RUNAMUCK
The old man did his Val axles. Welded up all the stud holes, and made a vee'd edge plug for the access holes which he fizzed in. Machined it all smooth in the lathe and redrilled in the new 114.3×5. Legit? Ask Clint. Once it's done, who would know? Oh yeah, he redrilled the access hole too. And put a ring around the outside to increase the flange diameter to gain more meat outboard of the new stud holes.
SOHC
2005 ssangyong musso has a low brake peddle, the owner took it to a mechanic who had it for a month and couldn't find the problem. Anyone have an idea?

SOHC
I reckon its tapered brake rotors, as it happend after he put in new pads would a faulty ABS system cause a sinking low peddle?
AllTorque
So get the rotors skimmed

governorsam
Soft brake hoses, can flex/expand. Grab the hose and get someone to stomp on the pedal. If you can feel it, its fucked. Happens a lot on old bikes, old cars. And shitty lines.

AllTorque
Get some brake hose clamps. Put one on each hose. See if you get a firm pedal. If so, get a friend to release the clamps one by one. If the pedal drops you know where the problem is. If you don't get a firm pedal with clamps on the problem is before the hoses.
Transom
How many abs systems have to be plugged into a dealer computer to cycle the abs system while bleeding ? A few I have heard of
SOHC
I am not sure what the shop did but they had it for over 3 weeks and couldn't fix it, We will try clamping off different parts of the system, but yes It may need some factory equipment for bleeding
governorsam
Clamping can fuck hoses. If you go too tight. Just enough to stop the pressure. Like having to stop mid stream while having a piss to write your name in the snow. Too much clamping will do damage.
Raizer
Another ABS question/oddity. I've had my van's brake pedal try and kick back a few times, weird hard pulse in the pedal and the brakes seem to pulse with it, the harder you try and push the pedal to stop the harder it kicks and the brakes lose power. Only seems to happen when either I've got a shitload of grass in the trailer of I've got no weight but I'm going downhill and have to brake hard/downhill in the wet. Thinking it's possibly related to the proportioning valve I assume it has in the rear.
Mof
Sounds normal Especially with no weight in the back, would be easy for a back wheel to lose traction
Mof
If you tweaked the proportioning valve to give more brakes to the back, I bet it would get worse/more often
Raizer
Mint, have only had one other car with ABS and I don't think the Altezza has any sort of proportioning valve lol. Normal it may be, but shit it can give you a fright!
Mof
And I'm assuming you mean a load sensing type valve
Raizer
Yeah I'm assuming Toyota stuck one under Super Customs like they did with trade spec HiAces, just haven't actually had a look yet
