  2. OK people. I nice day was considering the yucky weather. Fish and chips in picton followed by mass amount of swooning over so many sweet cars at Omaka classic car museum. Lets start with the fact I am in love. I fell in love as soon as I gazed into her eyes. all four of them. Then I spotted her beautiful hips. Her feisty demeanor had me intrigued and made me want to slip inside her and caress all the 90's buttons. Oh Italian girls.. you make me happy. I want more.... Moving on lads... And back to a more realistic proposition of car ownership.. or this.. Just a twink esky sitting about.. But with an Oldschool sticker! Who? For Neal.. Hannah and I want this. I asked. It is for sale. One old lady owner! So cool. Calling KK!!!.... Indiana... Can I just pop my jag in this afternoon and get you fellas to change the plugs?.. For Roman Dave...

  3. The building in this photo is still standing. I drive past it from time to time. It's abandoned, and in a very poor state of repair. The building next to it has been recently demolished so it seemed like a good idea to get some photos before it gets pulled down. It was a fucking miserable day in Christchurch today but we still managed to get 8 Speedy Cycles together at the same time. One of them even belonged to one of the riders in the original photo. Here's some sweet old bike photos. PINE!

  5. Got my manifold back and sitting on the car which got me pining. Started fitting the body looms back in the car then found that the drive shaft I gave away was the one I had set up for the car and forgot I removed it so that sucks. Also fitted up a steering wheel from an unknown year corona coupe (gift from my cuzzy) which looks good.

  6. so. after a BUNCH of fucking around and getting dicked for a few items that should have been covered by insurance i finally got a payout to fix my blue car. without wasting everyones time with details the result was that the insurance company would pay for a new gearbox, a secondhand engine and a few sundries. so i bought this, 2016-06-11_09-35-36 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-11_09-35-29 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-11_09-26-57 by sheepers, on Flickr 2J short block, gasket set, new oil pump and a new R154. if i hadn't of just sold the red car i wouldn't be able to afford this and i would have had to buy a second hand 1J. but i have just sold the red car so its splurge on shit time! I've also bough a new manifold which ill post some pics of when it gets here but its pretty special. now its time to put it all back together and make some mods along the way. should be interesting when its back on the dyno…….

  8. An udder week Firstly super thanks to beaver, who was bored so gave me a hand with a few things today. Anyway been a bunch more cleaning and painting and messing around. not much more painting to do, just wrinkle finish the top of the intake, but, really need to get my inner guards painted. keep tossing up between spraying them with some cans and hope they turn up ok, or paying some painter for a perky to use some of the black chassis paint we have kicking around work either way I'm getting to the point where something needs to happen sooner than later, but yeah, also got the ECU mounted, with a lovely bracket beaver fabbed up, and wired in the vac solenoid for the intake flappers. Anyway, fun. Not sure how this week is going to go. have dinner out two nights this week which cancels out how two nights of progress but its worth it.

  9. Time for another Raizer's shit van update! Got onto changing the carb today, first step was to give the new carb a bit of a clean, bit of diesel, brake cleaner and a toothbrush equipped slave helper got 27odd years of crap off it. While he was doing that I started removing the Mikuni and assorted crap The gasket had gone around what I thought was the EGR port and it was leaking a lot of oil?? /Not sure WTF that much oil is doing in the EGR/if that slot is even the EGR port?? New manifold has the mount for the EGR valve cast on it, but no passages for it at all. All 4 inlets had a bit of what almost felt like 2T oil sitting in them?? While it was still off the engine I changed all the vacuum lines on the new carb, glad I did as most of them either weren't tight on there fittings or crumbled when I went to pull them! My boy swapped over the thermostat and water neck, tried to change the temp sender but snapped the one in the new manifold off, bit of drilling and we used a hex bit as an EZout to get the remains out. Fitted up the pump, inlet etc, wired up the anti-diesel solenoid and blocked off that vent on the new carb and also the remaining line from the old emissions shit. Stuck the dizzy back in it's hole with a new rotor, splashed some gas down it's throat and it fired up first crank, stuttered while the pump filled the bowl, then idled perfectly. Refilled the coolant, set the timing to about 8° and jobs a good 'un. Feels SO MUCH BETTER to drive, no hesitation, smooth idle, sure feels like the secondaries open and yeah it's just all around better! Just need to sort out an idle-up for the AC, just need to find a 12v push solenoid, apparently both Holden and Ford used these on carby engined cars with AC so will keep an eye out at the wreckers etc. Ended up with a nice little pile of shit left over too haha Still more vac solenoids and brackets etc in shit to reach spots to come out too! SCA only listed the full Fuelmiser rebuild kit, would have been super keen on a $30 kit!! It used to be about $50-60 trade price for a full fuelmiser kit from BNT back in the day, yesterday Ripco wanted about $180 for one that had been on the shelf for years, SCA $106. Don't seem to need one now though, had just wanted to strip and fully clean the carb before fitting it.

