  1. so would seem things are just to hard for parts people Today I ended up burning the bushes out of the idler to see if I could get some ordered from measurements After giving it to my work mate to take to the Suspension and steering specialists, to get something matched up, they gave him a box of free bushes that I could modify and try, as they werent sure. After making a decent attempt at trying to make them work, concluded this was not going to work. took some measurements, jumped on the nolathan website, found some that seemed like they are exactly what I needed, which i then found out are for Hilux of the same period, so will be exactly what I need indeed. then ordered them through Repcos navigator website, however this was at 5.25, so whether they get here from auckland tomorrow or not is a guessing game So turns out, sometimes the best parts guy, is your self. gutted i didnt do it earlier Sigh

  2. Limit straps on may have an issue with inner guard clearance. fine when the suspension is fully compressed on both sides. but at full flex, have tyre to inner guard contact. because of where bumpstops are mounted. will likely never get this much travel,, so maybe a non issue. putting a rubber bumpstop on shock shaft, or cutting the inner guard some more will fix it, if it turns out to be a drama currently getting the outer towers sorted. passenger side almost ready for paint on bumps

  3. Today was a good day! I got my head back from Barry at MRP. Here are some photos he sent me of the head. No need to take my own. The head had to have some extra work done on it so that the 10mm+ lift cams were able to rotate without hitting anything. With receiving my head I also received the last few gaskets and bolts that I was after. Especially for the intake side of things so I could get these beauties bollted together. I installed the front input shaft seal, the output shaft seal, and also the spacer ring between the box and the input shaft that I forgot to install first time round. Nice new slave cylinder I am using OEM head studs so I have used the Toyota torque specs, so need to do the +90 +90. I just did it by eye with my last engine, decided to do it properly this time round. [ Fastforward an hour of fiddling around I got everything bolted together. I am still waiting on some new shims to arrive from Australia so I will have to wait a little bit before I can install the cams etc. [ With that, not long to go before i drop it down the guts into the KE25 and can finally start on another task. I am thinking diff shortening next. Hopefully less expensive than this engine! Discussion //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/52401-pbaines-1971-toyota-corolla-ke25/

  6. I got this golf lip for it, the valence I used had already had one on so I left the holes in when I painted it for this reason. it sits high, not hideous but I will lower it and see. That will change the angle too. i scrubbed clean and painted the sump yesterday

  8. Indeed, I only have the one cock. I googled and there is no separate chassis, time to break out the tinfoil, chicken wire, rivets and bog.

  9. So over the past however long its been ive had some good progress on repainting it. The panels have been quite bad and i am working to get them perfect. Before i started the strip down i grabbed dads mags and chucked them on to see what they would look like, with a slight polish it should look good when its done. So i finally completed the two doors that were giving me the most heartache along with the bonnet and starting on the rear quarter panel. Both quarter panels were especially bad so im fairly happy with how close it is at the momment. And finally the other doors are undercoated and dont require alot of work.

  10. By the time you improve the shitty bits, is it worth buying,ie is it cheap? Or would you be better off adapting some pick a part type bits yourself The factory 'diagram' is lol, looks like I drew it

  16. So nothing terribly productive has happened. But anything that wasn't too ruined or was repairable has been stripped off the green pile of garbage. It has been able to offer up a few bits of glass, a fairly unchopped wiring loom, some trim and not a whole lot more to be honest. Its very bad. Here is a picture of it getting closer to death. Note cyclone Cook damaged garage behind. Get outta here. Like, comment and subscribe below.

  17. new house time. our house is small, leaky, cold and old and we've wanted to do something about it for quite a while now. thanks to a long journey which included astronomical increases in building costs, council changing their mind on things multiple times and heaps of other fun things it has taken 3 years to get to this point. but here we are, about to build a new house which was supposed to start last November. the plan? well, we're extending the front a bit and joining onto the garage. to get there we have to remove the current house and start pretty much from scratch. the floor structure of the existing will stay but nothing else. one of my jobs is to remove the current house. in theory the build will take about 8 months. im doing some steel work and a few bits here and there but the bulk of the work will be done by the builders and subcontractors heres the existing floor plan and the finished floor plan. existing floorplan by sheepers, on Flickr new layout by sheepers, on Flickr

  20. Ullrich came through as they are open Saturday morning, I ran out of time on Friday and couldn't get down to Mico. Ended up buying 2.5 metres of tube as it was way cheaper than I though it would be, so I've got some spare for future projects Will update my project thread soon

  21. @piazzanoob gave me a hand bleeding the brakes and he supervised me rangiing up a battery mount. I've got one side of the boot trim fitted. After work tomorrow I'll sort out the high stop and footwell wiring. That just leaves the seats and I can drive it

  26. No, that's one of the main reasons I've never got involved with them, there is very little in the way of rules for bikes. And trikes. I've only driven one and felt like it was going to kill me at any second. Yuck.

  27. Now we are at present day. I have a track day on the 27th, and I wanted to make some changes. First was the diff ratio is way long for the torque of the car. So I bought a 4.3 ratio LSD to fit. I also bought a seat rail to take an old Racepro I have kicking around Some tow hooks And these: 18 x 8.5, 30th anniversary 350z Wheels, +30 offset To go with them I also got some 6.5kg/mm lowering springs. No Pictures of them but just the finished product from today: Car still has Wof, and rego and the objective is to keep it running as a daily. Idea is it will stop me from ripping the motor out to put a V8 in it, and to keep it running on the most reliable setup for as long as possible.

  29. Place in left hand. Fit steel cap boot on right foot. Drop from hand while swinging your right foot. Atempt to aim for a rubbish bin or out a door away from you and your car.

  30. Don't bother installing it btw, they were supposed to make your points last forever by not putting any current through them and only using them as a switch. In reality they were about 100x more likely to fail and leave you stranded. That's why they all have that switch to bypass the unit

  35. So if you were wondering what those things do, they are 3" travel hydro bumpstops. If there are any hidden objects hidden in the grass, whilst rounding up the cows. these will prevent occupants of said vehicle, from cranium to moldy hood lining contact. or just doing skiz cunt jumps. pretty much overkill for this truck, but while im under there..

  38. Holy shit @cletus you are a legend, I have just been back through the last couple of pages and I see you have answered pretty much all if not every question. Fucking solid. Here is my question; I am looking at importing a 1997 ish 4wd Dyna single cab as a work vehicle, I would like something bigger than the 4wd single cab townace that I run now. I am looking at importing mostly because there are not many of these in NZ it seems. This is the sort of thing; http://www.beforward.jp/toyota/toyoace/bf625867/id/749044/ Now I am pretty sure this could not be complied on a COF due to the brake and emissions requirements, but as the weight is only 1750kg, could this be complied as a WOF vehicle? Also it would generally be good to know the right sites to look at, beforward was just the first likely one I saw when I googled.

  39. Lol. I don't do face book, so was about to ask what the fuck f meant, unless you happened to be referring to the diff head code, which in this situation, will in fact be an ' f '

  44. Building your own camper is fun , look at how happy felixx is I like the truck above because of the duals , great for stability . I have sometimes thought that would be a sensible addition to mine , and a front diff ........................ But really ,, I find my off roading is just down some shingle track or grassy paddock so the chunky tread tyres and plenty of ground clearance work just fine . If you do build , put at the front of the build consideration ..... light , lighter , less is more. My camper is 610kgs and I would do the next one lighter.
