  1. Hi guys, We're looking to take on an apprentice or train a committed fella in auto electrical in Palmerston North. The only requirement is that you've finished high school and have done some maths or science. It will be easy to start off with, basic wiring up trailers etc. You'll always have someone available to show you how to do it so don't fret. Obviously as you progress you'll be given more responsibility. I'll give anyone $200 cash if you recommend someone and we hire them.
  2. The accuair system averages the ride height over a couple of minutes and makes very small adjustments infrequently while driving. When parked the response time is much quicker to changes in load, like a couple of seconds. A fully active system like that BOSE LS400 is not really practical with air. I tried it in my car and because the system is always doing something I would need 10 compressors to keep up. I didn't drive it hard but it didn't do much for handling. All the new Audis etc with factory air suspension have some super sick shit in there. Fully adjustable shocks and full control of the ride height. If I do bags again I would try retrofit some Audi / BMW / Porsche airbag struts. They are way better than the normal old bellows type airbag. They have progressive spring rates and separate adjustable compression and rebound on the shocks.
  3. It can be done for less but it depends on the value of your time. I did it and if I was charging me out at my wage it would have cost $5000. And I still ripped it all out to make V2.0 because V1.0 was unsaleable. And V2.0 doesn't even exist yet. So basically it was a fuck around and I should have just worked and saved for a house.
  4. lol the 5 years ago me is an idiot. I should have been banned.
  5. Have our next monthly there? Then the guys in the late 90s utes and the guys in the early 90s skylines can talk amongst themselves at the original location. Will bring my mid 90s camry.
  6. I'll bring my cars in on the weekend then?
  7. Anyone have a single stage air con pump off a 4cyl small car? Need one for bags but the 1uz ones are double stage and probably aprox 2x times too large. Eg: Single Double
  8. No point cos we're all there IRL anyway - has way better resolution.
  9. There wasn't any drama last time so anyone is welcome if it stays like that. Hopefully young luvs drive by in the cruiser scared off any future trouble.
  10. Cut the mounting plates so they are the same size and shape as the plates in the airbag. Then space them off so the bag can wrap around slightly if it wants. If the bag touches the plate while aired out it's no problem, but it can not touch at any point while driving or eventually it will wear though. Make sure the plates are smooth and painted. Ideally the top and bottom plates of the bag will be parallel at ride height. Some bags have an internal bump stop but I believe most don't, therefore you want to run a bump stop so when aired out the weight of the vehicle isn't on the bags. Having the plates crash into each other is obviously not what you want. It's not the end of the world if you have to run the airbags offset at ride height. The bags will come with specs on how much is permissible under specific conditions etc. You may want to run them so they are slightly offset at ride height and slightly offset in the other direction at full slam if your suspension setup sees a lot of angle change from one extreme to the other.
  11. Also pretty easy to bypass that switch on the way home from a cert ha. I'm gonna use an input from the park dash light when it comes cert time.
  12. Sweet! Keep it the height it is in the above pic ^^
  13. Good thread. Don't buy NPT threads from USA. Found that out the hard way when doing my bag install. BSP4lyf.
  14. Harder springs and shocks that work would be a start. Would be easy to make the front double wishbone by adding an upper control arm. Not enough space in rear so some sort of long trailing arm stz. Or maybe there is enough, hard to see. Then get some long like 10-12 inch stroke shocks and springs and you're away.
  15. Also lol at macpherson strut front.
  16. Nice, jelly of wheels / tyres.
  17. I made "custom" coilovers for my coupe. Front is 10kg spring on shortened MX73 strut housing with AE92 shock. Rear is a custom made 7kg spring and b1600 ute shocks shortened. Waste of time, handles quite average. If you you should buy off the shelf coilovers. Have now bought some BC golds for the rear and trying to find some other BC strut to fit the front. It's all in the shock quality and pairing to the spring rate. If you make "custom" suspension with adjustable shocks, it might work. But for the money spent and time wasted you may as well just get a reputable brand of coilover and make fit.
  18. Yeah we're rearranging a motox track for end of year work function. We're gonna try scrappies too.
