  1. I had a one of those sentra gt cup cars as a road car when i was young fella, they had no 180kph speed limiter and I got the thing to do 195 down one of those long big hills on way back from akaroa. It was whiteknuckle stuff, sounded like the world was coming to an end. Only every did it the once. I expect this to be every bit as terrifying at pace too haha
  2. Haha. Yes they definitely are a pain to work on anything in the engine bay. A sensible man would have brought an Evo
  3. Haha mint yeah I’m imagining it’ll feel all sorts of 90s car sketchy at speed. Especially cause they were never known to be great handlers haha. I love that everyone’s memories of them was they were fast as fuck.
  4. Fuck yeah how cool. Was there any pictures kicking around
  5. Yeah guess they are now. Probably means that I am too haha
  6. Rad. Good to see a few others had them and I’m not the only one with problems haha Really looking forward to getting this one on the road. Last WOF was 2009. It turned into one of those projects where you spent twice as much and three times as long in it as you intended. Will be a cool little weekend car
  7. Nice. Yeah there was a patch there where you couldn’t give them away. probably a terrible idea for a project car haha. Wasn’t till I got into this I realised how hard it is to find parts for them that aren’t fucked
  8. Couple of pics of black car at different stages
  9. Nah wouldn’t have been ours. I’m not in ferrymead. Although one of the guys a few driveways over managed to burn down a couple of brand new units a while back
  10. Thanks. Yeah was definitely worth the extra effort. 90s cars have all taken a hiding under there. So tidied up the rails and sills and under sealed it all. While ot was ant the paint shop And got all the bolts rezinc while it was all apart. Haven’t had motor and box out of this one so that sort of lets the whole lot down at the moment. but I’ll tidy the engine bay the best I can and maybe have a crack at the remainder of it one day
  11. End goal pretty much this
  12. I’ve summarised a hell of a lot. It was way more of a shit fight than I originally anticipated. Some of it self inflicted. Just one of those cars that while you were fixing one part you’d look across at the part beside it and realise that was fucked too and have rebuild that haha Have also realised I have F all pictures of it or working on it. There’s about an A4 page of mechanical work left to get a warrant. Once that’s sorted ill just use it for a bit before doing coil overs and 300zx 4 pot brake conversion spot light grill and as well as a few other things. but getting pretty fizzed about getting this in the road. Missed this summer which was the original goal. So will aim to get it legal over winter
  13. So collected the black car. Much better base. Driven to Dry storage 8 years earlier. Fuel pump seized from sitting. Has all the factory bits. Pretty unmolested as far as these things go. I assumed it was fairly straight forward from here. I replaced the fuel pump and fired the old girl up. It promptly pissed fuel from every rubber hose it had. Fuck on the hoist fuel tank out replace all the fuel lines. Get it up and running and blast it round the block. Boost leaks everywhere. while idling the thing in the driveway investigating the boost leaks it spontaneously dropped all its coolant from one of the water lines in the depths of hell under the intake manifold fuck sake repaired this and promptly sent it to the paint shop to sit in the naughty corner for 6 months back track a bit and sometime around 2021 I enquired with Modena in Oz about diffs for these things as they were the only company who didn’t list them as NLAbut really for no other reason than I was interested to see what they costed - quite a lot was the answer. He said he was thinking of making a batch soon and he would email when he was doing them. fast forward 18 months later and I get an email. He has a front and a rear sitting there with my name on it. So I fomo panic brought them. Did I have the money for them. No. Did my road car need LSDs. Also no this started the next unnecessary phase of the build. Full underside rebuild rebuilt subframes diff and transfer box. Brakes. Basically everything mechanically except the engine and gearbox
  14. After a couple of failed race car projects over the last decade decided it was time for a more simple road car project. Being of that age where you start to reminisce your youth I decided a 90s turbo car would be the ticket. And had always wanted a gtir as a young fella I just so happened to know of an abandoned Gtir project in a paddock and after a quick phone call a deal was done It had been sitting in the paddock approx 7 years. It ran but had a blown gearbox (of course) some rust and dents and every rubber part was perished and dash cracked etc. I immediately brought up on parts blew it to bits fixed the dents and rust and was ready to send it off to the paint shop, then……. I bought another one its about that point things escalated
  15. I got a new beam through by just doing calcs and showing that the new was was stronger. Was simple though as the original was an aluminium rhs and the new one a piece of chromoly bar. That said it took months for me to come back and say yes and it’s just easier to put a smaller intercooler
  16. May have missed this somewhere but are you building on the chathams?
  17. throughly approve. vvti would be epic
  18. Oh yeah cool that’s be sweet. Was just curious. Not sure when I’ll eventually dig my starlet out to start rally car build but have some ae86 struts there is like to use
  19. do you have any pics of what you did in the front to mount the castor arms
