I have got the rear forks all finished and welded on now. The hubs i got from the guy in Oamaru, they are just steel front hubs off a normal bike. The rims are all drilled and ready for painting so hopefully that will happen this weekend.7 points

It's ALIVE! After sending the Z to Speedwell in Hamilton to get the carbs looked at, she's purring like a kitten. The old boy said all the needles were gunked up from stale fuel and the slides were stuck. Looking all snazzy in the fresh air. Also gave the radiator a proper flush and got a nice tray of gunk out. Might have been helpful to jack her up to get the tray under a bit more... Tinkle time! I really like this photo haha a little accident. To do list: -Shocks -Windscreen rubber -Exhaust and muffler -High stop light? -Sort out slow voltage discharge4 points

Lots more of the old silver Transit in last nights episode, my white Mk2 also features as the paddy wagon used in the "dawn raids" as well as Jackson's plumbers van which is the armoured cash van. Been on here for years so thought id better make my own thread. Its a Datsun 1200 coupe. Its been through many changes but finally got it pretty much how i want, minus a few small exceptions. Its running a rebuilt A15+T. The turbo is a small garrrett blowing through twin dellorto sidedrafts. Currently running at 9PSI via a Tial external wastegate. Wheels are 13x7 and 13x7.5 SSR Starsharks wrapped in 175/50r13 Yokohamas. The only other plans at this stage are some adjustable coilovers for the front, S13 brake conversion and getthing the front rims widened to 13x8 and moving them to the rear, then putting the rear rims on the front.2 points

Found a pair of spectacles inside my jacket pocket (it was a freebie from Nickrock, had never worn it) and this made the whole night worthwhile. Was cool saying hi to a bunch of ppl I kinda knew but had never seen before. The variety of cars was very cool!2 points

Well. I thought I would finally put a build thread up, after buying this off Seedy al two years ago now. After dabbling in a few Subaru’s and other cars. I decided to try and find myself an AE86. But while looking around, this popped up and was in the area so had to have a look. After a test drive at night and mate Ben convincing me of what a good car this is. I handed over some cash and drove it away. Few photos of what drew me to the car: The original 7age and link that were in the car was a good start, but was replaced with a 20v 4age, T3 trumpets, new exhaust, microsquirt ECU and a few other bits and pieces to make it fit/ work. Ben working on the new loom. Current photos thanks to Ash. Next on the list was a bit of rust work, which is being done at the moment. Photos:1 point

right i wrote a novel here but our awesome internet failed and my awesome computer forgot what i wrote . so im building a jet engine first i read in the e-nets (i wanted to do this about 7 years ago but just did not have the skills and tools) i then set about designing a combustor and flame tube this is the flame tube i have drilled the hole based on a generic model found on the net this is the combustor outer the plate used to bolt and seal the flametube-combustor is 4mm plate laser cut out ( tbh i was happy to pay the $$ i was charged as they were EXACTLY the size and looked real good i then drilled and tapped holes for the sparkplug and fuel delivery, dont worry if they are in the wrong place i have more the enough plugs to move and replug if i have to a view down the flametube the fueline is squished damn near flat but the outer lip is slightly higher then the ineer and bent inwards so will hopefully spread the fuel enough without creating hotspots (there are also two 1mm holes about 60 deg apart faceing the plug about 4mm before the lip , but i get the feeling this is going to overfuel the setup and def cause hotspots) this is the flametube in the combustor assembly , yes i know there is bugger all clearance BUT tbh heat soak is not a worry and only 20% of the total air introduced is needed down the end so if i postion the inlet right it wont matter . this is a closeup of the spark ignition system i have been working on . with everything hooked up to test fire the spark system ydXxTXL2fac1 point

whipped up a mount for both the speedo and ignition. really like how my instrument cluster looks now! quality was not this speedo's strong point, trying to crimp a connector on the positive end, the whole cable snapped off the bulb. will have to solder it back on when i need a light on my speedo haha enjoying how it looks, not enjoying how it runs. 4 stroking when cold (really spluttery in 1st, other gears fine) and dying on me. am only just beginning to teach myself the art of 2 stroke tuning, tuned it when first put on the pipe cos it was ridiculously rich and bogging out at a blip of the throttle. is this just a running in phase? or could it be more than fuel mixture? problems have only popped up since the temperatures have been dropping with winter and such. anyway it looks cool, even if it doesnt run well.1 point

got thinking that this isn't exactly the newest car on the market, and it seemed odd that i would be the only/first person to discover an issue with the catalog, and that more likely something was up with my car. when investigating, and found that someone had jammed a piece of metal down the strut tube in order to make the slightly shorter shocks work. fished this out with a piece of wire. and the new shocks fit properly now. quite glad this isn't as much of an issue as i thought, though rock auto where going to be really good about it if they were infact wrong. so i recommend them1 point

