  1. Yeah it was very cool to meet up with some of you OS guys st the swap meet! From what I heard Friday was the day to be there, lots of veteran and vintage motorcycle stuff that was all sold by Saturday. The ride details were: Day 1 was Arundel to Mt Somers, 25km. Day 2 was Erewhon to Mt Somers, 25km, We had an awesome tail wind and we probably had to only pedal 3km of that distance! Day 3 was Mt Somers to Rakaia 50km and the last day was Leeston to little river via a cycle trail around lake Ellesmere 50km. It was such an awesome event i can highly recommend it for anyone who is into old bicycles. Here are a few pics from the ride The 2 trailers with all the bikes loaded up Here are 2 of the 3 really nice Dursley Pedersen replicas that were on the ride Canturbury plains Re tyring a rear wheel on the side of the road after the tension wire through the center broke At the start of the cycle trail at Motukarara Chris having a go at swapmeet A shot with one of the sweet traction engines at swapmeet Rakaia Tavern Stack line up There are a heap more photos on the Oamaru ordinary cycle club FB page if anyone is interested too Time to get onto some of the other projects......

  2. it has arrived, along with all mine and my mates crap on the back. having a good look over it, still happy with it. good solid truck to own. Turns out it didn't get flagged for any rust! even thou I can see the road under the clutch pedal. Looking forward to working on it over summer.

  3. Before I forget.. Red even has factory steel under and around the windscreen! Here is a lovely photo of the firewall welded to the plenum bottom. I needed to join the two skins together before welding yellows panel on top. Because the front lip was fucked on red, I decided to remove it and use yellows (with the seam intact). The final weld between firewall and yellows panel will happen UNDER the lip..nice and hidden.

  4. Does it try yank you back and punch the bike when it fires as you pull? that's what my mates lawnmower did to me when it had eaten it's woodruff key and moved around 5°.

  5. really went to town on the tank/old oil can. chop, fit, solder, smack repeatedly with things to 'adjust fit', leaks like a shower rose, of course. one more attempt at soldering leaks up then it goes in the bin. driveline coming together, had plenty stuffing round with the clutch which is on the other side. coming in just over 20kg as it sits.

  7. Wof'd and reg'd the steed today. May have to bring her out for her first meet for the summer. Just got to convince the missus that she can handle the dinner, bath, and bed process for two kids on her own.... Wish me luck!

  18. Thanks for all the awesome comments guys! The place that we are staying at tonight in Rakaia has internet access so i can catch up on a few things. The ride is going extremely well so far and i am very pleased with how the bike is going, no problems yet and i think we have done a bit over 100km now. We went out to Erewhon station yesterday and had a good tour around which was cool. Tomorrow is the big day with a bit over 80km to do so i am looking foward to that. I have managed to master a few tricks now like no hands riding, peddle dismounts, coasting down a hill with legs over the bars and I am getting the hang of balancing on the thing stationary. Oh yes the newspaper article, The lies!!! its amazing what these reporters seem to be able to pull out of thin air haha although he did get most of the things i told him right. DIRTY6 yes that pic is of one of the 6 other penny farthing riders on the tour, there are also about 16 vintage safety bicycle aswell. Anyway thats my internet just about up, I will put some pics up of the ride next week when i get home.

  20. Actually, now I think about it the XE was on Shortland Street once, used by skinheads to chase some geeze who they threatened and intimidated him out the window. Much like I was doing in daily driving anyway.

  21. First of all. So that I can use BA falcon disks I did this. Took disk/hubs. Made a mandrel Machined until the right size to fit into hat. I'll get some quality studs the right length and will sleeve the front spigot so that it centers the disk correctly. <3 sandblasters Two days ago I went to see a mate. We swapped a few Holden bits and I spent a while staring at his VERY nice ute shell (sitting in epoxy primer after being stripped to bare metal). It looked different to mine... I got home and a few photo comparisons proved a few unusual differences. The next night I spent a little more time working on the seat mounts and decided it was worth probing deeper into the few hairline cracks. I knew there were a large number of rust repairs present but I wasn't expecting this... pictures speak a thousand words. Photos don't do this crap justice.. Plan change to heavy focus on chassis/running gear and anything no attached to the terribly dishonest body

  22. if you have hydraulic shocks you can just take the gland nut off the top and drop in a few inches of steel pipe and put the lid back on to shorten them.
