CamB
Thanks Clint. I should have said it's an authority card car (it's pretty decent how much LVV stuff is ok if you have a proper race car). I have adjustable top mounts and can dial out any extra camber anyway, and not running crazy offset (same as some standard 2002s). Given the certifier situation I might just read the manual end to end once I get it. Will do me good.
cletus
yes. the plan was to get our own inspection premises sorted but that got put on the back burner when mark got suspended, as that halved our income, plus having to cover some of his work (main customer needs me in there pretty much every day, sometimes its 30 minutes, sometimes its 4 hours, and i dont know how long i have to be there till i get there) has screwed my booking system for 6 months, plus i am busy because of the shortage of certifiers. the main reason for needing 1D is over the years, more and more things have been re classified as having to be done by a 1d certifier. ie a ute with drop spindles didnt need 1D up till a couple of years ago

escort74
Real Shame to read that last part of the discussion about Mark been suspended , Neil Resigning and you been overloaded with work !I am nearing the end of my race car build that I intend on making road legal. From the info available I believe my car falls into the 1C possibly 1D category. Its a Mk1 Escort , Chassis mounted 2L pinto , Toyota w50 gearbox , Hilux Diff , Turreted Rear , four link bars , watts linkage , adjustable coilovers. I have recently installed a full roll cage and received my homologation and Logbook. Could you please advise me on my next step for starting the Cert process and the process for gaining my authority card. Any help is much appreciated . Cheers Elliott

beachlander
What's the go with re drilling 5 stud to 5 stud? Do I have to get the old holes welded up? 5X114.3 to 5x120 if you were wondering
haurangi
^can you slot them out and then have a sleeve pressed in?
beachlander
The wheels? Nope. Its either redrill hubs or adaptors, which equals a lot more guard work which i would like to avoid

Right'o, I'll get right on it, Rustisize and R100 will be up to speed shortly. Does the stripper pole have to be feng shui'd to the bar and pool table or are you happy with it just anywhere? OS SUPER Cert Centre Ltd 2015, we'll have a couple of car trailers to help those who cannot help themselves get their rigs to ours.

flyingbrick
Slotting the holes is a terrible idea and is 100% why we have cert checks lol

haurangi
Wheel pitch circle diameter modifications 2.3(2) A wheel fitted to a low volume vehicle may be modified to provide achange in pitch circle diameter by re-drilling, elongating, or slotting of the wheel center, provided that: (a) the modification incorporates either: (i) centering sleeves and washers to locate and secure the wheel; or (ii) in the case of an aluminium wheel, the drilling and pressing in of a steel insert to accept a tapered wheel nut or bolt; and ( the modification is carried out by a person who meets the requirements specified in 2.3(1). That's from 2003 though so probably wrong.

dylann
Is this okay on a wheel in order to fit slim spacer nuts under? Have been relayed information from a friend recently going through cert that this is totally acceptable, and Znoelli offered the service also so it can't be dangerous surely? It's been done properly and all that, and is only cut down by 3-5mm at absolute max, but just wondering if it could cause any problems going through cert. Again, the certifier I'd probably be using has said that he doesn't mind this at all.
kyteler
My biggest concern with that picture is that you're missing the tapered inserts for the holes so chances are that your lug nuts will not seat properly.
dylann
Suppose I should mention that it isn't the actual wheel I'll be using on the car, just for test fitting to make sure it all works and is legal before I go cutting up my actual wheels.