So this last week has been pretty average in regards to this whole thing. The engine went back together and in the hole all very smoothly Time came to fire it up... it started first pop! It was going good all bar a small exhaust leak. So put some water in it and 30 seconds later it died, Tried to restart it and it was farting around and not idling. This is the point in which i notice the fuel light is on..... hmm thats wierd i emptied my 20L fuel container into it just the other day. Ok thats fine, whatever, i'll put some more petrol in it then. Cue me poring 5 litres of fuel into the tank which promptly gushes straight onto the ground under the car! WTF Upon closer inspection i see some shit cunt has removed the bung for me from the fuel tank. I luckily found the bung back where the car had been parked. Fuckers! So someone ass hat has jumped a 7 foot fence to make off with my 20L + 10 of half stale petrol! Which they have emptied out using an old icecream container which they kindly left behind. At this point i give up and flush the water from the engine and push the car back to its park. Next day i filled my 20L container again with petrol went to work and poured half of it in. Turned key and it fired up and idled perfectly! Yuss! so i quickly drove it into the workshop and put it on the hoist and sorted the exhaust leak out. with that sussed i filled it back up with water and started it up. AAAAAAnnnnnnnd its running like shit again. WTF. Maybe i didn't put enough petrol in it? so i put the rest of my container in it. Still running like shit. Dies. Won't start. Finally got it going and it barely runs, i give it heaps of throttle and thats when i see it. Bubbles. Bubbles coming out of the fucking radiator!! Fuck sake! Oil under the filler cap is milky as fuck. Shit. But on the plus side, i found the spare key while it was on the hoist! So at this point i see myself having 3 options; 1 - persevere with this shit heap of a motor and replace the head gasket. (I've never done a head gasket before) 2 - Put the new water pump and cambelt on the original 1g and get new oil seals for it. and cross fingers its ok (this engine has done 280thou kms) 3 - Find another 1g-ewww and hope for the best. 4 - Buy my work mates crashed JZX 110 and put engine and transmission from that into GX60 (low kms and very reliable but lots of fab work needed and cert etc) PS - my budget is not very high. please help //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48689-be4vers-gx60-wagon-discussion/1 point

the last few days and nights disappeared into grinding dust up my nose and welding spatter in my hair first patched the floor where the old seat mounts has cracked it cutting followed by much bashing then some welding and a couple of hours of cleaning that damn blue paint off more welding then, endless in and out of bits and grinding this and cutting that and eventually welding things to fit the seat rails getting there, but still much to do.1 point

cut some stuff out, shifter bracket, console brackets, rear parcel shelf brace and seat mounts made an arrangement of box section to hopefully keep it straight when its on the rotisserie. it bolts to the seatbelt anchorages, door hinge mount and base of the rear pillar. i might add another one that goes across between the 21 point

not much progress on the ute week gone been busy getting rid of all the bits i didn't need, have made some progress in getting bits i need. -have some brake hoses on the way -also cleaned up a spare set of axles and got rid of left hand thread and changed to sealed bearings ready for lsd courier/bounty nugget with a lower ratio to go in (that combined with 5 speed should be nice cruising at 100) -also this is ready to go in after sorting out sound deadening and carpet (thinking of going autodec? anyone else used them?) -then need some door cards done to match1 point

I am very excite. Airbox doesn't fit unfortunately but you win some, you lose some. Will sort that another day. For now, while stationary.. Open trumpets. It's all Glenn's stuff.. Manifold, 50mm throttles, 2 stage, ram tubes and 1000cc sards for outboard injection. Real pleased with them, good shit. Then I went and bought some exhaust stuff. 3" tube with glass pack offset-centre muffler. I will be chopping the floor and adding a tunnel to keep the exhaust above the chassis rail. This means I should be able to run a straight pipe under the diff into the muffler then out the back. We'll see when I get it under there, hopefully get it in with no turns.1 point

Ended up being 6 months without doing a thing on the car nor driving it too. But I went for cert - very few items and mostly silly stuff like I needed double return springs on the throttle linkage and stuff like that. But I got a cert. It was a good day that day. Next thing ya know - certification complete! (I love the cert plate number - it was a fluke) WOF Registration1 point
