cletus
Whats it got written on the plate/whats weird about it? there is some paperwork that comes with the plate, but its not really important, the plate covers it all. ie if its not on the plate then the cert doesnt cover it. bubblegoose
On the plate it is certed for a 2 Litre Nissan Inline 6 Non-Turbo (RB20DE?) but I cant see any evidence to say it has been anything other than a factory SR20. Also, why would you bother converting to a gutless non turbo motor and get it all certed etc? Doesnt make sence. error? i know of a a couple of cars certed for engine that arn't in them, and for adj' suspension when its just lowering springs
cletus
is probably a mistake.... if you go see your local certifier he could probably organise a re printed plate for you. nostalgia motors in hamilton

Josh
I have a question. Being lazy etc/whatever. Instead of hooking up speedo cable/getting custom one made etc, have heard can mount up a gps unit and use the speed thing off that? I don't see why not however what is the cert man likey to say? Beaver
pretty sure you need a working odometer? maybe not....
Corbie
nah don't 'need' odometer but you do need to have speedo.. also has to be permanently mounted.
Josh
Sweet, think I may mount up one then as will be way easier/cheaper.
cletus
yes have certed a couple of cars like that, there is no legal requirement for an odometer. Not sure what happens in the case of a diseasel though. gps must be permanently mounted and wired in. www.speedhut.com sells proper gps speedos

cletus
nah dont need to crack test them visual inspection is ok or demonstrate your welding skillz to the certifier if he requires looks good from here
bubblegoose
best to leave bare metal for cert then?
drivekp60
rumor has it in a couple of months you cant cert coilovers. is this true? anyone know anything about this?
bubblegoose
adjustable height is poos for road use anyway how often do you actually need to adjust it to drive your nana to woolworths im sure converting to a 65mm spring and using different spring length/spacers/shims with adj' dampers will still be legit if people feel they MUST have them then they will just need to get a 'go racing and collect your coilovers' card
cletus
Ban has been discussed but not decided yet as far as i know. For most people its a good way of lowering a car properly without having to spend $$ on custom stuff, (which is quite hard to find someone who knows what they are doing) Most people adjust it to the height they want and leave it there. Its the same old story, 2% of people have (potentially)fucked it for everybody else.

karmagedon
In regards to scooter bike frames. If it was originally made out of steel, can I make one out of aluminium tube? Does it need to be certed or anything of the sort. For a 50cc engine
