  1. Well I have pottered away on this... But it’s time to say goodbye and continue with other projects. It deserves to be used regularly and it never leaves the garage. It also deserves some TLC. It will be sold with WOF and reg. If you are interested let me know, I will be starting a for sale post soon and then after that it will go in TM. I’ll leave a teaser pick below
  2. Hey guys, can someone give me some advise on where to buy consumables at a reasonable price to strip the old ute to bare steel? I guess im after some of the porous stripping discs a. Also the Thailand wellside will need smoothing out so for that i would need sanding pads? Can anyone give me some advise before I start this prep work
  3. Another project that has been sitting around. anyway small update, a proper coilover has been fitted to the car for the first time. AE86 LCA and steering knuckle
  4. Have been pretty flat out so havent gone very far with this at the moment. Did the rust in the passengers door, turned out pretty average. Any advice on what to do with this little crack in the join? obviously the steel is pretty thin around it. Discuss away here
  5. Does anyone in welly have a bead blaster or know someone with one. Looking at blasting my struts 0275393040
  6. These are an option. guards need filling, not sure if these will do it?
  7. Finally organised shipping at a reasonable price. Turned up today (over night delivery!!!) Was pretty stoked. Theres definitely a bit of damage from when we tried to bring it back on the trailer but oh well, shit happens. Also the shape isn't as nice as Sparkles, I was using that as a guide to go off of. The top of the tray doesn't flow in as nicely and the tailgate says Nissan which is a bummer. i am planning on getting another tailgate and either doing some sheetmetal magic and putting Datsun on there or shave it and get a decal made. Will see. My thoughts are its a cross between the 720 and 620. For now the plan is to remove the damage at the bottom, shape it/remove some small imperfections and then paint it. while the painting is going on i will do the drivers door properly and the driver front guard is ready for colour. Hopefully have the whole ute painted soonish. Also... quite obviously.. needs LOW. Look below and share opinions here Note tray is just sitting there
  8. Panel work look fantastic with the paint!! Awesome progress man
  9. Small Update, went to Napier for a small break and on the way back found this in s cool little antique store. While looking for a new couch i we saw this AA badge so grabbed it, i quite like them and think they compliment the age of older cars. Also found the couch from another antique store if you were wondering And a better angle of the fins and the helper. I never get tired of looking at these wheels.
  10. Will upload photos correctly when I get to a computer. Started polishing these up. Really want to run them but have a new study pattern. Might make up some adaptors.
  11. Awesome find mate, nothing like a bit of a project. I would look at getting the grill and bonnet trim stripped of all rust and painted before its to late, they are very hard to come by now. I got mine acid dipped and powder coated. Awesome thats your father is an ex mechanic that will help you out a lot. Are you going to look at giving her a buff and polish? looks like The paint will come up pretty good in most areas. Good luck with the restoration. Tap into the knowledge here at Oldschool
  12. A while ago after quite a bit of work the TE27 cluster gauge from Japan got blown off my bench during a storm after our new roller doors at work got blown in. This caused a bit of damage, I had also rest fitted it in the car the day before (this was why it was out) and found that the speedo didn't work. Everything else seemed fine. A couple of years later, today, I went to hunt out some clear blue plastic. This was used to replace the high beam indicator as the old plastic couldn't be found. Then I had to pull apart two other clusters To make one, unfortunately there is some permanent damage and one of the locking tabs has come off. I may chop one off of one of the others and plastic weld it onto this one Managed to fiddle with a couple of bits in the speedo drive and now its working, i had to wind the coil up a couple of turns allowing it to spring back to zero correctly so hopefully its all good.
  13. So in the not to distant future i will be sending this off to be sand blasted. I need to start deciding on a colour, either going to go red which the car was originally or mustard. needing some suggestions on nice colour codes for these options, please discuss here
