  2. Took this dog out again for a decent test run. Went pretty well with no drama's. gearbox is getting pretty tired though. 1st gear has a sweet shudder. didnt really get a hard time in 1st, so guessing it was already on its way out. "Just hit it at speed" 2nd vid has a bit more rpm

  4. I had typed a long story buy closed the window by accident and aren't writing it again. Big thanks to nathan & greg for collecting and storing this until I could get it. I got it home saturday, chucked some fuel in the tank and water in the radiator and it started after a bit of encouraging. Found that the fuel pump was spraying fuel everywhere so now its running on lpg. plans are to fix rust, get a wof with the 202 and drop a 253/308 into it and drive Genuine holden service tool discussion://oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47520-chrisr-ness-hq-wagon/

  5. So, last year I went and had a look at a mates 616 he had stored away in his sisters shed for better part of a decade. He bought it cheap, drove it for a small while then pulled it apart and did some work to it. During this period he bought a rx2 and then another rx2 and thus this got neglected. Anyway, deal was done and I became the new owner of a complete (but in bits) rx2 converted 616. This conversion was originally done by the infamous Mazfarm, those that know him know he would have been drunk and distracted by chickens while doing this and therefore did a halfarsed job of it. I'm sure Mutiny has some old pics of it. Plans? well, I'm heading off to 'murica for a while so I've dumped it with bubblegoose. He's going to do some paneling and painting and stuff. It came with almost everything - I had to buy some front seats, rear garnish and a horn pad. everything else seems to be there. it has a rx7 12a and s1 gearbox. engine has been pulled down and checked and ports have been extended. I will most probably add some bridgeported plates into the mix before it goes into the car though. I already had the rays/volk mesh wheels. I bought some SSR MKIII for it and am currently looking for some hotwires to put my eagers on (you can never have too many options!) That's it for now Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47513-2nd-child-update-noscos-mazda-616/#entry1484361

  6. I moved this into a better position in Ben's Shed and while I was there mucking about with some other cars I grabbed another picture or two of the van to prove that I still have it: It's now facing a much better angle to allow me to slip in the motor and gearbox. The chassis that was pictured in the first post met its demise a while back. I removed everything that I thought was worth removing; rear axle assembly and Cheviot Turbos, fuel tank, V8 swaybar and links, steering box, V8 engine, gearbox crossmember and towbar. The rest was cut into pieces and scrapped. I'd usually feel bad about that but it was saved from being crushed while it still had all of its running gear. So it was essentially already dead. Well at least that makes it easier to justify in my head.

  8. Looks like Ive got something else to learn about now.... Just picked this up this afternoon Its a 1986 Suzuki FA50 In PURPLE. DRANK. I know bugger all about scooters or two stroke stuff really, but have bought it mainly for commuting to work on. But after reading all the scooter gang threads on here, I donned my denim vest I purchased a while ago and spent this afternoon terrorizing my 'hood Its pretty sweet and runs well. missing a couple of lenses, and needs indicators, brake light and horn hooked up. Just want to get some new tires as the fronts a bit perished. Whitewalls?

  9. So this happened. Was cashed up and gave up on getting a wagon so made an offer on this bad boy and next minute shes in my shed. 1977(regod as an 81 which it isnt) MX31 Corona Mark 11 Grande In 1992 she was converted to a Mustang 289 V8 manual with a borg warner 9 inch. Apparently it has a Clevor engine which Im yet to confirm. Fitted with a nice demon carb. Awesome throttle response! Shes all certed with a ridgy didgy 1992 cert plate. On hold. Trailered her home from Auckland.A few days later she had factory mirrors back in place. Started to remove the pin stripping only to find the main red bit is painted on. Gutted. Factory colour is a beautiful champagne so I might spray her back to that seeing there are a few rust bubbles on her I want to sort out. But this all depends what I do with it. Got her running but the clutch has welded itself to the flywheel from sitting for 2 years. Goes on par with my old 1uz one, but with longer ratios so pulls hard. Got all the fruit my Grande sedan does, air con, power steering, electric windows, IRS, overriders etc. Very excited and will update as progress takes place. Will be getting new plus soon and a battery. Will get a video up and the whip the box out and sort this clutch. Discussion Thread

  26. Make sure the diff is a wagon one. The shock mounts are different to a sedan. If you are running stock wheels then diff width wise it will be fine but if you are running a bit wider than stock then it will rub on the guards. Also if you run stock 14" wheels and want to run V8 brakes on the front then check they fit under your 14's. I have VP V8 front brakes (bolt onto stock struts) but they do not fit under stock VB/VC/VH 14" wheels. If you have any questions then I'm pretty confident I can help with most aspects - providing I can remember. haha.

