Testament
depends how much meat is in it really. could be no issue or it could be dubious you able to get any pics/sketch with dimensions bart? from what I can see in the pic I'm thinking you would probably be ok as it looks like a fair few mm outside of the castle nut. RUNAMUCK
Yeah, it shouldn't pull through. (That was my main concern) I'm hoping to get a sample to where I can lay my hands on it.
be4ver
I'm sure this has been covered somewhere here before but I can't find anything about it anywhere. Anyway I have just acquired a datsun sunny wagon, it had a 1200 (A12) in it and I have a 1500(A15) sitting around. If I put the A15 in it would it need cert? Please and thank you

be4ver
Needs revin though. Probably get away with it for a wof easy enough but revin = cunty
Ranter
It'll be fine, certing that stuff is just taking it all abit far. How many Minis have the correct size engine in them?

Rookie
4.3 Engine conversions that do not require certification A vehicle is not required to be certified to the Low Volume Vehicle Code, provided that the safe performance of the vehicle is not compromised, where the only modification to the vehicle is the fitting of an engine other than that fitted by the vehicle manufacturer, and that the engine: (a) is of the same or less capacity or power output; and (b ) is of the same configuration; and (c ) the fuel type is not changed from petrol to diesel or vice-versa; and (d) has the same type of fuel induction system; and (e) has the same weight, location, and centre of gravity; and (f) is of the same design and casting family of cylinder block and cylinder head(s). CaMpylobacter
20% increase in cubic capacity, bra
Beaver
ah I thought there was a 20% int here somewhere but looks like its equal or lesser than etc. Learn somethign everyday!
CaMpylobacter
^rookie dave's stz says you can only go smaller, not bigger, anyways. so, yuhyuhuyuhuyhuhyhgh
Rookie
I think they have changed it, because you certainly used to be able to do bolt in engine conversions...
Rookie
And lets be honest, with only a small amount of oversight you could make those rules fit the a12->a15 conversion hahahaha
grant76
wagons did come out with a15's and 5 speeds from factory if that helps at all
Brock-Lee
^that doesnt change anything. If a car was first registered with an a12 and you want to put an a14/a15 in it it will need a cert. You might get away with it for wofs/whatever but that doesnt make it legal.
Rookie
I guess if you had a gx a12, then a stock a15 wouldn't make more power so the "or power output" part of a) comes into play.... Brock-Lee
haha I dont think it works like that tbh If it fails one criteria it fails them all.
Rookie
I dunno, to me the "OR" signifies one or the other, not both, so as long as you meet one of the criteria in a) the rest are covered so no problems...
e30-323ti
Is poorly abbreviated, but means:Same Power or Less PowerSame Capacity or Less Capacity More is More = Cert So you can't downsize your stock A15 to a worked A12, as that would be Less Capacity but More POWAR (you would hope)
