  1. Is he the deputy mayor?
  2. Looks like google says its not around anymore, do you have a full name i might be able to track him down on FB or something
  3. Yea i see a heap of the gen 2 ones on FB when i was over there, but the Gen 1 version is certainly a bit harder to find.
  4. Update, Wanaka Car museum does have one, but it's on the list to be restored.
  5. Spent a few hours on Saturday with the panel beater working out a plan of attack, more really where to start, almost every panel will need to be unstitched repaired or replaced. He has asked me to see if i can find any donor vehicles to save having to make so many internal pieces, have put a call out on FB but am hoping anyone who might be following this might also have any leads on 78/79 Leone/Brumby that is crashed/rotting away to take cuts from (anywhere NZ) its a long shot... I know. Someone said the Wanaka car museum might have one so I'll give them a call today, and i have someone checking Horipto motors as they have/had one rusting away there, although that one when i seen photos probably 10 years ago was in much worse condition than mine. Sorry didn't get any photos but will be back soon to start drilling out spot welds and will post a heap then.
  6. Dunno how well these photos are going to come out. Screenshots from messenger. Back from blasting…. Can’t wait to inspect it in the new year
  7. Havent really got a timeframe in mind, butif we doing a bit of a roady, maybe Feb over the long weekend for recoverys sake.
  8. EA81 = very reliable, sure its had blown head gaskets for 5+ years (LOL!) but it still manages to go everywhere i need, putting a later model engine is downgrading the reliability by a large factor. I was thinking of the Vulcan, im pretty sure they had a cheap sunday roast still... might be a bit far for some people... i also was thinking of other older pubs around, IE the Beaumont hotel etc Im sure there is a triagulated point for the majority... mainly gauging interest to see if it would be worthwhile trying to arrange something.
  9. Hi Team, Not too sure how many Dunedin people are on here, any interest in a meetup and wee cruise somewhere? Cheers
  10. Doing some research around upgrading the brakes/5sud conversion on the Leone: Assuming i took the LCA to a machinist and said i want a 10Deg tapered hole it would be pretty straight forward, but what about certifying it? Would it need any type of paperwork or is this relatively common/not that big of a deal? Your lower control arm will need to be modified/reamed to accept the EJ ball joint. The old Brumby ball joint has a 7° taper hole and the EJ ball joint needs a 10° taper hole. Most machine shops can do this for you, . Once that is done the EJ ball joint and steering knuckle is a direct bolt in fit to the control arms. The factory Brumby tie rod ends also now bolt directly to the EJ steering knuckle.
  11. Repair cert man came and gone. Not sure exactly how it went down (somewhat 3rd party managed due to work/his convenience) but had the go ahead to progress so it’s at the blasters now and should be back sometime next week… now we wait. Pic:100% stripped and anything to hinder the process removed/cleaned.
  12. Agree, I think it would look crisp in brown
  13. Yea ill plus 1 the primer and guide coat haha! And to continue the trend, mirror tints all round, including the front window.
  14. a thread of misfortune.... its not great news... hopefully this can be saved... but i'm not holding much hope. gunna talk to the guy about a refund :Sigh: Edit: engine turns over freely until it doesn't (gets to this point)
  15. Thanks to a quick loan of @azzurros engine crane today to lift the motor over the rad support, engine is on the mounts. Thought I took a pic of it sitting in the bay… appears not so here is one of it on the way in lol! Looks like the jack mount has to go to fit the supercharger, but ran out of cutting discs so tomorrow mish now
  16. Yes excellent…. That’s what I’ll say it is!!
  17. Oops…. I slipped while surfing trademe. Now I’m prolly in trouble with the finance manager.
  18. Took today off work and got a heap more sorted. Fuel tank, diff and mounts, all glass and all door insides are now removed. Rust repair cert has been arranged for next week, not looking too forward to the list but it will provide a good amount of direction for the panel beater and I. Few stripped screws causing some issue but nothing a drill won’t fix haha
  19. Found a cheap ej22 to go with the gearbox, now the fun and games begin
  20. Yea i bought it from the yanks, hence the relaxed nature about the rust! I might still be missing one person, hopefully Mark will have some history and i wonder if he sold it to the yanks
  21. Bit of an update to whats been happening here, reached out to one of the old owners and he has replied, hoping he will send thru some pics/yarns about the car, on mesanger and may not be a regular FB user so might take some time, patience is a virtue. Also started dummying up an ej setup to a spare shell i have, am missing some parts if anyone has any junk lying around that was destined for the scrap bin, casually looking for the following in any condition: pair of EJ twin cam heads/head bolts/cam covers - can be incomplete/cracked etc pair of EJ engine mounts Gearbox shifter/linkage and the rear mount piece it slots into Gearbox mount or if anyone has a wrecked (more likely blown up) quad cam Subaru they want to offload for scrap, please shout out.
  22. Yea, lets gooo!
  23. i wouldnt worry about failed project cars in the past lol, whenever i get stuck, i just force myself to do ten mins towards the project per evening, even the smallest amount of effort over time adds up quickly, also the 10 mins usually turns into an hour or so and suddently im way past where i thought id be...
  24. They bellies a critical fashion piece... hope someone finds it soon.... haha
  25. Past this beast on the way home, finally got home around 3, shower then bed. Woke up at 7 for water. Slept to 7am. great yarns….look forward to the next round
