Gaz Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Have just been on phone with cert guy and turns out you cant run your fuel line through your cabin unless: - It is covered incase something falls on it and it punctures - It is viewable to the cert/wof guy for inspection. - It is a motorsport car in whichcase go hard. Also for reference, no firewall is needed between cabin and boot Can run a halfcage and side intrusion without motorsport affiliation. It needs to be homologated to run in most motorsports events however. Put here as I have seen it asked numours times and the wrong answer given,, by myself as well! Gaz Quote
rot808 Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 will i have much trouble getting cert with solid mount subframe and diff etc in me rx7 was not too worried about it but now some cunt was all oooh ahhh i dunno so yeah Quote
rot808 Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 If engine is solid mounted, have to do gearbox as well.Callum please elaborate, legally or just for general strength. also its just rear subframe and diff mounts for now, will that be sweet? Quote
Ke36 Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Heres a link to the rules for exhausts for wofs. http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/certifiers/virm ... 1-v3a3.pdf And heres a link for how the noise test should be carried out -- http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/certifiers/virm ... s-v3a3.pdf Quote
FIAT Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Can run a halfcage and side intrusion without motorsport affiliation. Gaz Can only use that cage on the road though, good idea to get it homologated as well. Don't think you need to get yearly authority card at all for half cage as cert covers it for WoF, but you cannot compete in Motorsport NZ events without homologation. Not even events that don't require a cage such as motorkhanas. Callum I thought a half cage was treaded as a "roll bar" by MNZ, not a cage. Hence it can run in any event where a cage in not required. I see MX5's etc racing clubsport events with roll bars. Quote
OSM Garage Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Hey Let me start by saying this - EXTERNAL WASTEGATES! No one really wants to comment on whether these need to be plumbed back into the exhaust or released straight into the atmosphere. Some have pointed out that at the time of wof inspection, it is not an exhaust leak. Has anyone had problems cert'n there cars with external wastegates venting straight into the atmosphere? Quote
cute wee gem Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 You may get away with making a flange so you can run external at "track days" but I'm 99% sure they're un-certable running a straight screamer. Quote
eke_zetec_RWD Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 cert rules say externals must be plumb back. Quote
FIAT Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 cert rules say externals must be plumb back. So do WOF rules Quote
peteretep Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 rx7 got a cert without being plumbed back Quote

durty Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 hmmmmm, failed my wof on excessive handbrake travel i cant find any way to adjust, downloaded the volvo service manual, it says there should be 5 to 7 ratchets before it engages, mine goes on the 6th, reckon that should be sweet for wof man??
