I have had many gauges to read various things over the years, mainly oil pres and water temp.

I find most are fairly inaccurate or just super china quality.

What gauges do you run, and do you rate its quality?

Where did you source them?

Im looking for something that doesnt look wanky with different light colours etc.

Prefer a black/silver face and reliable.. 2" is fine.. not digital.

Last time I bought gauges was from eBay. Autometer Sport-Comp. They are nice looking but not super cheap - just checked and they are about $200 NZD each on eBay.

I've used VDO in the past. Anything modified needs a proper temperature guage. I got the shits with trying to guess how hot my engine was based on a (40 year old, built to a price) factory gauge with no numbers on it.

if looking for gauges on the lower budget side i would use.

trisco mechanical water temp. super accurate and easy to fit. have fitted these to quite alot of vehicles even just for testing

trisco electric or mechanical oil pressure gauge. if using mechanical gauge i wouldn't use the factory plastic line or a copper tube. have heard of the lines splitting and spraying oil in the engine bay and cabin which hot oil can catch fire. get some fittings and AN hose to suit.

So cant run mechanical oil gauge?

My ute used to have cowl mounted gauges..the ultimate throwback would be autometer gauges in chrome cups

SAAS are China. Probably work fine but they’re not great, and look tacky.

In Australia, is why you see a lot of cowl mounts in the magazines.

Here is fine, I have only had one let go lol

Hot oil dripping into your boot is fun with under dash mounted ones. Copper line cracked at the fitting

Tbh ive never considered a ruptured oil line.

Ive always run with elec gauges ..

Had mechanical in the stockcar, but it came with a braided an line..was the allstar brand.

Might go kill the wallet for some og autometer sportcomps

I've used Autometer pro-comp ultralite in the racecar. Pretty nice gauges not too pricey if you buy from summit racing or the like. Def go electric, the thought of having fuel/hot oil inside the car if something goes wrong (or in a crash) freaks me out.
