Roman Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Havent most people gone back away from the bike carb thing? Thought they ended up being pretty average for power / economy / everything but doort.(I am in no way implying that it's still not a valid reason)I drove Rot808s car one time and it was maaaagnificentWould sound awesome on a six. Rookie Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 The only reason not to use bike carbs is that EFI is better. If you want cheap side draughts then bike carbs are still the go to. 2 Quote
Spencer Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Yup bike carbs are sweet. Like anything there is a learning curve, you have to pick the right size for your engine and then get a wideband and tune it. Most people with issues have just banged them on and change some jets that the internet said then wonder why its not running well. Also you basically just end up with 4 SU'sif you use CV carbs, you need to use flat slides to be a man. 2 Quote
igor Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Nothing wrong with SUs if you like dinosaurus old technology. Geezer I got my Wolseley from reckoned they're a prick to tune if you have more than one though. Quote
Testament Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 use 6 SU's and sign a pact with the devil at the crossroads then remain stuck at the crossroads forver because 6 su's 3 Quote
Testament Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 3d print a 4bbl manifold and run an ultra dominator on a 6cyl or you're a wuss 1 Quote
Rookie Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Fuck off Tom, Holley should be banned from making carbs. 1 Quote
igor Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I found a Holley carb and manifold in the grass behind one of my sheds a couple of years ago. Off some old four banger. Think it's a Ford A or T as I've found a few other parts there too. Quote
Steelies Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 had nothing but success with the CBR Keihin crabs on the starlet. probably got lucky but i still many recommend. 1 Quote
Spencer Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 BIke carbs are what they are, if you succeed or fail is all on the user. Same as EFI or anything else. 1 Quote
Steelies Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 blech, too general a comment. everything we do is up to us. what you want to do here is talk shit about your favourite thing for someone else to do. Quote
peteretep Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I have only had good experiences working with bike carbs, would recommend for cheap additions Quote
sentra Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 is there such a thing as a cam-over-valve style flat lifter that has a roller? Quote
UTERUS Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 is there such a thing as a cam-over-valve style flat lifter that has a roller? Toyota L series diesel have the (overhead) cam next to the lifters, the rocker arm has a roller on the cam end but I can't remember what happens at the valve end. Quote
Brock-Lee Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I want to buy this. Seems like a great way to get rid of gross as crap surge tanks. Buy one the rough shape of your tank, run pickup through inspection hatch at top of tank. No splosions, no extra pumps, not thaat expensive. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/hydramat/ Tell me how I can be so wrong 1 Quote
Rookie Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 If it works like they say it does then I will definitely be getting in on that action. Who wants to be the guinea pig? Quote
Brock-Lee Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 iknowrite I really want to put one in the Ute but as a guinea pig I'm terrible as that will be the year 2025 and Bluetooth fuel systems will be the way. 2 Quote
Rookie Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Yea, and I'm out as I won't be playing with cars for a while. Spencer maybe? Quote
