cletus
If i drop an austin allegro or morris marina onto a toyota hilux chassis and use all the toyota running gear. Will it be registered as a hilux or make of the new body shell ? Neither. will be a new vehicle, ie a 2011 lvvta poomax diddlecruiser or something like that. IMO - sleeve it too - its fuck all extra work for piece of mind. this.
zep
Neither. will be a new vehicle, ie a 2011 lvvta poomax diddlecruiser or something like that. Will they actually let you do that?
KKtrips
Its considered a scratch built vehicle.. My T-bucket was considered a 1998 even though it was a 1923 body..
Sparkle
i lol'd at poomax diddlecruiser. What about if I did similar to what chris? did, with the 521 body and 720 chassis? Same thing huh, even though pretty much bolts up? Grind off chassis, chassis number? Lolz.
KKtrips
I reckon that technically it would be a scratchbuilt still but you could get away with it easier than an Allegro on a Hilux chassis.
cletus
lvvta are working on this issue at the moment- problem is there are so many body/chassis combinations possible its hard to legally define what each vehicle is. a 521 body on a 720 chassis would be called a scratchbuilt you can name the model of a scratchbuilt vehicle when its first registered- doubt it could be "offensive" though, like personalised plates
Sparkle
So it could be a 2011 Sparkle LOADcarrier then, but probably not 2011 Sparkle Loadofjizzinyourmouth

rebel county
Will have to get a cert for my recline bucket seats? The old passengers seat was bolted to the base (I had to drills new holes on the base to fit the new passenger seat) and the old drivers seat has a rail on one side. Can I grind off that rail and bolt on the new drivers seat? The two seats are bolted to the orginial bolt holes just behind the seats. Cheers. Taistorm
Had a thorough check throught my new, old mirage today and noticed that there was a slight 'kink' in the chassis caused from a previous crash. Whats the story about chassis damage? What is tolerable when it comes to chassis bends? This is the LR side which has been unaffected compared to the RR side which has the 'kink' The bend only extends about 20-30mm in length and is just before the bumper mounts. Thanks in advance! Simon
That's rooted. Would not pass a wof if it was seen. Most wof places are useless though.
CXGPWR
^ How do you get wof's then? lolz
Testament
Of more interest is can you fix that yourself if you do a good job of it, or "must" it have some piece of paper from a registered to some unknown organisation or other panelbeater ? Yea how can i rectify it? havent taken it in for a wof(not planning on it until I get the engine in but I will net to get it certfied). Will I be able get a panel beater to straighten it out and/or conceal ? or will I need to take it in to a specialist with one of those chassis rail straightener thingys? If so what are the prics like (I assume an arm and a leg for that stz)?
peteretep
just get it repaired and no one will say anything, unless the car drives sideways
isnowi
Is there any rule stipulating what material a drive/tail shaft can be made of? I know that in order for it to pass muster it must be inspected and balanced (if required) by a driveshaft specialist, but my question is, can i use 304 stainless seamless tube for the actual driveshaft body? It is thicker wall section than the original and is seamless so must be stronger yeah?
Testament
its stainless so in all likelihood stronger than the (probabaly) low carbon steel original as well. I can't see it being a huge issue.
