yoeddynz Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 Thanks Ben! I'll certainly come visit you once I'm confident with its longer range hooning abilities. I've looked at the M/C and it had a big drip of fluid hanging off the rubber boot. Paint has all lifted below it. I suspect it is very tired and has been for a while... Quote

tortron Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 M8 it's 2 A series, put together and a cylinder chopped off. Just listen to the valve clatter, I'd know that anywhere 1 3 Quote

VitesseEFI Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 8mm sounds small for breathers to me. Doesn’t take much crankcase pressure to cause leaks. Quote

tortron Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I liked the guy saying you cant drive in the rain because it will overheat 4 Quote
igor Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 That doesn't even make sense. What reality do these people live in? 1 Quote

Driving an untested semi tuned car in the rain is pretty ballsy to me :p keen to see how much more you progress and interest to see dyno results if you ever get round to it Thinking this and @RomanCarina need a photo shoot/ maybe a cheeky drag race What does the Imp weigh now it's all done? 2 Quote
Transom Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 The Davies Craig controller ? Any reason you are using that rather than direct control from the ecu ? is there not an option for zero flow until a minimum temp is reached ? have been looking at buying one of these controllers Quote

My only hope is to just keep lining up and at some point his camshaft actuators will fire through his bonnet, kill his engine and allow me to cross the line first. Not sure on weight. It was 750 kg wet when it had the lighter mx5 seats. Now with heavier recaros and extra fat out back it must be closer to 800. I will weigh it soon. 1 1 3 Quote

Extra wiring, extra pissing about. Plus this controller will stay running once ignition is turned off so stopping hot spots. Ecu turns off. All just extra hassle when really the controller is designed and touted as the be all and end all of coolant management... "The LCD EWP®/Fan Digital Controller will manage the operation of your chosen EWP® or billeted electric water pump by varying the pump’s speed and subsequent coolant flow in response to engine coolant temperature, as well as manage the thermal control of your electric Thermatic® engine Fan/s. The EWP®/Fan Digital Controller becomes the engine’s new ‘thermostat’ and now has individual targeted temperature settings from 60°C (140°F) to 110°C (212°F). Programmed by simply pushing a button and holding down to set!" 1 Quote

Roman Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Regarding EWP situation, the idea with a thermostat is that you have a bypass line so all of the water circulates in a smaller circuit, rather than the thermostat restricting flow. That's how the factory setups do it. If I ever need to put an EWP on my new motor I'll buy one of the external BMW thermostats that pairs with the CWA200 pumps and probably just run the pump full blast all of the time. Hopefully find some good tips to get the EWP controller working good, I'd imagine it could be quite sensitive to placement of the temp sensor. 2 Quote
Popular Post yoeddynz Posted June 29, 2024 Author Popular Post Posted June 29, 2024 It seems better now with the target temp set higher but a more testing will show up if it's going to be consistent. I'm picturing long descents off takaka hill on cost days will be where it struggles to stay above 75. I'll find out. Then I'll type a polite and tactful email to Davies Craig.. 4 8 Quote

HumberSS Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 But fussy but could you just put a fitting in top of your oil cap and run a hose up high to a small catch can or tie back to a rocker cover breather? Quote
