The ones I used often from way back when are a kiwi made linishall. Design had not changed in years. Rugged and they work really well, plus the long belt lasts a long time - important in a busy engineering workshop. Also good that you can stand right next to it and not be bending your back which is handy when you might have 100 items that all need a skim.

But fucking expensive!!! * so I'm collecting the bits to fabricate my own because I miss not having one about..

Righto geezers,

I installed engine. Check

got it running. Check

put it in gear. Check

drive. Fail

something between the flywheel and driveshaft is locking up.
I’ve lifted it off the ground, ran forward a few seconds then locked, same for reverse.

any ideas oh wise folk??

If you put it in neutral and let the clutch out, anything happen?

Sounds like it could be in two gears at once?

My ro-tang (eleventy billion years ago) has bolts anchoring the selector forks to the rods. One undid itself after a pretty hefty high speed run. (The 2/3 one, but in nuetral) Maybe one of yours has come out in gear? So when you hook 1st or reverse, it's in two gears, and cant go anywhere.

Theres plates on the side of the gearbox which afford access to the forks. (Likely not in the car though)

Sounds a little like 2 gears selected.. Has anyone been fiddling with the gearbox?

How much does it rotate before coming to a stop?

I'd start by running the prop shaft by hand with the box in neutral and go from there.. Maybe disconnect at diff end if you can't tell which end is stopping the turnage.

Edit : too slow I didn't copy @RUNAMUCKhonest..

no fiddlers been in there, just been hanging out waiting for the engine. Operated sweet before.

it’s rotates about a foot or so

Yeah - Or a cracked selector fork not getting enough travel to slide back off.
