Truenotch
Bare dash pad is 3kg... So you can imagine the carpet, underlining, sound deadening and seats would add up to 30kg pretty quickly.
flyingbrick
disagree sorry. no idea on 86 rear seat weight but all the plastic trim and carpet weighs next to nothing, certainly not 30kg!!! dash pad weighs 3kg because its got a steel backing, yes? removal of sound proofing obviously saves weight but he doesn't seem to be talking about this. Pull interior out, remove sound proofing, replace interior... boom. Feel free to weigh your plastic bits plus carpet then prove me wrong. LingLing
the plastic interior don't weight much, but I think the stereo + wood board and frame will weight lot more than the rear seats. anyway, weight isn't really a issue with the car at the moment, the wood frame and boards actually make the car look good when it covered with the new carpet. so not a disscusion point at this stage. Truenotch
dash pad weighs 3kg because its got a steel backing, yes? Nah bol, 3kg without the steel or glove box and most of the plastic mountings cut out - i.e this spec: But anyway, I really need to come to Auckland and have a look over this thing. LingLing
yes, it is. I am just so confused, well it can't fit rear seats in I got them tho, but so what's wrong with that sound set up?

felixx
remove the yr 10 woodwork project and the seat will fit. Get a robinson screwdriver to remove it. Andy you are a nice guy, but you never fail to amaze me,
xsspeed
The wood screw question now makes sense. If you have the rear seats, it shouldn't be too hard to track down some seatbelts and you may be able to have it 'recomplied' as a four seater, if you can go from 4 to 2 seats you should be able to go the other way. Just make sure the seatbelt mouonting points are all there. (Assuming you want to do this). The carpeted sounds box was tidy, but IMO would look better with the rear seats etc in. Vintage Grumble
Yeh, ditch the shit in the back, re-seat and apply bitches. Cos you love the bitches. Regards, VG.
xsspeed
You will likely need to put the stock or reclineable/foldable front seats in though, as the fixed backs will be the reasons its been changed to 2 seater
Beaver
wat. that "sound setup" amazes me. for all the wrong reasons.
xsspeed
To be fair it did look reasonably tidy with the carpet on (must have had wooden panels on it), but seeing what the carpet was hiding is a worry
rotorhoe
Do the rust removal yourself, I did mine. Be a man! But remember what I said, when working with the chemicals use a fan to not get a headache.
