Like anything there is a learning curve, you have to pick the right size for your engine and then get a wideband and tune it. Most people with issues have just banged them on and change some jets that the internet said then wonder why its not running well. Toyota L series diesel have the (overhead) cam next to the lifters, the rocker arm has a roller on the cam end but I can't remember what happens at the valve end.
