Popular Post Bling Posted October 12, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2016 Built a wheel polisher years ago. Had mechanic I use turn up an axle I swapped off someone. A couple of pulleys, a belt, a section of steel beam, some bearing carrier things and bobs your uncle. Used it to polish one wheel. Most expensive polish ever. Have since moved it between three houses which isn't fun given its weight. Plan to polish more wheels in the future. 15 Quote
Muncie Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I Bought my kids these scooters from Kmart christmas last year they go pretty well 24 volt 100watt my sons batterys carked it after about 4 months though..... as they are with me on it batterys last about 10 minutes 25 with a 7 year old there 25k,s downhill is about it. this is version 2.0 after my son cooked the motor a brand new $80 scooter was bought this is a bit different to his old one having a belt drive the old one was chain driven Add 2 Milwaukee M18 batterys $120 Each and its a bloody weapon in the wet i can spin the back wheel about 15 meters or ride it too the liquor shop no worries (ive Governed it for my son) lasts at least an hour hooning around. Ive now got his old one with a burned out motor i'm thinking what to do with it 2x 56 volt batterys and a 500 watt aliexpress motor would be a hoot. 8 Quote
Popular Post EURON8 Posted October 30, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2016 Inlaws had seen a fence style they liked and wanted at their new house, they asked and I said easy Problem: need to roll a 50mm ID 180° bend in 50x10 flat bar, Solution: raid scrap steel pile, turn some dies and pins in the lathe and boom. 11 Quote
Popular Post mutiny Posted October 30, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2016 heres a coffee table i just finished making. made the wooden rimu frame out of some rimu my old man had stashed when he took down the roof at this place and put the top story on about 25 years ago. it was the rafters for the roof. pretty happy with the result . would love to make a big outdoor table at some point in the same style 12 Quote

Muncie Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Made a Start on pricing up a big wattage electric motor cheap as chips..... Batterys and charger though fuck me are dear never mind i got this!87cc 4 stroke will do instead Fits sweet between the rails think i'll be needing a bigger rear wheel though if i offset the motor 60mm i can go direct to the wheel if its centralised i'll need a jackshaft a centrifugal clutch would be nice as this motor has a mean kick back sometimes would hate to knock it off the stand and watch it fuck off on its own. Half considering buying an electric hubmotor and using an alternator feeding a capicitor for drive like a prius but less effective. Would use the old electronic speed controller that's still there. 1 Quote
Popular Post Nominal Posted November 23, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 23, 2016 I was making some changes to my english wheel last week. I built this a few years back out of scrap bits I acquired. Design was based on Kerry Pinkerton's plans on the metalshapers site. It wasn't very stable when being moved around (front caster too close to the back of the thing) so I shifted the front wheels out a bit. The upper wheel was a crane caster. I think it's cast iron which isn't ideal, but it works for me. The lower anvils were machined by my father (there are 5 with different profiles) from a length of 3" chrome plated hydraulic ram rod (I was told it was part of a press that had been broken off !). The adjuster is made from square tubing and threaded rod. Sliders are plastic chopping board material. The only machining is the anvils and axles. It's a tricky thing to lift up, but I got it back upright after a while/ 13 Quote

mk2marty Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Now that botophucket works again, i can show off the record cabinet i built over Christmas. The slowly collapsing cube boxes perched on the speaker just weren't going to cut it, and it was a good excuse to categorise some records properly. So I donned my best Al Borland flannel, and $50 worth of MDF and a few hours resulted in this: Much better. 2 Quote
flyingbrick Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Needed a small sandbag for going under the corners of my floor patch while hammering.. I love making something from nothing so used an old glove as the cuffs don't wear out. And then Greg did the sewing ( so basically he did 90% of it haha) 6 Quote
