Well, at least it was damp/mucky after the last drive. Would be cool if I could somehow integrate a valve into the switch so when it's pushed down it releases the pressure. But I do like the idea of winding the Barries up even more too... 2 Quote

Car only weighs 750kgs with 70% being on the rear. Yeah eh! First time i drove this imp after restoring it onto the road I forgot that imps run different pressures front/rear and put 30 or 32 psi in all round, just as I did in the viva. Fuck it was horrid. Skittery and the front wheels were so harsh on bumps. Let the fronts down to 20psi and a bit out of the back and it was a world of difference. 5 Quote
Roman Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 You're going to get about 10 years worth of mileage winding up the barrys, just with that revised logo 3 2 Quote

Nominal Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Excellent idea on the sistema container. I might steal that if I can find a working fuel pump. I have had a scenario a bit like that commenter though, involving some spilled petrol on the floor and a spark from using jump leads on a starter. Quote

Also, never weld directly above an oily rag while wearing shorts, your leg hairs will never forgive you. Oh god, it's happening to us. 6 Quote

Roman Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Last night I was burning a bunch of shit in the front yard, and it was just sort of smoldering. So I thought I'd chuck a bean can full of petrol on it. Expecting some dramatic flames and the fire roaring again. It sizzeled and started boiling the petrol and didnt ignite. Put out some of the red embers and just kept sizzling and boiling off. Had to come back with matches to get it going. Petrol is weird! 1 2 Quote

I tried something similar a few years back….. blew a window out of the greenhouse and got some frizzy hair and eyebrows for my trouble. Should know better. As a kid we tried the old “bit of petrol in a screw top (cocoa) tin and put it in the bonfire” trick. That was frikken’ huge bang and blew the bonfire out and into small pieces. Brought Mum out of the house to see what we were up to…… “what was that noise …..thought you had a bonfire?” Errrm…. Kids running feral on the farm in Swaziland. We did all kinds of mad shit….. there were occasional injuries, but nothing permanent and no one died, looking back I sometimes wonder how 3 Quote
