tortron
cool, the inhibitor switch was the first thing I fixed so I can put in a fancy billet shifter from the states and get away with it?

locost_bryan
Do the wide wheels and flares (and/or other body mods) on this Rover need to be certed?
The Bronze
Import compliancing question: If I bring in something ex-USA which has been engine swapped, what is the process at this end for compliancing? hope it slips through un-noticed? or be upfront from the outset and see what mods need to be made to it to get it Low Volume complied. Nominal
To be properly legal it would need LVVTA Cert. https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/importing-a-vehicle/step-2-evidence/scratchbuilt-or-modified-vehicles/
tortron
ever seen an American modified car that wasn't held together with zip ties and wire?

Regarding this: https://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/cto/6083457653.html Needs cert to be legit, even if it somehow sneaked thru entry cert it would more than likely be picked up at wof time, or insurance if in an accident. Looks like it has had brake mods as well. If it was, for example, a camaro that was a 6 cyl and came in with a 350 you might get away with something like that because it's a lot more tricky to figure out what the standard engine was, and it could have had it from factory. But a 54 truck with a v8 (which chev didnt start making till 55) , and from a different manufacturer, and more than likely some American "engineering" will be obvious to anyone that it's not factory.

I was surprised to see airbags mentioned in connection with the substitution of handlebars on a motorcycle.
Shakotom
It you've got a car with a Valid Motorsport Authority card -full cage/harness/seat ect do you still need a cert for those modifications? even if car already has cert for suspension?
cletus
No, if it's covered by the authority card, it doesn't need to be on the cert plate
SOHC
Can a car with a lapsed rego but has the LTSA style vin tag be taken to any WOF place for a WOF then apply for a registration?
cletus
No still has to go to TSDA ie testing station or compliance center that does re registration
M.H.
I have a land rover discovery, its mint mechanically but has some nasty rust in the body, can I just swap the body from another onto my chassis?
igor
If one were to do that would the resultant vehicle bear the identity of the chassis donor or the body donor? Or does it not matter and whichever one has live plates is the winner?

flyingbrick
I went to vtnz with my Safari and they moved the VIN tag from the body to the chassis..I don't even think it cost any money.
cletus
It can be done, If the Id tags are changed at all its meant to go to a tsda for them to attach them, or if you end up with a mismatch of numbers ie the chassis number is no longer the same as the one on the firewall, they can note it in Landata so it's all legit.
Carsnz123
This has probably been asked numerous times but I can't find any info anywhere. Is it legal to paint a white/black number plate black and silver to look like the pre 86 plates?
