Flauski Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 How the hell did I miss this being fully painted!? You work quick and it looks great! Are those lenses Mexicali repro spec or legit USDM? I have been considering some Mexicali ones myself. 1 Quote
Mr.Mk1 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I believe them to be decent old legit, they are aged up close and have factory looking foam remnants still stuck in places Quote
d.p.n.s Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 dude it looks fucking awesome ay. you should be proud of yourself Quote
Mr.Mk1 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Your mint spares helped bring it up a notch! Quote
RUNAMUCK Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 I'm very glad that motor was mint inside. I paid what I felt to be top dollar for a long block. Fwiw, it had around 180k on it. Special thanks should be extended to @Valiant for those carbs. 1 Quote
CUL8R Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 What manifold do you end up using? Gives it a nice factory (ish) appeal definitely! Quote
Valiant Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Wow. I forgot all about those. I hope you can make something that works with them. Quote
Mr.Mk1 Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Will cut and shut a factory manifold hopefully. Or an abortion of the two. Havent got that far yet! Quote
RUNAMUCK Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 I've got a shitty emissions diseased/uphill van manifold for this very purpose. I found a sandwich plate for that motor yesterday too. 1 Quote
RUNAMUCK Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 The sandwich plate is quite rusty, and encrusted with dried on liquifaction. I started scraping it off today, but ran out of fucks. 1 Quote
piazzanoob Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 I guess now you got to blast all the rest of the shit on the motor otherwise its just going to look like dogs balls Quote
Mr.Mk1 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 That wasn't the plan! But yeah, your right. likely I'll pinch the branch car from work for a week so I can paint the engine bay and dial in the extractors while it's all apart and not have to rush it to drive to work on Monday like my usual missions with mine and wife's cars. 1 Quote
KKtrips Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Fucking hell Joshy, what a fucking weapon From this... to this in 2 months... Loooooooooooooooooooong whistle and let's be honest - the first picture is doing it justice... 3 Quote
RUNAMUCK Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I can't lose when Josh posts in the project forum. It's either a lush update on my rusty 47 year old car, or a heartwarming update on my old weary old 45 year car. Regardless of which it is, I smile. How happy are you with the gearbox in this car Josh? It just occurred to me while the motor/gearbox is out its literally only a 25 minute job to change that front bearing. I can bring my big puller over and whip it off in a heartbeat. Quote
Mr.Mk1 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Thanks KK, I've just about drunk away the memories of the bodywork , lol. The box seems fine/stereo/I've got used to it now. But while donk is out I'd do the bearing.. 6 Quote