  10. Thought I might as well finally make a build for my car. I bought this MX5 as a rolling shell to replace my one which I wrote off at a drift day. Purchased as a rolling shell, the paintwork was pretty rough, had a cracked screen, no interior except a dash and steering column. First job was to get the windscreen removed so i could get a spare one installed. After removing the dash to get access i cut the screen out using a stanley knife then discovered why it had cracked. Found a small rust patch going up the entire side of the windscreen, so had to grind that out and prep it before getting AALAWS to install the new screen. Next thing was to swap all the rear panels, polybushed arms and the 7" torsen diff. Then was on to removing the engine and gearbox (Standard 1600 with 6 puk clutch and 5 speed) after cutting out the damaged section of chassis to make things easier. While the motor was out I took the opportunity to install the turbo drain. More to come, just trying to keep posts shortish

  11. When I lived in Chch and had Fiats all the time my wof man/mechanic would give me his Integrale as a loan car if I asked nicely. He had a couple of different ones he lent me, including his race one. They are genuinely amazing cars, I will own one one day Edit; a pic of one in my driveway.. Swooooon.....

  14. Not much time this weekend, had a footy road trip, but did make up a jig to hold the trans on my bike lift. Coupla bits of waste ply and some 45 x 19 moulding... and this is shaped to fit the pan, weight bearing on the bolts around the edge... And she sits beautifully, should make it real easy to mate up to the engine... Too hungover to do anything else, but getting there...

Hi OS Some more shit pics for CDL Spent Sat trying to find the best solution for panniers and ended up with this Not very large. but with one on each side i figured i would stack stuff ontop like a rack. I think they are a nice proportion for a small bike. Only had a few hours today as I had to make a new exhaust for the Carib, progress so far The frame is removable at the shock mount for urban off roading etc SLURP SLURP

  17. R154 was about 3K so not much difference in price to their listings on TM. would i still recommend swan? well, yes. I'm pretty fucked off with parts of the process but i can see where they are coming from and why things had to happen how they did. they are going to get reparation from the mongrel piece of shit that stole it so they had to document everything in a way that could stand up scrutiny in court. the third party mechanical assessor is the person who needs a fucking bullet. he "was a mechanic for years mayte so i know what I'm looking at" but i reckon theres a really good reason he's not a mechanic anymore. would you put a motor back together with a second hand cam belt? would you use a second hand clutch throw out bearing that had obviously had some serious abuse? especially if its going to cost you twice if you have to remove the whole engine to replace it if its fucked? lts of shit like that that really boiled my piss. was that swans fault? i suppose not but they did have the option to take precautionary measures with the mechanical damage which they chose not to. if anything goes wrong with the abused parts that i have been forced to reuse you can bet ill be nominating the most expensive workshop in this country to do the work required to replace it all and that will be solely at their expense.

  20. Finally after moving all my cars into a workshop and not a 40ft container i can get some work done after a slow 9 months of 40ft dungeon hell. Car will be going for a WOF next week and should make it to hamner this year despite being a year behind schedule.

  21. It's not quite dead - it'll still run, just no oil pressure at idle -> 1200rpm then a sweet knock beyond 2500 rpm.... In all seriousness - can I bring it out to your place tomorrow night? Hoist will be inevitably needed/paid for use of! I have swindled a car trailer for the evening and a DOHC ZC motor (the same one that's in the CRX you mention above!) is actually looking like a semi-sensible replacement!

  22. Just had a nosey through the wiring diagram All the stuff in red is going to be removed, which is mainly the indicator auto cancel (they stay on for too long so I always cancel them manually and it gets rid of a box that I'd have to hide somewhere) and the oil tank level warning circuit (premix so is pointless). There is a resistor on the feed to the coils which will also be removed for the new ignition system.

  31. So after a long weekend i shoulve ripped into this,i planned to but nothing happened other than pushing it outside for a wash.I have been in touch with the certifier in chch and told him that i would like to notch out the cross member,he has told me to go through the LVVTAs design approval process. So this weekend il be drawing up pictures of what i want to do and hopefully they come through and say i can do it.I have fitted the ms112 swaybar which is slightly longer than a ms65 one but it has the bend in it i need to clear the engine, also 16mm spacers needed to be made for it to line up.

  32. Bit of an overdue update, Finally got her wof and rego sorted! And shes able to retain the black plates too. Today I had a go at polishing up a wheel, what an improvement! Only 4 more to go... Not much else has been changed but I hope to get into the bigger things soon. I'm on the lookout for a drivers seat and a rear bench seat. Also need to get that clarion radio sorted.

  33. Been sorting lots of fittings, screws etc to go to the zinc plating man. Spent ages researching the correct type of screws and what washers etc go on them. When I pulled the car apart it was a real mishmash of odd size screws and head types so have now got all that sorted. Once the front of the car is back on I'll check the holes in the body work are all the correct size and fill and redrill if too big

  34. Got some shed time in yesterday avo......Stripped the roof/coated in Keyphos - great stuff! Just wipe it on and it stops any surface rust forming. And no I haven't primed the inside - that's just the new layer of bog dust EVERYWHERE. SO MUCH DUST! Only one small dent under it all which was nice. I had two coats of the gunmetal grey, a layer of spray filler in spots and some red primer (didn't see any original green up there) to remove, and even after scuffing the paint with some 60 grit, applying the stripper and wrapping it in plastic, I find I have to do it 2/3 times in some spots, and very thickly......is this normal? I seem to spend HEAPS of time on the grinder with the strip disc too, thought the stripper would be more potent.....I'm using TERGO STRIP. Also bought a 'dremel' from the warehouse to do the niggly bits around the doors and apertures. With the $$ i'll have to spend on the body work, it's cool to be able to get as much done as I can myself.

