michael0008
man i love this starlet those vision dry cell batterys how many cca are they? i was looking at one but couldn't find it anywhere
kpr
pretty sure they dont have a cca rating, as thats not there intended use. looks like a 18ah battery to me. use them alot at work. had a 40ah version of that in my car for awhile. started okish. but nothing on proper car gel cell
mjrstar
Agreed they wont carry a normal cca rating. I wouldnt consider it for a daily driver, but the bloke i got it off uses them in grumpy race cars without too many dramas. Time will tell if its up to the task. michael0008
i see glad i didn't get one then, all tho would of been great to fit the battery under the bonnet haha should of just got two and run dual batteries as there not a bad price to buy
mjrstar
the battery cost $85 including rural delivery so not complaining, plus it starts the car well. (Did a number of starts in quick succession as i was chasing an issue where it only wanted to run on 4 cylinders)
Truenotch
The wing will make a difference man. Add a 10 - 20mm "gurney flap" at the back if you want to make it work even better.
mjrstar
Sweet, good to know. I will need to devise a plan to attach in a strong enough manner so it doesn't part company at 240kph.. I was thinking either some M6 nut inserts or possibly welding some short bits of m6 threaded rod onto the hatch.. either way would get some decent load spreading material strips of steel/thick aluminium over the mounting holes to prevent cracking. Toucan
The wing looks the business! Really love the look
Snoozin
I do like those wings eh, gives the car a bit more of a purposeful look to it too.
mjrstar
cheers guys, fingers crossed it doesn't decide to part company, the wing on my evo is held on by 15 (yes Fifteen) bolts, whereas the one on the hatch of this thing is only held on by 7... Vintage Grumble
Shit looks lovely.
mjrstar
I think the traction issue is 2 fold, firstly there is not enough weight in the rear, and secondly it's running some semi slicks which are past their best before date.. It tends to hook up a little bit better at the track once it gets some heat into the tyres... although it's still not great.. on the looks front, it's ok from a distance, but my back-yarder panel / paint skills let it down a bit when you are closer than about 20ft away.. kpr
have you done anything with the diff links at all? dropping the lower links down at the diff end will give you alot more traction. if you haven't done it already. but dropping them down too far will make the ass end start to fell sloppy. "roll steer" i think they call it.
ProZac
That wing only works on your car because we know its got a 6 under the bonnet, on any other starlet it would look silly. On yours though, it just looks 'right'.
Yowzer
still struggling for rear end grip at 120-130kph Build one of these Only good.
Truenotch
I'm with KPR - what's your rear geometry like?
UTERUS
Sorry If I'm retarded and didn't look too hard, but is there any video of this delightful contraption? I miss the sound of a big turbo OneGary.
mjrstar
I brought the front up 15mm before the track day which has helped with the front end feel. The rear is all factory arms which as you guys mention above would be a good place to start looking to improve. The 33 year old rubbers have probably done thier dash. Sorry no video which is a shame as it does sound pretty decent.
