The escort front suspension swap is a interesting one, some things you read say it's great others say it's a complete fark up!

Depends how you do it.

I think people try to bolt a stock escort subframe straight to their Anglia and then an Escort motor onto the mounts and everything is in the wrong place.

Conversely mounting the struts first, cutting the stock subframe mounts off the Escort subframe then sitting all in place until you have the correct castor etc and making mounts to suit that is a much better option.

Have you considered 2zz?

Honestly, this is a great idea. Niteparts now offer a J160 gearbox adaptor for the 2ZZ and will soon have bolt in AE86 engine mounts that could easily be modified to suit an Anglia.

The engines are still cheapish and available, but get in quick because they might disappear if people start RWD 2ZZ converting their old shitboxes.

For something epic in a 105e, id be looking down the rs focus motor with a rx8 box.

All conversion parts are sourced out of the UK..go like snot in standard form.

So many aftermarket add ons available.

With just about any swap youd be looking at firewall mods, suspension and brake upgrades anyway.

Throw in an quaife lsd.

Would be a fun little nugget

It's a great engine. All alloy, high RPM, variable valve timing with lift (like VTEC), quite tunable if you add ITBs and an ECU. All from your Mum's Corolla.

Here's an instagram link to the test engine in Brendan from Niteparts' AE86:

It's only comes in the FielderZ wagons and the Allex/RunX hatchback models.

Up to ~6000rpm they feel the same as a shitty 1ZZ, then the lift kicks in and they keep revving past 8k.

4k and k50 ?

5k would be better if you can find one. Would be more in line with original characteristics by being more oversquare. Hydraulic lifters also make for a better time, with k series they let you get away with a bit more aggressive cam without losing drivability

I have a 2zzge Allex. Goes real good. Lift kicks in at 6400 and starts pulling harder up to 8200 redline. 140 killingwhats apparently.

I reckon now must be the best/cheapest time for sourcing these engines. Not uncommon to see at PickAPart now.

Yeah, the TS Sport had a 2ZZ, also >99 Celica, plus the WiLL Vs, oh and the Toyota Voltz had a GT version with one. Why the MR-S never had it blows my mind.

2.7 petrol Hilux/hiace motor (not sure of code) and matching manual box (R154?)

3RZ. They came with a W series box too.

Can buy a 1500hp kit for them from paradise racing too
