Ok - Next question -

I would like to figure out if my boat (jet - so 1 extra rpm is 1000 more hp and 100 extra kph) is limited to 2650rpm by the pump throttle arm travel limiter screw, or limited by it already being at max torque output. (Max rated rpm is 2800)

The screw is wound pretty much all the way "in" and has a security crimp tag on it.

So i should back the limiter/stop  screw off a bit and see if the rpm's rise. An extra 150 rpm will be like 8 knots so i'm pretty keen to try as it only does ~25knots now.

It was built/owned by the airport rescue people who would be pretty conservitive, interestingly the hand throttle lever could only ever reach 75% of travel before being limited by the injector pump stop screw which i thought was really gammy and hard to drive so i modified the pivot point.

They make the "pleasure boat" version of this motor with a different turbo that makes an extra 150hp, so if the screw doesn't make it go faster ill swap the turbo.

Dunno about jet boat hulls but a normal hull has a cruising speed. you can tip double the juice down its gob and get 1/2 knot more speed.

also, the pleasure boat motor will probably have different cams, fuel pumps, injectors etc. as well as turbo. I have seen same series of motor in pleasure boat and Genset application. 60l sump and 50 hr oil changes, double the horsepower, 40% duty, vs 150L sump and 750 hr oil changes making 1/2 the power at 100% duty cycle. Apples aint apples.   Just filled the day tank now, 9500L for 24 hrs on the 2 stroke diesel V8. What do you think about that greta

She is a planing hull, with enough power it will go faster and faster until it topples off its chine/r.i.p

I had a look through the manuals and it just seems to be the turbo that’s noteworthy, bigger picture this motor needs to be replaced with something more modern and fuel efficient, being eco unfriendly is too expensive when there’s plenty of re-man mid 2000’s common rail marine engines on ebay

So not sure if this is the right place for this, but after a bit of advice. Years back I bought a few 215/50/13 Bridgestone eager brand new cause "eagers". Fast forward 10 or 15 years still have them unused never fitted to rims and no use for them, lots of people want to own them, but I've got no idea what they are worth. Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

I bought a set of new 14" ones about 10 years ago and I think they were $250 each or thereabouts

But 13" ones were not remade as far as I know and are now super rare so I guess you could ask whatever you like? If someone wanted to do a period correct car with 13s they would be a key ingredient

I asked 1 of the people what they would pay and they said "oh ah around 500 each" which really started me wondering what they are actually worth.    As you said though, ya can't get them anymore, so price just comes down to how much someone wants them I guess. I think I'll just go with the highest offer between them and be done with it, someone may as well get some use from them

I'd suggest starting at 1k each and see how you go.

Ove heard of people paying silly sums for worn out ones even.

Maybe @Cullen might have an idea? I know he runs them on his Mazda

Yeah I have only ever seen "set of 4x, 3 have cords hanging out 1 may be warrantable asking $ stupid ammount" etc. Don't come across very many new ones

Hens teeth now. Upwards of $2500 a set probably. I contemplated offering my set up for $2000 at one point. Maybe ask $750 each and see what the consensus is. Crap tyres. Should probably just burn them or put on the silage.

I was really looking for first hand answers like this. One of the reasons mine stayed brand new was due to the fact of how bad they actually were. I'll put a high price on them and see how it all goes.

Semi ling but not really worth starting a thread, has anyone mucked around with the Holden 3.8 motors? Pretty keen on another fun car but priced out of VL's, VN SS' etc. Seen a few people in Aussie with turbo 3.8's, anyone done it? Just want a fun street car that I could do the odd skid in/take to the drags occasionally. Thinking 255's, LSD and a turbo (just want it to do hektik doses tbh). Sound plausible or nah? Also inb4 V6's are yuck.
