  2. So yeah nah I bought some Panasports. Obviously the first thing you do is put them on the car and use your imagination. Then you think hmmm maybe 16x8 +1 on the front and 16x8 +16 on the back is a bit odd so you make like a banana... ...and split. Then you have yourself a pair of 16x7.5 and 16x8.5 Panasports. Test fit to come.

  4. Pulled off all the extra mounts and brackets that I no longer needed and welded up the bottom of the c-notch. Took it to A1 sandblasting who sandblasted and primered it. Looks so much better! I think the next step is to box it, make some new crossmembers and sort out the rear arms.

  5. So, ever since I lowered the wagon ive never been happy with how the front sits. Theres an awful amount of guard gap but I cant go any lower with the standard struts without it resting on the bump stops. I needed to make "JUDDIES" or "JUSTIES" or how ever you young-ens say adjustable suspension. So, with a lot of research and referring to Seedy Als guide I decided to hack up a pair of Sigma struts. I purchased adjustable platforms and top hats from George Stocks. I also purchased a pair of SW20 (i think) rear inserts that were about 50mm shorter which meant I needed to cut the strut tube. Strut tube cut and ready to be welded back together A test fit to see how everything sits. With the different shaft size of the insert I couldnt use the factory top hat. I purchased some adjustable camber plates to suit. A little spacer was made to sit between the top spring perch and the top hat. The top spring perches didnt have a locating indent in them. I got a quote to have this machined fro $200! So I get my maori ingenuity on DONE Ordered some springs with keepers. And all fitted up I trial fitted one strut and found that the spring rate was way too aggressive. At the lowest setting the car was higher than before and was solid. I bought some more springs that have a friendlier spring rate So here are a bunch of pics showing the height before installing the new struts, new struts at max height and new struts at max low (actually could go down another 15mm) New struts - Max height New struts - Max low Measurements taken from top of arch to centre of stub axle Obligatory chassis rail comparison As it sits at max low, im sad to say, its too low. But, I can easily raise it to the perfect height. I had to use my roller blade wheels as the wheels I was using wont fit the new struts. Pics Thanks

  6. Ahh shucks. Thanks man. I still love seeing how big the monthly meets are now and that I can look around and name almost everyone there Yeah living the dream pretty much, and I just couldn't put the time into OS I wanted to, so felt it best to just step aside. I'll still be at every monthly meet and be involved with OS and its events. Xox

  7. id just like to thank Chris for his work and his enthusiasm that has got us to this point. he's always been there and always on board when someone else organises a cruse or event up these ways. its thanks to his work that the auckland burgerfuel meet is such a success. Chris is fulfilling the dream of getting paid to work on cars so he's stepped back from the heady heights of organising OS meets. the OS admin team wish you great success and also the odd leamington or two. you got some big shoes to fill newbies, big shoes, and i wish you all the luck in the world.

We're also looking forward to suggestions from you guys regarding sweet cruise/meet ideas, events you would like to see us take part in and any other suggestions you may have. 12. Didn't trust the standard brakes anymore so, bought the 4 pot Wilwood brake kit with 280mm Brembo discs from MRP. Installed them this afternoon, just need to sort out the braided lines and they are done. Wheel alignment next, then it can go back on the track on the 26th if funds allow.

  15. Just started a page on Facebook to see what interest there is for a Jappa classic car day in Welly, along the lines of the Yank and Brits shows that we see every year. Looking at Moonshine Park in Upper Hutt Sunday 29 Jan 2016. Just thinking that this could be an informal park up, show and shine... to gauge interest. What do you think - going to fly or bomb?? Search for; Wellington classic Japanese car day on facebook and "like" if you like.

  20. beecham jags have all the airbags etc fitted , no mention on the cert plate though so I assume its a grey area ? odd though cause no crumple zone which is key to frontal impact regs on later stuff (bullbar or intercoolers etc are often an issue on Srs equiped cars)

  21. Oh and here are a few ideas that I have for future OS related Auckland events: - Car movie nights, thanks to the infinite film knowledge of Zebra Dude - Summer shed tour (the last one in winter went okay so let's try to top that) - Bicycle rides. Basically driving oldschool cars to a destination and then hooning around on sweet old bikes. - OS presence at Kumeu annual car show (yet to clear this with OS management wizards, just a thought at this stage) - Summertime beach cruise(s) with swimming and BBQing involved There are bound to be other ideas that you guys will come up with so just suggest them to me and I'll see what I can do. Cheers.

