Threeonthetree Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Was reading an old magazine with Australian quarter mile times from a about three years ago. Saw an entry for 1972 Crown Coupe with a 1FZ-FE, having run a 10.23@140.56mph. This is the only link I could find in a thirty second search http://www.performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67218679 Quote

Alistair Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Read the whole thing, absolutely epic. Attention to detail for the information that was available to the restorers is impeccable. Quote
oldrx Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Only up to page 9 but to me the best thing about that thread is the discussion around whether an attempt to restore it should be launched to reverse obscenities committed against it or are they indeed part of its history and themselves be preserved. And if it is 'restored' (im guessing it is by above post) does that make it restored or a replica? And should a split window be sacrificed to save what is basically 'a decklid ,part of a roof and maybe the doors'. In general i think some aspects of previous atrocities of all projects should be retained as they are as much a part of the cars story as your future butchering.... Quote
zep Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Theseus' paradox right? Ship gets kept in good knick for years, but in doing so every part of it is eventually replaced. Is it the same ship? And if they used the old bits to build a new ship, which one is Theseus' original ship? Quote
BlownCorona Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Theseus' paradox right? Ship gets kept in good knick for years, but in doing so every part of it is eventually replaced. Is it the same ship? And if they used the old bits to build a new ship, which one is Theseus' original ship? had a high school teacher that swore he had a 200 year old axe, and he only had to replace the handle and the blade... also wanted to show his kids (non existent) his moon landing newspaper in exactly 100 years Quote
