  5. +1 Dayfe the master One last shitting up the thread A long, long time ago I can still remember how that rota used to make me smile And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those apex seals dance And maybe they'd be happy for a while But February made me shiver With every nanging I'd deliver Bad news on the temp gauge It couldn't take any more jandal I can't remember if I cried When I heard them pingin gillies go quiet But something touched me deep inside The day the rota died

  6. You got a fast car It'll get a ticket to anywhere Maybe it needs water seals Maybe together we hook Os somewhere Any temp is better Starting from zero got nothing to lose Maybe we'll overheat something Me myself I got nothing to prove ~Tracy Brapman

  8. been doing lots of little bits and pieces. finished painting the last of the engine bay bits. these bits are the oil filler cap, the support bracket between the intake and the cam cover and the radiator over flow bottle. so now those bits are on the car and the overflow is plumbed up. the only thing left to do in the engine bay is plug in the windscreen washer pump and run a hose for the windscreen washers. I'm pretty sure thats all? I've started on the dash resurrection now. all the plastic dash bits had been painted with some crap paint so I've had to very carefully bead blast them all and give them a coat of VHT plastic dye. they've come up looking really good but one of the parts that always cracks on celicas had cracked and someone had tried to fix it but they made the plastic deform around the break so now I've glued it back together but it looks shit. what else? the dash pad ill be putting in this car will be the one out of the V8. it was re-covered in auz about 15 years ago and it looks fine but I'm getting a dash fully redone at dashboard restorations and ill put that into the V8 and use the V8 dash in this car. all the hearer box is back in and I've put new foam seals on all the joints. 'oh, and I've got new inner and outer belt line seals for this car and they just turned up today so i can put them on as well. oh and also I've found someone in auz with an original pair of seat belts that they are willing to sell so they are on their way too. 2016-04-07_06-51-00 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-07_06-51-46 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-07_06-52-02 by sheepers, on Flickr 2016-04-07_07-00-13 by sheepers, on Flickr

  10. So I got the brake line adapters to go from the VT master cylinder to VL lines from Stirling brake and clutch up here in dorkland, Fitted: No gravity fed leaks as yet!! I then decided to do the rest of the V8 brake upgrade Old 270mm setup New: Just needs to be bled up now. Apparently the 290mm V8 calliper and rotors with the VS booster and VT master, is a great upgrade over the shitty non turbo 6 cyl 270mm setup which is good because it was scarily bad haha Hopefully will find the motivation tomorrow night to re kit the p/s pump and mount that and the lines.

  11. It's a better idea than doing everything by hand! The main use has been for the rockbreaker, but soon I'll need my dropsaw up there too. Carrying the rain water tanks is going to be a bit of humour (when I get that far) Our pioneering forefathers were tough bastards. I'm a sook

  16. On a South Auckland highway, cool wind in my hair Warm smell of my engine, rising up through the air Cop stop in the distance, I saw the shimmering lights Threw out my bevvy and my lights turn dim I had to keep out of sight Temp went colder than Norway; I think compression fell And I was thinking to myself, "This tang could be heaven or it could be Hell" Then I gave it the Jandal, my tires went away I had my foot right to the floor, I hope my seals Stay... 26. 3 days till gumboot rally Marc from Marcs Automotive Electrical came back around last night and we are FINISHED. starts stops charges all the dash lights work. All thats left to do is a wheel alignment fit the dash cluster and change the thermostat. the classic thing is the fans are louder than the motor its classic. and it has a nice quiet exhaust as well so on the long trips it wont be annoying. Im wrapped all the work is about to pay off

  30. Took Maggie down to the Beach Hop over the weekend. Ran like an champ the whole way - only issue was the gross old heater hose finally gave up (nothing a quick trip to ripco couldn't fix). Got plenty of love despite having half the number of cylinders. Cool to see a few familiar OS faces too. The cops decided she didn't have room for 4 people across the back...

  31. That's awesome information thanks everyone. I'm wiring in a link, so plan to use the canbus with an ODB2 Bluetooth adapter to an android tablet, at this stage i'm going to keep things simple and just put a couple of LED's on the dash for high beam and indicators failing. Since it's been confirmed i don't need an odometer that makes life a lot easier.

  33. replace that rock breaker with a couple of irish immigrants, a sledge hammer and a chisel. would still need to lug up a sack of potatos but. You could move in already, just string that tarp over the floor pics of view from your future porch?

  35. WRT a secluded bush hut... don't forget that I am old. I've wanted one since I was a kid... but only now do I have the tools, money, and (arguably) skills to make it a reality. My biggest frustration is my lack of time. I wish I had more, but I don't. It was never a dream to have such a hut, but still I'm fizzing at the bunghole about it. ☺

  37. Wow, I admire your dedication but actually lugging a generator up there seems like a really bad idea!

  38. If you had reticulated electricity you could set up an array of floodlights to work into the night. /just lug a generator up there.

  40. Nanging it was like throwing a big big stick at a hive of bees. Carbon lock headaches Wrong premix for days Broken axles happening so suddenly Driving it was like trying to do the 1/4 when your already swinging sweet o's. Like justbtryna get home before you get pulled by the 5-0. Doing skids was just fun like all the time Popping tyres left me stuck down town all alone.... Brapping it is like driving a normal car; until water seals blow..

  41. if we have things like doubler plates to inspect, its best/ cheaper if you do any work you can to make the inspection easier, ie if i have to do any disassembly etc, then we would be charging for that time. i generally avoid doing any work on customers cars wherever possible for a couple of different reasons. no point paying me $125 an hour to undo seat bolts and remove carpet if you can do it
