RUNAMUCK Posted August 13, 2023 Author Posted August 13, 2023 I say send it. I've always liked flares. Even 5hough the ones on my old tanga were the shitty generic TE27 Levin flares. 1 Quote

Beaver Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Are you going to cut the guards so you can fit wide wheels/slam, or are the flares just going to stick out and the wheel/height combo will fit the guards themselves? Reason I ask is that if it's the second option then in my opinion flares look silly as they stick way out and serve no real purpose. If the flares are so you can fit a tough wheel/height combo and need to cut the guards then I offer a firm hand shake. But it's your car so do whatever you want, will be super rad either way. 2 Quote
shizzl Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 If I run the flares, itāll be to have a wider track width. Ie spacers all round, cut the guards out. The front needs to be raised and positioned better. Ā will get the bags in first.Ā I may not use them if it forces the wheels into the firewall with the spacers. flares will be the last thing to decide onĀ 1 Quote
Bling Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 A vote here for no flares if you can make it work. I just really like how that current front wheel arch design is shaping up. It will still look sweet if you fit more dish in by going flares, but vote stands. Especially if going spacers and no more cell phones fitting in the lip. 2c etc, great project. 6 Quote
BlownCorona Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 i also vote no flares unless the wheels were going to fill them out about 2 - 3 inchs further than that photo. It looks (in my minds eye looking to the future) so clean with just the rx nose grafted on like factory.Ā 1 Quote
oldrx7 Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Agree with no flares - I don't have a good imagination so can't picture them 'looking right' if that makes sense. The work you've done so far on the front guards looks good, and if the mega dished moojays can work with no flares then that gets my vote! 1 Quote
shizzl Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Walked into the workshop this morning, the front flare had fallen off overnight. Ā Must say I also prefer the no flare look with super deep chromos . Ā in other dumb purchase news: I picked up a GM electric power steering unit today. Not sure what Iāll use it for yet. But will work well with a Yaris rack or something like that for a rack conversion. 1 Quote
Leone Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 another vote for no flares... plus a 2nd one from the misso 1 Quote

Ā Yeah Iām pretty keen to make it a clean simple build and cruise it.Ā Iāll still bag the other one. wouldnāt mind swapping the 12at for a 13b bp for it. Not a slider at all, so can use a s1 box with it. ( I have 2 x s1 boxes and the s2 turbo box). RX3UTE can stay the weekend show pony with the rowdy J 1 Quote
shizzl Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Currently looking into making a whole new loom for both uteās.Ā being 40 years old, the wiring is a mess. Ā hoping I can figure out the pin outs on all of the factory switches. will get a universal loom kit. Just need to figure out how many circuits I need. probably a 14 for one and a 21 for the bagged ute as it has electric seats, pumps, and may end up with a couple of actuators Quote
