karmagedon
do you know how much is to get a cert changed?
Spencer
^ Pretty sure its the cost of another cert. That's why so many people put off their certs until all the planned mods are done and hence never get them on the road
karmagedon
That's super balls. Heard it was around $40 and thought that was acceptable. However, apparently half cages do not need a cert due to the following This would not require certification on its own. Here are the requirements from the Warrant of Fitness Manual (the VIRM): Roll-bar or roll-cage structures (roll protection or cosmetic): LVV certification is not required provided that: each seating position is fitted with an effective head restraint, and the bars are positioned: – behind, following a plane extending upward, parallel to the back of the backrest on the rear‑most seat, and – in such a way that the head restraint would provide protection from head contact with any bar section during a crash. karmagedon
Fixed roof unitary constructed passenger cars can’t have a rollcage without an LVV Authority Card. This means that you can have a roll-cage in open or convertible vehicles, or vehicles with a roof structure not designed for rollover protection such as those with a fibreglass body. Also, off-road-type 4WD vehicles, and any vehicles with a separate body/chassis can all have a roll-cage. this is also of interesting note. Vintage Grumble
Pretty sure a re-cert is the same price as a normal cert. I have held off doing mine as I dont have the racetech drivers seat that the cars certed for, so will lose cert for that.

cletus
height change needs a re cert.... costs the same and is just as much paperwork etc as starting from scratch roll bars (1/2 cages) bolt in or weld in dont actually need certing if they meet the requirements in the wof bible. however most cars that need a roll bar have enough other mods to need a cert anyway. as mentioned above need authority card for roll cages in a unit construction passenger car. height is measured from the center of the hub to the guard straight above it
peteretep
do you need a rear license plate light? ie is it one of these things where if its fitted it must work, and if not fitted then not required?

th130
Question regarding seatbelts: Have replaced standard seats with recaros. The problem is standard seats had seatbelt buckles attached. What is the best way forward? Have used factory runners with adapter plate. Would like ends to stay with seat as opposed to floor mounted. Cheers
cletus
was the buckle mounted to the seat itself or to the original runner? what sort of car is it? usually the buckle is attached to the runner rather than the seat frame
th130
Thanks for the prompt reply and help.... Buckles were attached to the seat(spotwelded) as oppossed to runner. It is a fiat tipo My thoughts were fold up a bracket and weld correct size nut to it and either weld this or bolt this to runner. Current set-up is 6mm plate with thread hole and nut to top as adapter.(m8 car screws through runner into this) and m6 cap screws through adapter into seat. So have around 14mm gap i can make bracket fit into.

karmagedon
What is the law regarding a vehicle's third break light? If it's factory it has to keep it? Or only from certain years onward? if it a year cut-off, what is that year? Thanks
