shizzl
I have had many gauges to read various things over the years, mainly oil pres and water temp. I find most are fairly inaccurate or just super china quality. What gauges do you run, and do you rate its quality? Where did you source them? Im looking for something that doesnt look wanky with different light colours etc. Prefer a black/silver face and reliable.. 2" is fine.. not digital. zep
Last time I bought gauges was from eBay. Autometer Sport-Comp. They are nice looking but not super cheap - just checked and they are about $200 NZD each on eBay.

Bearded Baldy
I run vdo gauges in the cruiser. Simple, elegant, timeless. Blah blah This style. https://trundlesautomotive.co.nz/products/vdo-boost-gauge-kit
locost_bryan
Smiths or VDO, but both are spendy. Check out boat chandlers too.
Taistorm
Speedhut are pretty good and affordable. Customisable to however you like as well made in the US.
RUNAMUCK
I've used VDO in the past. Anything modified needs a proper temperature guage. I got the shits with trying to guess how hot my engine was based on a (40 year old, built to a price) factory gauge with no numbers on it.
shizzl
Great feedback fellas... Any feedback on the saas stuff?
piazzanoob
if looking for gauges on the lower budget side i would use. trisco mechanical water temp. super accurate and easy to fit. have fitted these to quite alot of vehicles even just for testing trisco electric or mechanical oil pressure gauge. if using mechanical gauge i wouldn't use the factory plastic line or a copper tube. have heard of the lines splitting and spraying oil in the engine bay and cabin which hot oil can catch fire. get some fittings and AN hose to suit. https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/trisco-trisco-water-temperature-gauge-mechanical-52mm/293680.html?cgid=SCN01081906#start=3 https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/trisco-trisco-oil-pressure-gauge-mechanical-52mm/293682.html?cgid=SCN01081906#start=5 https://www.repco.co.nz/en/globes-batteries-electrical/electrical-accessories/gauges/trisco-electric-oil-pressure-gauge-go520/p/A1027541 https://www.repco.co.nz/en/globes-batteries-electrical/electrical-accessories/gauges/trisco-electric-water-temperature-gauge-gt520/p/A1027994
tortron
That's why this is a thing Not allowed oil lines in the cabin
shizzl
So cant run mechanical oil gauge? My ute used to have cowl mounted gauges..the ultimate throwback would be autometer gauges in chrome cups
tortron
In Australia, is why you see a lot of cowl mounts in the magazines. Here is fine, I have only had one let go lol 1
GuyWithAviators
SAAS are China. Probably work fine but they’re not great, and look tacky. 31 minutes ago, tortron said: In Australia, is why you see a lot of cowl mounts in the magazines. Copper line cracked at the fitting
cletus
There's nothing in the rules here about having mechanical gauges in the cabin, fuel pressure would not be allowed though
shizzl
Tbh ive never considered a ruptured oil line. Ive always run with elec gauges .. Had mechanical in the stockcar, but it came with a braided an line..was the allstar brand. Might go kill the wallet for some og autometer sportcomps
sr2
For older cars there's a user on Trademe named shieldz who sells refurbished Smiths gauges, I've heard good reports about him. He's got some really cool retro stuff. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/search?member_listing=935977&bof=FcsYJDZ9
Rhyscar
I've used Autometer pro-comp ultralite in the racecar. Pretty nice gauges not too pricey if you buy from summit racing or the like. Def go electric, the thought of having fuel/hot oil inside the car if something goes wrong (or in a crash) freaks me out.
