  1. so this happened again so found a new "high performance" one to go in also it looked like the trans to hanger bearing angle was a bit off and probably not helping (not sure why when the engine is sitting slightly lower? as that should put it off the other way) so put in a new trans mount (old one was oil soaked and soft) and still looked off so cut and it shut it to add 10mm which also gets the back of the head some firewall clearance rather than the bees dick that it had. also got some new shoes 225/50/14 R888s mostly because they were the only cert legal tyre I could find to fit a 14x8 that was not a giant balloon/too tall

  3. New shell, new thread. purchased this gx61 with a 1ggte with a blown head gasket, parted out all the things i didnt need or already have. got rid of the sportmaxxs and sat it on something a bit more worthy whilst i went on holiday purchased some new old stock wheels while in japan (big ups to my mate josh for helping me carry them on the train) had pine engineering take them from 6" A type to 8" up front and 9" in the rear which brings me to today, car is currently a rolling body, i will tidy up the engine bay and set up the wiring and radiator for the 2jzge +w55 setup from my rx60 cressida and then swap everything over including the coilovers and give the interior a damn good clean.

  8. Decided to just paint the bumpers with the gloss paint and see how they come out. It seems to look alright. So it can stay like that. Fender mirrors make it look so much better too.

  10. Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49007-sirges-1969ish-honda-n360/ So I've finally embarked on my own journey of owning a classic car. Been wanting to do something in the much simpler world without luxury items such as retractable seat belts (Who really needs them anyways?) So a few months ago with my partner after we picked up our '81 Leyland Mini (Unsure if will do build thread for this too), decided to go to a place called Horopito. I'd heard of it before and people have told me there's just lots of old cars and potentially some pretty cool finds. While we were there I found some new wheels for the daily and also spotted this hidden little white Honda N360. Before I left I expressed some interest and they said they'd be happy to sell. Cool. After another couple months and a few phone calls I arranged for myself and a mate to go up with a couple trailers and pick up this little beast (A couple trailers required as they said I could have the free wreck that they had on site too). Headed up last week and stayed at brother-in-laws's place overnight for the long trip on Saturday. Couple photos the cars loaded up with the N360's Sorry potato photos below, think I smudged my phone camera lense. After an exciting trip home with not a fault in the world, such a lucky trip. We off load the car onto my driveway and I shoot off to drop the hire trailer off. Dropped it off at 4.30 (Y) Bang on time, couldn't have done it better (Only had hire trailer for 24 hours). Put a tarp over the wreck as there's holes in the roof and left it for the night.

  12. Bare bones. Have this AS3 / RD125 frame; And these; And a I have a RD125 engine (just no pics yet.) Just need some other bits. Think I have the tank sorted, I am going to remove factory airbox / clear out triangle section of crap, run on premix and fab up a seat. Need a headlight, front fork staunchions etc. etc. Not 100% on what direction to take. Just want it light and loud I had a Yammy LS2 100cc twin two stroke not that long ago and loved it for fanging around town. I miss it. Ideas?

  13. Managed to the the old girl out to the Hamilton monthly meet last Thursday. Unsurprisingly the car handled much better with air in the tyres Also replaced the windscreen rubber in the weekend. I have also removed the bumpers to take them to Onehunga Electroplaters to get a few dings out and add some sparkle.

  19. I guess perception is a big thing here I think maybe slightly on the expensive side for this, but realistically for how complete it is and how good condition it is, it's probably a bargin. (When compared with how cheap others have gone for and their condition)

A couple of key developments: - The Zebra shed has been improved with new lighting, a swept floor and more old english car parts - Kempy will be brewing a top secret type of coffee that has never been made in this Country before! - I am working on providing some iced cream based dessert treats for all attendees. Hopefully everyone has sorted a ride to this event. If not, just send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. Otherwise post up your 'ride wanted' reply here and chances are that somebody may be able to help.

  31. Still waiting on editing ability Head over to mjrstar's place, look at wiring but your REAL mission will be to look at his falcon fan buttons and let me know if they look good or not. I think he's too nice to tell me if they're up to scratch or not I think they looked rad individually but.... Speaking of thread jacks, did the other little bit turn up mjrstar? and since you have a 4g63t are you running it off the cas? Do you have a trigger wheel on anything he can look at? He is mine, I think I machined in a lip for a spacer then heated/shrank the trigger wheel over the protrusion out the face of the pulley. It was a trigger wheel I was given, apparently from a ford of some description. You can buy cut ones or have a custom one cut for you, if someone on here had a laser cutter they'd be EVERYONE's friend and have the best stocked fridge ever I thought I could perhaps mount it on the back to begin with..... but not enough room and too close to my dodgy belts

  34. They're like Pick-a-part, somethings are horridly expensive, other things are cheap. The main thing wrong with the place is the organisation of parts inside, they would be so much more successful if the parts were labelled better and accessible.

