  1. so this happened again so found a new "high performance" one to go in also it looked like the trans to hanger bearing angle was a bit off and probably not helping (not sure why when the engine is sitting slightly lower? as that should put it off the other way) so put in a new trans mount (old one was oil soaked and soft) and still looked off so cut and it shut it to add 10mm which also gets the back of the head some firewall clearance rather than the bees dick that it had. also got some new shoes 225/50/14 R888s mostly because they were the only cert legal tyre I could find to fit a 14x8 that was not a giant balloon/too tall

  3. New shell, new thread. purchased this gx61 with a 1ggte with a blown head gasket, parted out all the things i didnt need or already have. got rid of the sportmaxxs and sat it on something a bit more worthy whilst i went on holiday purchased some new old stock wheels while in japan (big ups to my mate josh for helping me carry them on the train) had pine engineering take them from 6" A type to 8" up front and 9" in the rear which brings me to today, car is currently a rolling body, i will tidy up the engine bay and set up the wiring and radiator for the 2jzge +w55 setup from my rx60 cressida and then swap everything over including the coilovers and give the interior a damn good clean.

  8. Decided to just paint the bumpers with the gloss paint and see how they come out. It seems to look alright. So it can stay like that. Fender mirrors make it look so much better too.

  10. Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49007-sirges-1969ish-honda-n360/ So I've finally embarked on my own journey of owning a classic car. Been wanting to do something in the much simpler world without luxury items such as retractable seat belts (Who really needs them anyways?) So a few months ago with my partner after we picked up our '81 Leyland Mini (Unsure if will do build thread for this too), decided to go to a place called Horopito. I'd heard of it before and people have told me there's just lots of old cars and potentially some pretty cool finds. While we were there I found some new wheels for the daily and also spotted this hidden little white Honda N360. Before I left I expressed some interest and they said they'd be happy to sell. Cool. After another couple months and a few phone calls I arranged for myself and a mate to go up with a couple trailers and pick up this little beast (A couple trailers required as they said I could have the free wreck that they had on site too). Headed up last week and stayed at brother-in-laws's place overnight for the long trip on Saturday. Couple photos the cars loaded up with the N360's Sorry potato photos below, think I smudged my phone camera lense. After an exciting trip home with not a fault in the world, such a lucky trip. We off load the car onto my driveway and I shoot off to drop the hire trailer off. Dropped it off at 4.30 (Y) Bang on time, couldn't have done it better (Only had hire trailer for 24 hours). Put a tarp over the wreck as there's holes in the roof and left it for the night.

  12. Bare bones. Have this AS3 / RD125 frame; And these; And a I have a RD125 engine (just no pics yet.) Just need some other bits. Think I have the tank sorted, I am going to remove factory airbox / clear out triangle section of crap, run on premix and fab up a seat. Need a headlight, front fork staunchions etc. etc. Not 100% on what direction to take. Just want it light and loud I had a Yammy LS2 100cc twin two stroke not that long ago and loved it for fanging around town. I miss it. Ideas?

  13. Managed to the the old girl out to the Hamilton monthly meet last Thursday. Unsurprisingly the car handled much better with air in the tyres Also replaced the windscreen rubber in the weekend. I have also removed the bumpers to take them to Onehunga Electroplaters to get a few dings out and add some sparkle.

  15. Hey man. Put another factory box behind it. I can not imagine that a gearbox would shit itself because of just a few psi in extra boost. It was probably abused to hell

  19. I guess perception is a big thing here I think maybe slightly on the expensive side for this, but realistically for how complete it is and how good condition it is, it's probably a bargin. (When compared with how cheap others have gone for and their condition)

  27. I also found with my Tomtom that the maps are so freaken out of date, even the latest maps are missing heaps of roads. It doesn't even have my mate's road in gissi and their house was built about 5 years ago. Not to mention mine only had the 3 month map update garauntee and no updates till just after that magic 3 months lapsed and then they wanted me to pay over $100 to update it. So my advice is get a unit that has free lifetime map updates (most Navmans do now) and use google maps to find all the cool shit, grab the address, and just punch that into your gps if you want to use one. I only use it on long trips now otherwise it's google maps erryday.

  34. Have been through cert with airbags recently. Don't think there is anything in the rules about compressors - I only run one (engine driven). In fact I don't think you need to have a compressor at all as the rules provide for using a high pressure supply (e.g. dive bottle) to the air bag tank. You need to have an external fill valve on the tank as well. Mine is just driveable when aired out, but can't turn at full lock. Book says "Must have adequate clearance between the wheels and tyres and suspension or bodywork at any stage of suspension travel" Certed by Andy Smith in Levin. The airbag section of the HCTM is online http://lvvta.org.nz/documents/suplementary_information/HCTM_SAMPLE_Chapter-6_Suspension%20Systems_airbag-hydraulics.pdf

  36. I have done nothing with this bike for months. I was thinking about selling it even and started cleaning it up last week. Shot home for lunch today and the sun was shining so I pulled the cover off and to my surprise it fired straight up. Ran like an absolute dog for a while but when I got onto the motorway it cleared and went really well all the way to work. A few people at work have commented on how awesome it is. Perhaps I shouldn't sell Perhaps it just needs more awesome. Like rearsets. Better brakes. And a WOF, I'd prob ride it heaps more if it had one of those haha