  27. yeah unfortunately they are just junk. Mine are braced too and are a slightly different design but have the same problem. I emailed the guy who makes them who told me I must not have braced them properly which is complete garbage. My exhaust was braced before the headers were attached and it was fitted up as well as you could expect. Shaneo is right, they are for show cars that dont get driven IMO

  28. Got pulled out of the shed yesterday. Only to go for a drive to clear cob weebs though. Clutch has freed itself up now which is good. Will attack making a new slave cylinder bracket in the coming weeks. Will also put the suspension and wheels from the sedan into this ready for Hampton powercruise.

  30. Almost 2 years to the day since an update which is not much of an update jeah. Had disc brakes put on the front a wee while ago, and had fixed that shit box ground smashing steering that eats tyres and is dumb. I flipped and swapped front spindles in it. But it makes the spindle below the rim which aint ideal. So will just leave it sittung like this in the shed for a year or two. And put some more paving stones in the boot to drop that some more. I purchased accuair air ride gear while in the states too, so might throw that at it one day. Kind Regards

  35. Can't do the lynx/hair spray thing with tubes. It'll blow the tube to pieces. Has it got any bead lube on it? That'll make a huge difference. I'm also wondering if the tubes are at a point where they won't stretch sideways anymore without blowing to pieces. You may also find that being 185's, they may not be able to stretch any further.

  40. So it was going but with a loud bang at track day while Jenn was doing laps it never made Nationals . The engine and whole front end came out this weekend. A very big thanks to Doug. The new engine is painted gear box attached . Just need to get a new ball joint and front disks machined this week goal is to have it running by end of week this week but that is very hope full ( on a very standard spec and ready for sale ) When the engine came out the headers are near on rubbish now "105 speed" not sure about them but they have so many cracks and breaks they are now beyond repair In my option they are for show cars only that never get driven Your thoughts guys??? And this is where I'm up to at current. Replacement front end half way there should be going in very soon

  43. Progress! Hoops are in, All guages inc SL/E tacho are now functioning properly and the interior is all done including car audio. Just running an amplified four speaker gedup at the moe. Almost finished my PYE stereo buetooth project. The only way i could figure out to turn the bluetooth on and off is by inserting and ejecting the tape. It took me about an hour to find an old tape but hit the jackpot and found GnR appetite for destruction in an old box o crap to test it. works mint. Just trying to get other buttons to accept and reject calls when running hands free atm. I could go and get a cert now if I wanted........ but brought a Borg-Warrner 5 speed with shifter and flywheel. Still need to track down a pedal box, clutch cable and speedo gear to make it happen. But thought I may as well sort it before cert..... so close to being finished! The car has been running mint, have put 1000Kms on it since the new motor has been put in. So far........so good. Will put up interior pics as soon as I can.

  44. Back in January, I was in Auckland at the time of an OS monthly meet, so went down to pay a visit and met Neal (threeonthetree) and Ben (zebra dude), who were both enthusiastic about my plans and were up for helping out if they could - which of course they could, as I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to spannering and my knowledge of Holden stuff is absolutely nothing compared to either of them, especially Neal. Only thing was, conversation moved away from a 202 six and steered towards a V8, which I admit did look mighty fine in Neal's HQ. My other cars are French GTi's, so I wasn't looking for big horsepower from the Holden but effortless cruising instead, especially on hills. Since I'm European, I also wanted a manual, which pointed towards a Celica 5 speed. Within an hour, the 202 idea was gone and a 253 was what I wanted/needed. I kept in touch with Neal, who it turns out is happy to help spend other people's money and also trawl Trademe relentlessly on others' behalves to sniff out bargains. First up was perhaps the most difficult bit - a worthy Toyota 5 speed. I bagged a W57 Supra box which had been assessed by the fellas at By'Gone Autos, fitted with new bearings and generally tidied up. A few weeks later and another message from Neal, who's seen a 308 motor poorly advertised on the Tard going cheap; lucky that the 'box came with a 308 bell housing, I guess.... Being the utterly GC that he is, he went out west and took a look at it for me, bagged a deal with the fella for a few other parts thrown in to the deal and then went and collected it all again a few days later, then almost told me off for my generosity when I bunged him an extra $50 for his troubles! 10/10 WOULD TRADE AGAIN +++++++

  46. This must be some kind of record...for me. The first door took 5 years to reskin...and this one took a week and a half. And it only took that long cos I ran out of gas for the welder. So I guess I should start on removing the engine or something.