  37. so the car has just come back from Greg's where it has had a full cut and polish. its pretty much done now. there are two things left to do, adjust the door glass so it seats in the rubber s better and paint the rear badge. thats it. its done. hard to believe really but it is. the new owner has joined OS and will be involved in OS events for the future so imi sure you'll see the car around. for what could be the last post by me in this thread here are some bad photos of trying to show how fucking amazing it looks after polishing. 2016-06-08_06-43-53 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-44-17 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-44-30 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-44-51 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-06-08_06-45-03 by sheepers, on Flickr

  39. Hey guys ! Again another slow update lol . Gee Wizz this year has gone quickly !! Unfortunately this year my partner n I are saving for a house so any progress on car has become rather slow Cars been running like a dream had an awesome time at the kemeu hotrod show last year even tho it was a hotrod show old school still got a lot of love ! Only photo I took Car didnt get used alot of new year period I spent it over in the gold Coast n bloody loved it all going well will be moving over next year to have a Crack anyway .. I decided I wanted some more power out of the car so started hunting down someone with an 18rgeu to take the efi bits off . After searching on a lot of forums I finally reached a guy in Aussie and came to an agreement so off they were sent Couple weeks later it turns up !! So I begin to label so I'd remember how to put it back together n had it taken to get acid dipped. All clean ! Brought some 460cc rx7 single feed injectors After some research I found the sr20det echaust manifold was literally 2-3mm out from the 18rg exhaust flange so brought a sr20det turbo manifold n t28 turbo... Will cut the sr20det flange off and weld a 18rg flange onto it . Auto bend sell the flanges in steel for $88 bucks. Turbo has no play but will get it looked at by a professional n rebuild it If needed. Still a few more bits needed . Link g4 atom ecu . Fuel lines suitable for e95 all the turbo plumbing etc will be slow but there's no rush ... cars off the road n rego is back on hold I had an awesome time down at old school nationals and was so fun meeting you all !! Car ran beautifully expect for battery moving and positive shorting out on radiator Lucky next to no damage just a burnt earth wire phew How engine bay currently sitting OS Nats photos ANAND +! Was fully not expecting this but the old girl won best sedan so thanks everyone Lil things like this make it all worth it Was an awesome weekend . Bit of a struggle to move around due to a work accident a couple weeks prior Haha nothing a few beers couldn't fix chur Thanks for looking

  40. Cleaned up all the sharp edges and went back to bare steel on the important glued faces then painted everything in epoxy. Finally glued into place. There's also rivets top and bottom where they can't be seen. The washers were glued onto the new panel so that the two edges were easy to align.. I'll knock them off when the glues dried and all the rivets are in.

  44. And tried for 300 degrees by plugging all unused ports and heating at full blast from both ends, then had an oops... Who knew that cotton rags would burn at 300 degrees...? And with new rag plugs, got up over 300 surprisingly, didn't hold it for 30 minutes however due to fire risk and my good gun starting to melt, so we'll see how it goes... While things were cooling I sprayed the drippy air cleaner again, typically got bugs on the bit I'd just done so it'll probably look worse than if I'd left it... And even after that the headers were still hot as I hung them in the shed. No idea if this'll work or not, the temp control was a bit random, but the paint is definitely stuck on better than when I started, also got a few marks where the pipes were laying on the cardboard edges. Worse case I'll just spray some more on once the engine is sorted, and cook them according to instructions in place, an interesting exercise anyway...

  45. more of this, 2016-04-24_10-11-19 by sheepers, on Flickr resulted in more progress. namely fixing the ever shit handbrake mounting plate. celicas came from the factory with this bit fucked. I've never seen one that wasn't rooted. anywho, i welded some bits of flat bar into the floor to give it some strength and stop the handbrake from coming out of the floor. 2016-04-24_11-26-35 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-24_11-28-28 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-24_01-15-49 by sheepers, on Flickr there was also a massive hole cut in the floor for some reason so i made a panel that i can then attach a boot to to cover it up. 2016-04-24_05-10-57 by sheepers, on Flickr the other things i did today include welding up a small hole in the exhaust, cutting the rear muffler off to see how it sounded (loud, very loud) and changing the oil in the gearbox. yes, i changed the oil in the gearbox. i replaced the air that had previously been used to lubricate the gears with oil which has been a massive step forward in shift feel and quietness. i recommend oil in gearboxes, not air.

  46. Installed a classic radio due to popular demand. The newer pioneer will be installed in the lower tray area. Might be able to see it in the picture. Putting a classic radio in required most of the dash to be taken apart, resulting in a bigger job than I wanted it to be!
