  2. Pffft.. forget all earlier delusions of short deadlines. No progress here but I did finally get this visor on the car. Did a swap with Azzurro and this thing fits perfect. Thanks man! Big thanks to the OS delivery system too. You know who you cool cats are. I even sat in the car and made broom broom noises and hung my arm out the window. Now why would I ever think of selling this thing??

  11. Popped out to see Nick at Kapiti Vapour Blasting on Monday, nice guy, told me all about the process he follows and showed me some of his recent work, which looked pretty sharp. His turnaround times are quick, said he'd have my stuff done in a couple days. Will post some pics when I pick the parts up.

  15. This is the thread of my 105e Ford Anglia, last year we got it to the point to be drive-able up to Kaikoura from Christchurch. Its nearly been a year now and i now have my learners license. So i decided to do it up properly as my first car. My discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/53164-105e-ford-anglia-shannon-discussion/ My Brothers Anglia Fourm: http://oldschool.co....105e/?hl=jorden Here is my dads Ford Falcon (XP) http://oldschool.co....l-supercharged/ Here is the link to the proper journey to Kaikoura in two weeks. http://oldschool.co....glia/?hl=anglia Below is how we bought it for $1000 with nearly everything with it. It has around 86-7ish thousand miles on the clock. Before we drove it to Kaiakoura. Once we had it ready we got it registered and we put a warrant on the day we left. After we got home my dad used it for a run about car for a while and then it got parked up for a few months. Now im happy to say that in those few months i drove the car. This was the first car i had ever driven by myself (On the property of course). Now after another few months of sitting there it was my turn to do it up properly so i started the strip down. Everything came off the exterior except the handles and the window washer/wiper motors and also the chrome. And this is how it stood. We took the motor out this weekend. We put the motor in my brothers so it could get re-vinned. This is the only real rust on the car, theres also some on the boot: Im looking for Mk2 Cortina struts (Disc Brake Setup) message me please if you know of any The whole car is now bare metal excluding the roof and the engine bay so it will soon be ready for undercoat. Engine bay almost done My brothers wheels on my car Some pretty exciting news! while cleaning out the garage we found some undercoat. Its in a massive barrel. We tested it to make sure it was fine and it is. So im going hard out on my car at the moment finishing out all of the nitty stuff that i dont want to do A bit of surface rust, i guess this just shows that its been a while... Door jams The under small bit under the front and back guards/wheel wells. And finally the bit above the windows, thats really hard to get into with the wire wheel. So exciting time ahead!

  18. So i got the best delivery ever this morning stoked beyond words i dont think ive ever owned anything that shiny before... i ran outside and test fit them straight away yea they're wide... i decided when i ordered the lips id fit the car around the wheels so ive got some work to do I got some 175/65 tyres put on and tried them on again I think the plan will be a bit lower profile tyres much more guard work and drop the whole car another inch Went hard with the guard roller and achieved minor flaring no way near enough though. Been tossing up whether to cut my inner guards and tack them higher then i could pump them way more Have so much to do before Chrome expression next weekend hopefully i can get it sitting a bit better

  19. Took this for a blat and kicked the tyres. Seems ok for a gross old Toyota boat lol. Might need a new battery, but it still did reluctantly start after allegedly sitting two weeks. Reluctant to crank, but kicked into life sweet. He reckons some joker rang up about it so sounds like he'll let it go for the reserve price as a buy now but no less.

  20. Yeah thinking it may pay to cut it open and see if it can be turned down or something, or use it as a shell for a smaller dia one to hide inside ... something

  21. It's been a looooong time. But I have actually made much progress no laziness here... Car has now been properly tuned and has been driven several successful times- have switched back from electronic ignition to a lucas dizzy as the electronic kit I bought was a bit of a let down. I am starting to sort out the finishing touches- have got an aeroscreen for it many reasons for this including the fact that I don't want to phaff around with wiper motors + unlikely to be actively pursue driving in the rain, interior is underway also. Trying to get it looking as tidy as possible before the warrant finally happens. Drives nice, pulls away in 4th with minimal encouragement on the throttle. No recent photos but will suss that for the next post. One other thing.... haven't sorted a bonnet yet- will need to be the last thing made and there will need to be a hole in it as the manifold is on an angle. Legalities of getting a WOF with no bonnet in the meantime? Guess i'm following the hot rod scene where t buckets often don't run a bonnet at all. Should say i'm not running a mechanical fan, have an electric shrouded one, nothing else protrudes to the point where a pedestrian would be impaled. In saying that... if you found yourself in a position to be hit by this I would recommend a big jump.... Discussion and thoughts? Cheers //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/46798-hkm400s-1969-lotus-7-series-3/

  23. From memory the Starter solenoid is on the other side of the starter motor on a Left Hook also on the ones with ADR stuff on . I remember that from when I worked at Mazda NZ. If you are talking about the reverse switch on a gearbox use a magnetic reed switch they are fairly small or move it so the lever position makes it work Easy peasy

