  1. Not actually true mate. Reverse lamps are a weird beast that don't fit into the "If it's there it has to work" part of the VIRM. As proof that they're not of concern for a WoF, please find below the note marked two from the VIRM. You can fail on reverse lamps but it's if they're broken and letting unrefracted light out or if they are operating outside of their design purpose, ie. they're on when they're not supposed to be. If they don't work, they don't work and it doesn't actually matter. I have been through this with my 110 (when it was still on the road), after I converted to 5spd I said to my friendly WoF man that I hadn't got around to sorting the wiring out and he told me to not worry as they're not a legal requirement to function. Told him I was doing it anyway as it's good to see at night and for others to see that you're reversing. So. Yeah. Have fun with that.

  12. wow i need to do an update. the roof is white!!!! and my gears dont pop out and random times any more. this gear box has sincros in 1st which is amazing and also rather weird after been so used to coming to a complete stop to put it in 1st gear. any way. old 10/5 (mark) mates got married and a mate found a photo and was like how do you know them.... (i didnt) there photo looks rad they must be waving down a car cause it broke down or something... but i done a wedding as well il have to ask Mr West if he can do some stalking and see if he can get photos. turns out he knew the bride after seeing some more photos of my car.... im not going to rob a bank with this car everyone will know its me. any way i bumped into a dude at an auckland os meet. he had his ap5 regal there. got yarning and he was after some parts and i was after one of his hot wires. we exchanged numbers and just last weekend me made out. it kinda went like this. he showed me his bits i showed him mine. (turns out mine is broken. missing as screw in there) then we got really close together. we kinda got just laid next to each other for a while. and he stole some glass toys of mine (a couple of windows) i stole his 14 inch toy. (hot wire) and we now just exchange emails with raunchy photos of heater cores and pipes. now mine is fixed. lucky i hord valiants and slant 6 parts went into the boot of my spare shell which is in front on the good ap5 and looked at this stole its screw put that back in mine yesterday and drove it to work this morning. drove around doing all my pick ups in and and had some sweet smiles and thumbs up. think il just drive this heaps now. my holden is crap. by for now.

  14. Discussion Thread So I took this to work to try get some work done on it so I can get it wof'd and back on the road! I was meant to do this Instead I did this, hopefully tomorrow might see some more practical work done but it will most likely see the other side get the same treatment and maybe some work on the new wheels for the back. 16. The car has taken a great leap forward. The chassis rails got welded in today. The lowering blocks are in, HQ type with matching u bolts and the rubber pads removed. The diff angle still needs to be set once the engine in in. I'm expecting the back to drop another inch or so once everything is in the car. The front wheels with HQ disc rotors are on I still have to try the front guards, I think that the front will have to come up a bit so the tires don't hit on full lock. There are other bits like the tamp bars mounted and rear mounts for the torana front end that are done. Good progress, but still heaps to do. I will post more pictures next week.

  30. So i got the best delivery ever this morning stoked beyond words i dont think ive ever owned anything that shiny before... i ran outside and test fit them straight away yea they're wide... i decided when i ordered the lips id fit the car around the wheels so ive got some work to do I got some 175/65 tyres put on and tried them on again I think the plan will be a bit lower profile tyres much more guard work and drop the whole car another inch Went hard with the guard roller and achieved minor flaring no way near enough though. Been tossing up whether to cut my inner guards and tack them higher then i could pump them way more Have so much to do before Chrome expression next weekend hopefully i can get it sitting a bit better

  32. Popped out to see Nick at Kapiti Vapour Blasting on Monday, nice guy, told me all about the process he follows and showed me some of his recent work, which looked pretty sharp. His turnaround times are quick, said he'd have my stuff done in a couple days. Will post some pics when I pick the parts up.

  33. Some good news! I've found complete front AA60 strut assembly's! Wahoo! So I can get these jacked up rona struts out and get it to cosure hight In the build side progress is good Picked up a mint J160 with a short shifter Small port head, ITB's with RWD linkage Mold for a carbon intake plenum is nearly done. I've got some forged 7A rods and several sets of 4agze Pistons I'll haft to see how much gets skimmed off the head and the block before choosing witch Pistons as I've got 8:1 and 8.9:1, but the 7A setup means thoughts Pistons ended up giving higher comp anyway Something closer to 10:1 would be cool. High, but it's not meant to be a big boost build, more a responsive motor with usable power, with a little turbo just for a bit more kick. If it cracks 200hp if be happy as

  35. Failed a warrant again, minor shizz but the bottom outer ball joint again. Had somehow started to to unscrew itself.. ended up buying a big socket to convert into a square socket, much simpler to tighten.. and easier than the bird shit I made previously. Should have done this right at the beginning, good thing is I can use it for the 929 as it runs the same suspension..

  39. No update from last weekend as I was having a holiday in ChCh/Tekapo, I tried to convince my wife to leave me at home to crank through a bit more bus, but no There was almost no progress this weekend either as I had to install Windows 10 on my work laptop, holy fucking shit that is a day of my life I will never get back. Then to top it off I decided to do a bit of bus on that Sat afternoon and hilariously got some steel in my eye (I was wearing all the right kit, just bad luck I guess). I ended up at the emergency room around 6pm and the doctor took a look and said she couldn't see anything. On the way home the anesthetic wore off and it started to get worse. My eyelid was all puffed up as well by then. At midnight we loaded up the brats and drove back to the emergency room where another doctor actually found the steel embedded inside my upper eyelid. Unfortunately he poked a hole in my inner eyelid with the needle as well, so when I woke up this morning my entire eye socket was encrusted with gunk and blood - nice. I cannot recommend spending 7 hours with something sharp scraping your cornea, 0/10 would not trade again. It is coming right though and was good enough to get some shit done today. Anyway, I made an executive decision to make the roof lift a bit longer, this is so a shower or something could be installed in place of a second row seat in the future if our kids ever leave home or we sell it. This is a bit shit cos it will make the front rack a harder/pointless, plus I don't think it will look quite as shmick, however practicality will always win the day in PogLand. I have also mostly sorted the steering wheel boss, I naturally got some shit laser cut for this  First I cut and turned down the steering boss; Then some 8mm plate gets bolted to that. There are 3x M6 screws with about 30mm of thread engagement, should be enough; Then the quick release boss gets mounted along with another 8mm adaptor plate; Then the dirty ol trumpet wheel gets bolted on; Boom! As a bonus the height is now perfect for the seat, I will be able to change gears with ease.... The seat will have heaps more room too, nothing but win right there. I need to sort the horn but oi have a plan for this.

  40. Have finished off my custom rocker cover. changed my design slightly once i was made aware i was not going to be able to cnc router my original design easily. still more than stoked with the outcome. this more or less concludes the amount of tidying up in the engine bay im going to do. bar some little thinks like paint strip and polish the oil cap, and try do something about the choke cable cutting across the engine now it has the nice cover. ill probably re tape the loom once its gone through cert and i dont need quick access to anything. wouldn't mine getting rid of the blue on the head at some point, but ill leave that for another day. the adapter for my new bosch coolant sensor arrived today, so i can fit that and actually have the ECU read a usable coolant value. not really much else to do i think before i roll it down for cert. link to discussion - //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/30375-flibois-1971-toyota-corona/page-7

  44. safe as mate just dont get under it getting it up onto the rotisserie was a bit of a mission, was probably the sketchiest thing ive done in a while. jack it up as high as possible, stands under it, make extension for jack, jack up as high as it goes, attach ratchet tie downs to roof of shed and pull it up last 100mm, bolt rotisserie on, all the time ready to bolt in case it all came crashing down
