chris r Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 How heavy do you need the rollers? I've got some 8g rollers you can have of you need them Quote
Raizer Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 Cheers man! Think I'm running 6x5.5 now, have an inkling that somewhere around 6x7 should be close, if it's not heavy enough I'll suss you out next weekend! 1 Quote

Raizer Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 Tons of travel left there! Swapped the 5.5g rollers out for the 7g ones that came with the variator kit, didn't test ride it beyond the driveway as I had 0 brakes lol. Paints still shit, @Bellicose we might need to have a chat about a spray job if your keen at some point? 3 Quote
Popular Post Raizer Posted January 18, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted January 18, 2018 Test ride at @MopedNZ's work showed my rear shock is fucked Fuck. @Shakotom and @GuyWithAviators came through with securing this bitch for me Late model as fuck, has the wide "Canopy" type engine and other goodies that I'm stoked to have so yeah that's a win!! Shock seemed all good to me, so will swap it into mine to use temporarily. Win. Chur guys!! 11 Quote
Popular Post Raizer Posted January 19, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted January 19, 2018 Sitting on @64vauxhall's the rear dropped about 2cm, sitting on mine it dropped something like 8cm! So with the help of one of Greg's customers and a bunch of OSGCs and Moped NZ dudes we got the shock out of my Green one. Gave Greg, @flyingbrick and @Geophy a hand with getting there scoots ready for tomorrow. @Shakotom delivered my new one to Midnight and we swapped the shock out of it into the Green one, then took it, Greg's Gyro and my Suzuki for a spot of late night test pesting With @chris r and @Tumeke, super happy to say the suspension problem is sorted!! Even got to experience Te Rapa straight traffic light drags first hand haha!! Was enough Gyro riding for my foam levels to repleanish and reach the point of max bung fizz! But sadly I've made the call and it's out for today's ride, it's just jetted way too lean at WOT and I'm just out of time and energy to tune it, not going to be the guy stopping the ride to swap jets and check plugs all the time! At least my Suzuki is fun though. Oh and the new Gyro is indeed super late model, engines covered in emissions shit, massive DC CDI box and all sorts of nifty parts! It even runs well after a touch of TLC!! 10 Quote
Popular Post Raizer Posted January 23, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted January 23, 2018 My first attempt at video editing a GoPro video and first attempt to edit/add music lol. Have learnt that the green Gyro takes a rather long time to warm up and clear it's throat too, seems to be a Gyro thing though, Greg's brown one and my Plan B both take a fair bit of time to run smoothly when started from cold. The 90mj is a fair bit too lean for it, just took a while to warm up enough to show up fully. WeBike have shocks for it, but as there dangerous goods it's fucking stupidly high shipping (gas shocks) Can easily get ones like this that guys use in Zoomers etc but I don't think the spring rate will be high enough for the Gyro And I finally got to have a bit of a look over the new white one, it turns out for be about a 2002 model, has the late model wide engine like I swapped into mine from a Canopy model. Also DC ignition with a massive CDI box, emissions crap running all over the place and a few bits that will find there way onto my green one like the tail light extension panel! Had to have a play with it at Greg's, so with @Tumeke, @flyingbrick, @chris r etc's help/taking the lead while I watched as I was shattered and desperate for food and sleep at this point! After finding a couple broken wires and draining the really nasty petrol out it came back to life with a good squirt of engine start and a lot of kicking Pretty sure the belt is broken, it'll rev happily but theres no sign of movement, will have a look in the next day or so. Think I'm going to attempt to just give this one a tidy up, maybe a couple new plastics and remove all the emissions crap from it. The tail light extension and a couple bits like the DC ignition system may eventually find there way onto my Green one in the future too... Was keen to get it to the Old School Jap meet on Sunday, but just ended up too short on time and just didn't make it 15 Quote

flyingbrick Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 lololol Chris you beat me to it.. I was loling when he said we "took the lead" Quote
igor Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Love the Hamilton night pesting video. Any amusing reactions from those in the car beside you at the traffic lights? 1 Quote
Popular Post Raizer Posted January 26, 2018 Author Popular Post Posted January 26, 2018 The driver clearly thought it was hilarious, was cracking up revving back etc, the chick in the passengers seat looked like she dug it though! Just wish I'd had the carb and CVT dialled in, would have loved to have left the wagon behind haha! The manager of the local BNT came around tonight after work, reckoned we may be able to get the worn out shock rebuilt and revalved through one of their suppliers, could be an option! Oh and the reason the manager of BNT came round my place on a Friday evening? Because he's an epic GC and came to give me a hand to unload and set up the new toy he'd sold me... Should make things a lot easier in future, love the air over hydraulic pump! 11 1 Quote

Raizer Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 Will be in touch for sure! Have done pretty much nothing at all to the Green one since my last post, got a decent shock on back order at least. Added a battery and fixed a broken earth wire on Plan B, been pesting about on it a bit. So that brings us to the white one, as mentioned a while back it starts and send to run fine, but no drive. Figured it was a snapped belt so finally got around to chucking it on the lift tonight, first hint that I wasn't going to find great things came when I pulled the hub off and the brake lining fell off... After a lot of percussive persuasion the CVT cover popped off, sure enough the belt is toast. Normally it'd just be a case of a bit of cleaning before fitting a new belt and that'd be the anticlimactic end to this post. But in the process of starting to clean this mess Something caught my eye... Why hello clutch spring, how did you get there?? Might as well pull the clutch off for a nose then WTF Bet that slipped a bit, would have sounded marvelous Compared with a worn but serviceable stock clutch Variator was interesting too! Those 2 rollers are fused there! Going to chuck the first over range variator from the Green one and a decent stock clutch with 1500rpm springs at it and then attempt taking it on it's first ride in years. 5 Quote
kicker Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Jesus! They got their moneys worth on that clutch 1 Quote
Raizer Posted February 10, 2018 Author Posted February 10, 2018 Think the exhaust is pretty blocked up, maxed out at 45k test riding it and it took a while to get there. Pulled the bung out of the emissions pipe and top speed went up to 55 with a lot more pull. Not revving out as hard as I would like and I know the variator that's in there is good for 90+, so new belt, pre-emissions exhaust and a Dio carb should wake it up a lot. 4 Quote