  35. Yea I understand your position, but google has surpassed pretty much all of the stand-alone navigation devices just through sheer resources (IMO). The turn by turn has gotten so much more detailed as they use satellite imagery and street view to make it more accurate, they also bought Waze I think which helped with their traffic algorithm (the traffic updates for crashes etc are legit). Europe is so densely populated that I doubt you will be out of coverage much (if at all) and when you are the navigation keeps working until you hit coverage again. Unless you want to use it to navigate a forest it will beat all the others all the time. Once it is available offline there will be no discussion to be had (unless somehow apple maps gets 8000 times better). All you need is a USB charger and a nice clip for the windscreen, its actually easier that a dedicated unit (again IMO)

  38. something like that will happen... possibly sell the current ones and just make a new set... obviously I just need to ensure I don't end up with more dish on the front than the back but for the mean time I'll fit the BRM's and focus on getting it the on the road and certed, besides in the last few years everyone's started doing wide steels

  39. More work tonight, used the front of the APC sills and the rest of the zinc coated ones i had folded up. The fit a the rear isnt perfect, but i think it will pull into shape ok. Ordered a spot weld kit from Eastwood for my Tig welder, and some rustproofing paint and such so i can paint the insides before welding the sills on. I have to make the bottom of the A pillars still as well, not to scarey, then ive got the whole process to do on the other side. Vents under dash will be a big job, not a massive amount of rust, but some funny shapes to deal with under there.

  42. Gearbox time!! Everyone's favourite time! With significant help from my good friend Nick (Cressy) the gearbox has been removed as well as the driveshaft and half shafts. The universals in the drive and half shafts are super notchy and have been sent away for refurb. I figure I don't want to be going in there again for as long as possible. Now the clutch assembly... not so pretty as you can see from photos! The main frost plug has been weeping coolant into the clutch assembly so the flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate have been sitting in about 25mm of water for the last god knows how long. Needless to say the clutch and pressure plates were fused together hence the lack of gear-change-ness. I had anticipated this so already have a replacement clutch kit ready to go. I also got the flywheel skimmed by the good fellas at Waikato Clutch and Brake who previously serviced all the brakes. Now to take the scrubbing brush and degreaser to the rear of the block to make it nicer and put everything back together after I have the shafts back. I also got a new rear crank seal for safety. Things are coming together slowly, just ticking things off the list. Super excited to illegaly drive her for the first time soon haha! Churp Moment of victory! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW gooey rusty muck

  43. Tom speaks the truth. Bad pic but at the revival all the old cars get priority parking near the event. Stretches almost as far as the eye can see and you can see some awesome cars when wondering through. Dunno if its the same at FoS but I would imagine yes

  44. Righto, so things are moving on and the work has begun. I have replaced the rubber fuel lines in the engine bay, replaced the voltage regulator, had the alternator reconditioned, had the rear wheel cylinders and front calipers refurbished. Now on to finding some shocks to replace the leaky old ones which won't be passing inspection any time soon. Here are some snaps: Bits of bits of bits Polish takes 20 mins per wheel but looking nice. Because dat ass

  47. So second time around this 132D1000 block will do the trick, honed it a bunch and you can just barely feel a ridge on a couple of cylinders but its pretty hard to measure, maybe 1/2 a thou. in other aspects the bores aren't quite as pristine as the VX block - the odd water mark or something from sitting around and a small vertical scratch on one cylinder (probably from getting the old pistons out) that didn't hone out 100% but i cant feel anything so it will do. Then I cleaned it up with degreaser and brakecleaner and the water blaster and then dried it and blew it down with air etc. before wiping it down with crc. Measured it up #1 - D - 3.3073" #2 - E - 3.3076" #3 - D - 3.3073" #4 - B - 3.3070" so above cylinder number, and stamp mark on the sump flange on the bottom on the engine for the factory bore classes I presume. Seems to more or less agree with what I measured after honing but I'm a little suspect of my measurements as it is quite tricky with the internal mic rather than bore gauge - when you get the gauge right to the limit of the bore it is very easy to have the dial turn as you pull it out of the bore to confirm the measurement. I understand why a bore gauge with a dial indicator on it is preferable. So I had a think about it and worked out I could double check using a piston and feeler gauge poked in from the bottom of the engine as its alot easier to measure the piston skirt with certainty using the external mic and the feeler gauge is go/nogo which I can trust. so the pistons I have the following skirt diameters 3.3045" 3.3049" 3.3049" 3.3051" So taking the smallest piston and a 3 thou feeler gauge I did this so moving the piston up and down the bore to check for taper etc. I found I could only just get the feeler gauge in on cylinders 1,2 and 3 and couldn't on 4 so I'm happy that confirms my measurements/ 2-3 thou skirt/bore clearance and fortunately the variation of piston sizes fits well with the bore size variations. so next to polish up a crank and clean up all the main bearing caps and seal housings etc. so I can start throwing things back together.
