• TLDR: M$ turned off an old sharing thing, and broke many many systems shares.
  • Steps 1 - 5 are: IT'S EVERYONE ELSE'S JOB TO FIX THE THING WE BROKE
  • Steps 6 on are WELL OK, BUT IT'S NO CARE AND NO RESPONSIBILITY

Naturally none of steps 5-6, nor 8. to 8.e have fixed it.

I managed to hook up to my NAS after installing win11, but in a way I didn't understand nor can replicate.

Tried all those, some are repeats, no further progress

I can get into the "Shared folder" but not the local user folder.

I can share folders within the local user folder and see them on another computer, but not open them, comes back as location not found.

Power cables:  What's the proper name for the plug that looks a bit like an inverted triangle with the "peak" flattened off - Reasonably common on PCs etc.  

Next question: Are they available with the cord exiting at 90° instead of straight put the back? I'm after a right side exit and a left side exit.

So funny story about those, I was talking with Nathan about them about a year or so ago. 

He said something like "What? Nah no way you bought one, they stopped manufacturing CRTs in 1996 or something like that" 

and I said "Well, I bought one brand new, so you must be wrong"

Then it had a QC sticker on it from 1996. (or whenever) Haha.

There's an arduino library to interface with them, seems like a simple single wire output and you can do some cool stuff. 
However one of my cats knocked mine off the desk and it chipped the housing so never got around to having a go with it. 

I think VFDs are probably the coolest looking retro screen type. But quite expensive & usually small

don you have an overflowing drawer of old computer cables? can you dig through for a cd-rom to soundcard internal cable for me. little 4 pin job

 

*bought a 2 speed cdrom with one attached. my pc for sure needs 3 cd drives too!
