Popular Post kicker
95% done now, still need to add few minor bits, a little bit more paint and knock up the verandah roof. The interior will get some attention but nothing fancy, just lined with something and painted.

Popular Post GuyWithAviators
Here's a thing that @Geophy made for me. I've seen a few of these tyres of carriers around but none of them looked that skookum, either sitting on the tow ball or hitch mount. So much weight flopping all over the place. Sent Geophy some sketches then trucked down to Hamilton after work on Friday and he already had the majority of it welded up. Gave him a hand to finish it off and get it lined up with the truck. Used the most appropriate tool, forklift. We welded some box section to the outer of the towbar assembly and have it secured with bolts through there. It's strong! Had both of us jumping up and down on it (we aren't small dudes) and it didn't move.
Popular Post GuyWithAviators
Then I spent a while trying different bikes on it and figuring out the best way to tie stuff down to it. @Geophy bent up some bar for each corner as tie down points, as well as the entire mesh floor being strong enough to tie down to - even more so after I mig'd each tab down to the frame. Then I gave it a lick of paint, some reflectors, and then $16 Aliexpress 24v LED lights for it - attached with rivnuts, wired up with a trailer plug. Also added a number plate and u-bolt around the towball to stop the little up and down movement it had inside the box section. It's real test is coming soon when I use this rack to take my Yamaha V50 to Christchurch and back. It handled my Honda CT90 to Whitianga and back fine, so I'm confident!

igor
So how long actually is it?
kyteler
It's cool man but I reckon you could set the horizontals up so it sits above the towball that way you could tow a trailer as well as have that on, for extra load carrying awesomeness! Like this __/¯¯ Also put some gussets under the section below the mesh platform. Also also, if you laid the mesh on top and ran the slide ins through the centre of the box you could weld some angle on the bottom that you stow two lengths of smaller box that you could use as a ramp for pushing them up.

Mof
Problem with putting a trailer under it is if you go through a culvert the drawbar might whack the rack. And depending how high, might not be able to lower the tailgate

And depending how high, might not be able to lower the tailgate It would only need to be the same height as the top of the bumper so no different opening and closing as when the bike was on (obviously if towing a trailer that would be connected first.)