  28. sadly nope wont be having more dish. with the narrow beam it allows my wheels to sit further in the guards which allows clearance which allows more low. cant do this hella flush look and slam at the same time like moddern cars do. space wheels out and i wont get any lock. not that i do atm

  38. Well this started way back in July last year.. was getting over a break up & needed to spend some money (not mine but the banks) so thought what better thing than to build a big shed which I've always wanted so I have somewhere to work on my car's.. Borrowing money wasn't a problem..apparently it's ok to have a massive mortgage, so did the ringing around thing for quotes & settled on Waikato Shed Company to supply the kit. Building/Resource consent got approved September/October. Was waiting for a mate to drop his digger around so the old man could prep the site but that was taking ages so got a guy in to do it for me - well fuck me if that didn't blow the budget! Here's me thinking we'll just scrape the surface a little bit & lay down some gravel & shit, but the digger guy suggested I keep the floor level up high to prevent potential flooding off the driveway. Good advice at the time, but 160 cubic metres of metal & $5,200 later I was kinda scratching my head thinking hmmm...what just happened here.. Anyway's, it was all a good thing (convinced myself of this) & the job he did was bloody good I thought.. This got completed back in mid November so I was thinking yea, I'll get this shed up by xmas time!!...yea right.. Tee'd up another mate who is a concrete layer, & he came around when this was done & said "yep looks really good, we'll get this done by early December"...well, let just say I had better communication with his wife than I did with him over the following 2 1/2 months of trying to pin him down to get the job done... Roll on the middle of January & I got a quote from a well known guy in Pukekohe to do the job, & after a bit of phone tag - namely me doing all the ringing & him choosing not to ring me back (same as my mate), I eventually gave up on him too. All I wanted them to do is box & pour the frigging thing, as I was happy to dig the holes, lay the polythene & mesh to save some coin. So, third time lucky - sent a text to Garth at Waikato Shed Company asking if he could recommend anyone. Next morning he gave me a name, called the guy & that afternoon he was around taking a look. So a few days later (Waitangi Day) he came around with his wife who labours for him, & they set up the boxing.. Next day I dug out all of the pad footings & roller door thickening.. And the day after that, I started on the polythene & a good mate of mine came around to help finish off laying the mesh.. Slab got poured the following Thursday by another crew, & they did a mighty fine job.. Even had a little bit left over to fill in some patio squares in front of the house.. Next stage, erection!!!

  39. Shelves & benches were finished off a few weeks ago, just finally got around to running that cable so I could set everything up. I'm really happy how it's all turned out. The idea was to put something together with what I already had, & getting the Metrapanel boards was the final piece to the puzzle. Already had the steel, & this way I could build what I wanted the way I wanted it Had to lift the shelf up with the engine crane it was that fucken heavy! 2.4 x 2.4 & could do with more intermediate shelves but for now it works for me.. Pic's of shelves & benches all finished.. I did have a couple of steel shelves that you can see in the background of one of the previous pic's, but they looked like shit. What I've made is so much more purdy. All I gotta do now is fix down the vice & make some stands out of some wheel rims & steel pipe for the drill press & bench grinder so they're off the work bench

  40. The wheels I have on at the moemnt arent actually mine (thanks Joe) so have been keeping an eye of sorts out for some. Picked these up yesterday. Nothing outrageous, but a bit wider and can still use the same tyres. Trying to find someone in Wellinton who will polish them...... Two are gold as above, two are silver, so will need to do some painting. I quite like the gold, to me they are quintesential for techno phantoms. But ill see what they are liek on the car once polished up. Discussion //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/33955-beavers-wuntwennywhy-coupe/page-34

  42. Here it is back at the start again. Motor has been out, clutch is fitted, van box back together and fitted to the motor. It looks like it will sit the engine about 100mm further forward which is good and bad. Good point is the air intake should be a lot simpler to make. Bad point is I'll have to cut the front out of the chassis and trim the sides to clear the bell housing and starter motor. Big thanks to CUL8R/Chris for finding me a Datsun drive shaft. I've dismantled the UJs and put the input yoke on the rear flange. The rear piece is a home made flange welded to the splined part of the original yoke. I turned it down and made the flange but was having too much fun to take photos. Until next time.

  45. Once the rust work has been carried out next on the list will be finalising the driveline/suspension and steering setup. Items left to have all sorted: -Rear shocks sorted (getting some adjustable konis) -Sort and fit traction rods -Suspension and steering bushes -Driveshaft -RCA knuckles made up -Need to sort out and finish off the clutch setup (just need to sort the fork and get a new flywheel & bolts -Re-sleeve the brake master cylinder for better feel Once the above is sorted, the next bunch of work to look at is: -Sorting out a breather setup -Oil cooler lines plumbed -Engine wired up -Sort some HEL brake lines and bend up the bundy for the other lines -Finalise the handbrake lines -Get a battery -Sort side mount for the alternator Then lastly exhaust and she should be good to go, fire up and tune. I have another set of wheels on order so will have a much more aggressive look soon (will need to run some flares) and will need to look into gauges as well, cheapest option being VDO or Autometer but want to get something period looking so if anyone has any advice/ideas on how to go about it let me know here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/44085-tai-scamps-mazda-1300/ Thanks for looking
