastic's out and roll guards, sort any sill/pillar rust out Then re-do all the under body seal New carpet Possibly new rear demister

  39. Well, its about that time again 15 months in storage, I revived the old girl Tap the fuel pump a few times Fill with coolant Pop in my new electronic distributor And it fired right up, to a massive smoke screen as I burned off the Morey's in the cylinders Drove it around the house and everything seems fine. The car was moved and never put back on blocks, and a tarp put on it, so those marks will hopefully come out with a wash Il go get it and bring it back soon