  38. Chipping away, nearly finished. Lots of little bits done. Mud flaps, half done tail lights, safety chain, decent pins for each end of the ram, most of the table top welded on, and a hydraulic tank that was a LPG cylinder. The tank was quite a bit of work, It has a removable top so I could get inside it and clean and paint it inside so no grit or welding splatter goes through the pump. It also mounts the return filter. If I did it again I'd do it a bit differently. So it goes. Everything's plumbed up, pump is mounted and it works! Well even. There's a couple of things to do yet, the Chinese ram has a pin hole in a weld and leaks oil, there's a couple of braces and guards to make, and wire up some tail lights. Then it's all go.

  39. It's ALIVE! After sending the Z to Speedwell in Hamilton to get the carbs looked at, she's purring like a kitten. The old boy said all the needles were gunked up from stale fuel and the slides were stuck. Looking all snazzy in the fresh air. Also gave the radiator a proper flush and got a nice tray of gunk out. Might have been helpful to jack her up to get the tray under a bit more... Tinkle time! I really like this photo haha a little accident. To do list: -Shocks -Windscreen rubber -Exhaust and muffler -High stop light? -Sort out slow voltage discharge

  41. Oh, I forgot to show y'all something else: I wanted to replace the super hard original water squirty tubes that run from the washer bottle to the jets to clean the windscreen, so looked around and found an old IV line my dad brought home from work. It actually fit perfectly haha I also had a nosey in the back and found the original jack and toolkit (may not be original tools but look old enough) in their super secret drug smuggling hatches behind the seats:

  42. Greets Amigos, Since last update, The gearbox is back in with new clutch assembly, frost plug and crank seal. After that, we looked into the brakes which were bled for maybe 45 mins before all the air was out (hopefully). The rusty old pressure plate Shiny new clutch plate Also installed this weekend are four new heater hoses and a pertronix electronic ignition system which was suspiciously easy to install... one of the hoses ripped to bits as I took it off so probably worth the time it took to replace them. Heater hoses are my new pet hate! Awkward little suckers to get to but worth replacing since they are the 40yr old originals. Also installed were a new inner and outer shifter boot I got from the states. Now she's going to Speedwells in Hamilton to sort out the carbs and get her running properly. Currently only one carb is working so 3 cylinders are firing. Really need the compression to build up so we can see if the brake booster brings the spongy brake pedal up to a good spot. After that's done, it's just shocks and a windscreen rubber to put in and we can go for a vin check. Cheers, Reubin

  43. Mmkay, so I've had time to tinker and found two cylinders were intermittent. Changed out the old sparkies for new NGK's and replaced the oil which looked pretty yuck. Here are some more photos for y'all: Interior is super clean bar a couple of rips in the seats. I dig the red and black. very 70's.

  46. So this has sat forlorn for some time while I've concentrated on the carpi, but also I have been waiting for some special custom bits to come from the US which ended up taking this long anyway. But the shipment tracking tells me they are sitting with customs now and I'm going to take the carpi to the sandblasters tomorrow so I figured id get this show on the road. My plan was to use the 131 volumex block so I got that on the engine stand and honed it but found the wear ridges were worse than I thought. so I honed the shit out of it some more but still the wear ridge was about 0.0005" to 0.0015" measured with an internal mic. it doesnt sound like much but is quite apparant to the touch. I spent quite a while umming and ahhhing and hmmmmming about if it was a big issue or not, consulting books, the google and discussing with a couple of mates. inspected all my other spare engines/blocks and found most of them were similar apart from one which had a ridge only on one cylinder and doest feel as pronounced. Then I started to lean towards yeah it was going to be fine and to just run with using the volumex block/cbf taking this other motor apart so I cleaned up the deck face really well and then found some corrosion adjacent to a water gallery edging into the fire ring area. Its barely feelable with your fingernail but was enough to push the decision for me to use the other block which has a nice deck. It's not that the VX block is scrap - just needs to be decked and bored to 84.5mm, just that would mean using some other pistons (i've got NOS 84mm pistons already) and why do that when I have another (hopefully) a suitable block other 131/132 type two litre engine bits hopefully this one will do the trick, I'll give it a tickle with the hone tomorrow and measure it up and see

  47. as reported elsewhere - got a warrant, the dodgy braking was a combination of a flat rear right and the rear brake bias regulator being out of adjustment now. the rears still lock up first under hard braking but at least it pulls straight. So put on the 14x8's As you can see it's not exaclty even front/rear which is somewhat dissapointing (wasn't quite so obvious with the 13's and big tyres), I have a few theorys on this - the kit leaves the front higher so as not to put the front suspension geometry out of whack too much - the rear springs they gave me are shorter than they are supposed to be (hence I had to get the shocks shortened even though it was a "kit" for this car) - the front springs arent sitting in the spring seats quite right and/or need to settle more - Spax are just cabbage and designed the kit wrong Anyway too late to do anything about it before Kumeu so will roll in maximum acceleration attack mode for now
