So yeah, Had an epiphany. It dawned on me that it could possibly be a blocked exhaust header.... Popped the old exhaust back on. And hey presto. 10 grand all day! Closer investigation of the old exhaust showed that they have an inner and an outer, and the inner had crushed in and was blocking the offending cylinder 98%. Another cylinder was about 50% blocked. So spent last weekend prepping it for a WOF and taking it for a hoon. Runs super happy. Does good burnouts too.... So yeah, wof this weekend then ride the shit out of it for summer. So much more pep than my GP125. haha The dumb thing is i wont be able to run the sweet pipes.6 points

oh jesus. What've I done? Blake hooked me up with the dealz on this. 1953 series one 80". 80s are apparently super SUPER rare now, and this one's an ex army one which is pretty cool. His mate Dazza's old man has had this in his backyard for about 20 years. last wof was 1995/96? anyways, sorted a deal and collected it tonight. left a trailer of rust from wanganui (literally, this thing is rainin' rust from teh chassis) everything's fucked. engine is a 186 holden that'd had a full rebuild and covered about 6000miles on CNG before parked. Run a few times since then but whatevz Pretty much that's all I want from it. Will do a few bits and pieces on it then slot it into the 109 when I get to the end of the clutch in that thing's life (slips a little now and then now so will prolly be toward winter next year) has widened steels and super lush (albeit perished a little) 750-16 crossply wranglers. must've been some super rowdy tyres back in the day. hilarious!4 points

Threw down some seam sealer, glued the floor to the sides (Yes this is how it was done in the factory) and also put some on the under side of the rear flares/lip. Shit job to get under there and do it, especially with the diff still in. If the clear 2k sealer I sprayed throughout the van last week didnt get it, this seam sealer sure will.3 points

How about we do it like this. Gift wrap your "gift" and on the night your gift will be assigned a number, as will you (so have two piles of numbers). Put all the gifts in a pile and your number is drawn, and that's the gift you get. Just gotta be careful that you don't get assigned the same number as your gift. Also makes it super easy to organise. Also, I'm in for secret santa.3 points

I think you need to put on the front left had side wheel: "I HAVE WRITING" and on the rear left hand side wheel: "ON MY TYRES". Then obviously reverse order for the RHS2 points

Control box almost complete, almost as I couldn't find any 6 pin plugs like the other ones I used locally so they'll have to go on later, I'll just stuff a grommet in the hole for now. This houses the ECU, Battery, a little servo trickery and a whole nest of wires. Ended up being a lot bigger than I imagined it to be as the die-cast boxes jump from just a tiny bit too small to way to big. I ended up placing it directly over the turbine for a couple of reasons being that if the turbine decides to let go it has another barrier to get through before it hits the rider, also it helps protect the turbine if I fall off. Nearly done!2 points

Nice surprise at work this morning, Rimmers had delivered! I only managed to get the manifold gasket, exhaust manifold and bottom gasket on before the rain started! Black powder coat looking better than rust already. Decided to give the air intake Flexi hoses a bit of a scrub whilst inside with nothing to do.2 points

Finally have the pump assembly together, this fits inside the a cavity in one end of the fuel tank Fuel Pump, Solenoids and Filters for both Fuel and Propane start. I had zero luck trying to find a good set of rims that weren't past it with rust so I bought this bike just for the wheels, Felix picked it up for me in CHCH and he reckoned it was too good to tear down so I decided to get the whole bike shipped to Akl which ended up being the right thing to do.. Thanks to the help of Felix and the good chaps at Mainfreight for the shipping, this wee baby turned up at work. I think I've accumulated 6 frames now, so I hope to get the other 3 up and running for the family beach house, I'll keep this one up to spec so I can go for a ride iith the kids and totally knacker them out! Annoying kids? no problem!, just flick a switch and blast away with Acme Jet Cruiser...2 points

and then i painted it. got rid of all the shit that was on the roof jut to make sure there was no nasties hiding under there. found a couple of patches of bog straight on the steel that were rusting so i got rid of that. then, paint. 2015-12-06_12-33-39 by sheepers, on Flickr 2015-12-06_01-26-47 by sheepers, on Flickr 2015-12-06_01-26-57 by sheepers, on Flickr 2015-12-06_01-27-06 by sheepers, on Flickr2 points

after finishing the sunroof patch in the TA23 i put the driveshaft back in this car. Aiden replaced the front cross because it was a bit notchy and it wasn't a genuine toyota one, he also re-shimmed the back uni to take out a bit of play and its fucking magic. so much better. its like silk. you don't even know your doing a skid. choice.2 points

thank you. and yea, its great to have a mate who can fix things when they get beyond me (read - when i fuck things up). What he doesn't know about forming panel steel isn't worth knowing. without his help i would be seriously fucked. as for time and money, well im very lucky that my wife allows me to spend so much time in the shed (my secret is to make such a pain in the arse out of myself when i am in the house that she's more than happy for me to fuck off out to the shed) but the money bit aint so flash..........2 points

Yes, peddle is mounted to chassis and comes up through the floor, there is a rod from under the peddle to under the seat into the box thing with the master cylinders on it, common hotrod thing to do.1 point

Arts and crafts time again! Something that was bothering me for ages is the N emblem on the front was all faded out. Picked up some basic model/craft paint during the week and thought I'd have a poke about and get it looking nicer. Turns out it looked way nicer just with a bit of a clean with some solvent.. but still not vivid enough for me. It took me ages to work out how I was going to do it with masking off so I could minimise the paint on the chrome. Ended up making a hash of it anyway but this is the first lot I did, and that turned out all good. Then this is the second lot and I couldn't figure out how to mask the inner bits so just gave up and made a mess. Quite a bit of the paint seemed to bleed through that paint tape but I managed to clean up the majority of it afterwards with some ear bud things and solvent. Finished product.. it's not super sharp around the edges but stand a few feet away and she's magic. Just brings that bit of something to the front where it was all silver/black before. Next I have to figure out the best way to refurbish the 2000GT badge on the front.. or maybe just leave it off for a while because I realised painting is quite hard. Also the front lip bugs me. I'm pretty sure it's warped somehow but it is flat on the bottom so hard to tell. Oh well, problem for another day. Some recent photos I took: Also scored some 15x7 ABT wheels with all center caps and tyres for really cheap so I will be restoring those to go on. I will be polishing the lips and painting the centers the same anthracite grey that the wheels on my E28 are. Currently on the 180 grit stage.1 point

Nice job! God quality timber is the stuff dreams are made off! I have worked on my shed solid for the last 3 weeks + even on the evenings with southerlies blasting into the shed . . . . Some proper cold ones. . . . and ''still better than watching TV'' is what motivates me also!1 point

Thank you for the encouragement everyone. Here's tonight's glueing and screwing efforts. There's lots of sanding still to come as I've made a few mistakes, but it's still better than watching TV1 point

I took the longest bits of elm and made them a pretty shape. Now that this 'picture framing' is done I just have to finish cutting up the rest of the elm to make a top. Perhaps in May Most of the rest of it looks shit, but if you squint a bit this corner looks OK1 point

More for shits'n'giggles really. Been asked what speeds to expect out of this with wild expectations , some of these jets will do 500kph+ on a plane, would be lucky to get 50k's on a bike though, possibly more with pedalboosttm. Lots more weight to push about and loads of friction to overcome. Its a mid sized unit with almost 15kg of thrust, bigger ones are available , up to 40kg at present.1 point
