AALAWS
Toyota themselves didn't have anything on file, but my friend used used their name and accreditation to get some info for me so I have a good starting point with previous rego history
kyteler
@cletus my good fellow. I'm debating with myself on buying some adjustable suspension from Japanese tuner Star Road, whilst I am here. What's the likelihood of getting the rear coilover platforms as per the kit certed in the flapping rear trailing arm suspension of the 110? cletus
The rear will be reasonably easy, camber will probably be your biggest issue there. If they are the ones on the pic though, the front ones wouldn't be able to be certed due to the strut tube being welded to the cast/forged bit at the bottom.

I created a sweet weak point, when i done some rangi mods on my paddock car. it wasn't welded to the cast part. (is now..) The rules say no welding within 10mm of the cast part

Bling
Have read the flow chart on LVVTA, but before I start chopping, is a CAT required on a pre 90 car at cert? Chart appears to show anything pre 90 does not required a CAT. Cheers Asking as I recall this rule has changed in the past. Engine is stock FWIW. cletus
Nah if it's registered prior to 2010 it doesn't need a cat.
kws
On a similar topic, and I haven't searched because it's just come to me, if you built a scratch built car, And registered it now as new, does it need a cat fitted?
cletus
Yes, unless it meets the criteria in the standard for not having to have one. https://lvvta.org.nz/documents/standards/LVVTA_STD_Exhaust_Gas_Emissions.pdf

sheepers
This isn’t exactly about certing but I thought the celebrated Mr turnip might have some relevant info on this topic. So my MS75 needs re-complying because its de-reg. parts on it like the brake master cylinder are fucked and the only replacement master I can get for it is a bolt on affair for the car but looks completely different to the original one and it has a modern looking reservoir. Same goes for the proportioning valve. What the story with complying a car with these things on it? Its not modified, its just replacing fucked bits with the only parts you can get. Are they going to knock it back?
Popular Post cletus
Technically, yes it would need cert if it's not a catalogued replacement for that model vehicle. A scallywag would possibly do something devious like try and obtain a wof and probably succeed if it bolts on with no mods, and works correctly, as you would need to be a big toyota crown nerd to know what the oe one looks like, and I only know one of those nerds and he doesn't work at a compliance center. You will need a cert for the 186 swap anyway so I dunno why you are asking silly questions David. 6