  24. Well. Probably a premature post, & an unobtainable deadline for me but here goes... I'm giving myself 10 weeks today to get this car all tarted up & on the road. Why 10 weeks?...meh, well just cos..for now. Now I'm not renowned for meeting these kinda deadlines with cars/work/etc... I've had this car since March this year & I said (to whoever was listening at the time) I'd get it on the road by Xmas, & I still haven't started cos of life & always other things going on. Belonged to a mate of mine I met thru crossfit & found out about it when he brought his mint little SSS in one day & mentioned he had a '73 HQ he was contemplating moving on (pic for reference & requisite drool).. This is how it sat when I first saw it (and fell in love with it).. I've always wanted a '73 HQ. Grew up riding in the back seat of mum & dad's HQ Comm. Games car, year I was born, yadda yadda yadda.. Meant I had to downsize the collection (of rusty cars), so I sold the HQ race car, HJ one tonner, FJ40 Landcruiser & Torana sedan. Felt good to downsize to be honest & in reality when would I ever get around to getting all these cars done?? Here's where it sat for a few months while the shed was being built.. In transit to it's new abode..fun stuff doing this shit by yourself & trying not to hit anything.. Yawn..

  25. So a word of warning, remember to close your bonnet when you leave the house! Otherwise this happens: Scary as shit when it flies up, had to steer off onto the shoulder of the motorway blind. Felt like a right muppet. I was working on it the night before and just left the bonnet resting closed without latching it on, then got up for work, backed out half asleep without noticing it wasn't properly latched. Surprisingly little damage, the bonnet is fine, and it couldn't get anywhere near the windscreen. The cowling is pretty fucked, you can see in the top photo where the bonnet struts have sheared through the metal. Bonnet has moved back a few cm, I can only just get it latched closed now. This weekend, I'll be pulling the front of the car apart again to see what I can do to fix it. Another couple of dents for the collection.

  30. started on the sill rust , has a good productive thursday ( had the day off with no kids , grinding all morning then went to work and made some replacement panels) few tricky bits but shouldnt be too bad. this the bottom of the a piller, rusted out from the inside, looks bad but have a plan of how to weld new steel in this part will be welded in to bottom of a piller, made a cut in the bottom of part( the 200x40 cut ) so i can weld from under car (inner side of the inside of A pillar) and also from the inside of the car/foot well(to weld to outer of the inside of A pillar) then will patch the cut.

  31. Swoon. That side pipe would sound awesome i reckon There's this too, which is actually pretty tidy: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/ford/auction-1124731653.htm Also, there has been some progress of late. Did the CV boots, rear springs, assorted fluids and clutch master cylinder. Hopefully that's all the future-proofing the car requires Had to evict a Basil from the top of the engine block. ('Would you like a biscuit with your rat?' etc) And removed the oil restrictors. This was the rear one, with a large chunk of rubber wedged in it. We assume (or hope) that it's a bit of anti-drain back valve from an oil filter, because that's basically the only bit of rubber between the oil pump and restrictors. The worrying question, though, is whether there is any more of it floating around in the oilways... Cranked it over on the starter motor a few times and flushed several sump-fulls of oil through the galleries, there were no more bits of rubber, but does that prove it's all gone? The two options are: -Flush it some more, put it all back together and hope -Pull the bottom end down, perhaps for no reason...

  36. So have been busy getting through the cert list and nearly ready to go for a final check and hopefully a cert plate! Did a before and after comparison of the engine bay from when i bought to now: Massive thanks to Toby at BOP Polishers for the polishing, Mikey for the painting, Spun by Hutty for the trumpets, Eze Auto Electrics for the wiring job as well as Lakes Automotive in TGA for the hours at night helping me get shit sorted! Also Greg aka 64Valiant aka Midnight Upholstery was working for every hour possible before beach hop to get my car done amongst others, But wouldnt let me leave the shop till he gave the boot a quick trim. This is only temporary as have made a panel to go around the airbag tank and will trim this and the side panels to match the seats, Have bent up some 3/8 alloy hardlines for all lines going into the valve box to tidy that up and theyll be off to Toby for some polishing also. Should be sharp in theory! Talk among yourselfs http://oldschool.co....westpala/page-9

  42. I drove the Starion for a few weeks once the WOF was done, then headed to Europe for 5 weeks on holiday, and now I'm back again. The new shocks completely transform the car (the original shocks were totally fucked). It's now sitting slightly higher in the back and slightly lower in the front (which looks pretty spot on). The front tyres seem to just be catching the guard lip at full lock so I'll take a look at that when I get a moment. Other wise it's running beautifully. Hopefully I'll be able to get to a couple of meets this summer.

  44. So now we have a house with a bigger garage, ive got this at home. Stripped the interior out today as it was FULL of rat poos, old rubbish from the 80s, pictures of jeebus, pencils and 2c coins, and a rug with a tiger on it. floor looked good from underneath, and even better on top, its like a new one, sweet!
