A couple of neurons just collided and I remembered something.

It wasn't bad at all as delivered post conversion - but I had a feeling it could be better. They'd used the OE petrol engine exhaust as it was there and in good nick. I felt it was restrictive so made up a bigger bore pipe. Side exit and one straight through muffler. Noticeably more top end once that was on. Revved right out freely.

Strange enough thats what this had sitting in the back .

2.5" pipe 1 straight through muffler and side exit exhaust.

(Most of it is on my cortina now 😆)

I seem to recall a joke about "Norman the Ambulance " from my childhood.  I wonder if this is where the name came from?

Thats exactly where it came from apparently..

"Some call Norman an ambulance "

Everyone starts yelling "norman is an ambulance "

Carjam says 1975cc and not subject to RUCs.  Would struggle to get out of it's own way if it's still rocking the original 2-litre slant 4.

A turbo Barra?

Trust me, I love an LD turbo but a turbo barra will be much better bang for buck. Find a crashed BA Falcon at Manheim and rip all the loom/ecu out of it. The factory ecu is tuneable. The BTR auto is at its limits with 400whp but that's a cake walk for a barra with some basic mods.

Already certified for an ld28 so that's the 1st option man

A good size intercooler and an egt gauge to keep an eye on Temps is a must

It's getting both.

And its not a big turbo.. I'm just going to use the td05hr 16g evo turbo off my cortina and a good intercooler.  EGT gauge and also changing the rear diff ratio...once I sort out what I have

What sorta revs you gonna aim for at 100k? 2500ish?

Not sure mate it will be better than the factory ambulance diff ratio  that's in it now.

So what ever the final drive of the 3 speed auto (with OD) is + the 14" wheels and once I find out the ratio of the cresta diff I have is.

Ideally....I want to be able to do the speed limit on the open road and actually be able to go up a hill 😆

Karls turbo cedric hummed along at 100k easy as.  4.1 diff and it had 185r14c on it at the time in 5th works out about 2500rpm.

I think these days it actually has a rb25det turbo on it .
