Seedy Al
So from what I can gather, efi toyota crowns run an external fuel pump. Would one assume that the fuel tank between carb and efi would be the same. .? Seems like something toyota would do. Carb model already runs a return line..... Thoughts? Roman
In the Toyotas where there's an in tank EFI fuel pump vs carb models, the carb fuel tank has significantly fewer baffles / no baffles for whatever reason. Possibly the same for situation with external pump.
Seedy Al
Am going to pull the pick up out abd have a look anyway to see what the internal deal is. Shame I totally forgot when I pulled the tank out that the last thing I did before getting a pink sticker was full the car up. 60l tank is fucken heavy
jakesae101
Has anyone had any experience with doing launch control and rev limiter diy on a carbed car ? see you can buy them at 2-300$$. Surely something can be done with an arduino keen to put a rev limiter on my rally car for when I get a bit too rev happy and avoid any damage when getting airborne. Saw someone on here had done it with a mx5 using ecu inputs ect
NickJ
there was a kit from jaycar that killed/cut distributor pulses a while back, was quite simple. And here it is http://www.jaycar.co.nz/Kits,-Science-%26-Learning/Electronic-Project-Kits/Automotive/KIT---CAR-REV-LIMITER-GEAR-SHIFT-04-99/p/KC5265
jakesae101
seems as the other kit you need to make it is no longer available
NickJ
From memory it uses the other kit as a switch to do the ignition cut and shield itself from the voltage spikes in the primary ignition circuit Looking at the board, it looks like a 555 timer and transistor, you'll be able to clone the transistor circuit easy enough KC5255ImageMain-515Wx515H
downtrail
Or this http://www.jaycar.co.nz/Kits%2C-Science-%26-Learning/Electronic-Project-Kits/Automotive/Frequency-Switch/p/KC5378 Use it to trigger a relay to cut power to coil
h4nd
Although you might get some out of sync firings that way, as the field in the spark coil collapses?
Seedy Al
On Sunday I was all keen to run a surge tank etc, then I measured up where it would go and how much fuel line I would need to buy, at about 8 Meters of EFI fuel line I concluded fuck that, am just going to run an inline pump and see what happens, can re-asses later on if I find I'm getting surge while swinging O's
Steelies
jeah, love the OS/non sheepers way - 'do it once, do it right' + cost of doing it right = throw bare minimum in there and see how long it lasts, multiple times

Seedy Al
Still not as cheap as I have been hoping, once factoring in Pump bracket and fittings, but meh, I could make my own bracket, but for $30 I cant be fucked.

Roman
Where's a good place to buy brake pads, near Penrose or West Auckland? Went to Race Brakes last time but I think some people said there were cheaper places to get the same thing. So where else to go? Looking for some Ferodo DS2200 or similar for nissan 4 pots. Sterling only had standard road pads.

flyingbrick
Hey is HPC coating still a done thing/ worth the cost for an exhaust? I saved heaps by getting mild steel exhaust stuff BUT am now thinking hpc silver would be nice... Does it stop the zorst rusting/don't they rust from the inside out anyway? Yowzer
They coat the insides too I believe. Bloody expensive to do though, I looked into it for my churbro manifold but wasn't willing to part with the better part of 5 hundy
