Popular Post JR
I had a productive day today, I was on call with work but didn't get called in so I was effectively paid to work on this thing I should have been in a rocking chair smoking a pipe while whitteling away at this. Only one more plank to put on then just sand the hell out of it. I wanted some better looking tyres and came across these bad boys on trade me, the price was right.... Free!!! I don't know that they will fit for sure as they are quite a bit wider but if they do I think they will look awesome! I started on the exhaust today, I am making 3 other dummy pipes along with the real one that run into a 4 to 1 collector then a wee muffler. I hope I can get it looking good, it sucks being such newb welder, my first weld was this projects first weld.... I started on the steering too, its a bit of a random set up as I want the body to be removable with out too much hasstle. Another picture of the tail just because im loving it at the moment. Cheers again Skinner for the wood!!!
kyteler
Might I suggest that for that last little triangle section in the rear, you get a little brass plaque made up with your initials or a logo or something on it, polish that up and sit it in there with the rest of the wood finished and varnished or waxed, it would look both fitting and amazing and be a great testament to the amount work you've put in.

That is a great idea! I'll have to have a think about what to put on it.
SiRge
I saw this Aero screen on the basis site and though it could look quite cool in this, what were you doing for a windscreen (If anything) http://www.basisnz.co.nz/Products/Accessories/AEROSCREEN-(190-100).aspx
JR
Cheers! The link didn't work for me but I think I found it on their site, that is perfect! It's just a bit pricey for me! I was thinking of making one out of Perspex. I think I'll copy this one as closely as possible, I love it. The frame will be the tricky part. Popular Post JR
if you wanna do a brass plaque my old man has a engraver if you wanna give it a bash Mate, 8 year old down syndrome kids take the piss out of my hand writing.... I better not I have been thinking about the plaque and I still love the idea but I also want to put a monza style fuel cap on the back. The fuel tank will be in the tail. Will it be too much having a plaque and the fuel cap? If I have both I would make them both the same colour. What do you guys think? The only thing worse than my hand writing is my welding.... So I found this next part very difficult. Luckily I managed to hide most of the welds. The 4 to 1 collector is just mocked up, not welded yet. I might get a mate to do it as my nick name should be Dr spatter. I don't think my shitty little gasless mig helps the cause.
BlownCorona
i sure hope my missus didn't give away my cycle car tyres that are stored at home..... they do look perfect though! i picked mine up for 10 bucks a pop brand new.
CUL8R
Love the pics of them both, looking really sharp indeed lads! Tyres look far far nicer in a decent road pattern! 4 into 1 is nice. What about running a 4 into 2 - run the whole length?
Popular Post JR
The best and most important part of any build.... Pretending to drive it. Just some old gauges I had lying around. The water temp gauge probably won't be that useful.

Popular Post JR
Iv stated wiring up the engine, so hopefully will have it running soon. I have a question though... The engine is out of a CBF125 (fuel injected), on the bike the fuel tank was directly above the engine. On the go kart the fuel tank is in the tail about the same level as the engine. Does anyone know if the pump of the bike will handle pumping the fuel through 1.5m of pipe that will be a tiny bit up hill? Cheers I put the new road tires on the other week...
Truenotch
If it has a small electric pump it should be fine in theory. Give it a go and if it doesn't work there seem to be a few options for small electric pumps around.
Rookie
It will be sweet. Good work man, it looks rad with the new tyres.
BlownCorona
looks great with those tires on now! did you get the loom with the bike engine? thought it shouldn't be too tricky to wire up the bare essentials for the engine to run. does it have an ECU?
