Tender Raisin
Thanks guys, Yeah harder springs and new shocks are on the cards for a few months time. Was just curious about them.
Muncie
I found pairing air shocks with a second set of shocks gets the best of both worlds. I tucked a kyb up the guts of the springs of my triumph and used the air shocks in stock position to lift the bum when loaded with lads/beer to stop the dog with worms look. You also need a valve for each shock or air will shoot over to the other side making the car keel over when you chuck it into a corner. Seedy Al
Are Toyota F series Torsen LSD's any good for static burnouts and donuts?
Roman
Nah they suck
kyteler
Surely they'll do alright for donuts? I haven't done any proper standing cooling system load tests in the sebben (which also has a torsen) but I may have flicked it around and around several times and it did that with ease. Seedy Al
yeah I just wanna know if I should invest $250 into to something will let me do donuts and twin spinners, shit aint no drift car.
Spencer
Na once you get wheels spin they suck, it's the nature of the design. For general traction out of corners and such they are excellent, you need some clutches for skid work.

Steelies
who buys a diff for traction, jees
cute wee gem
GX71 did sweet skids with altezza torsen. Better than the shitty G series clutch pack in the 81 (which is shimmed and had the preload spring modified) Mind you, 195/45/15? vs 255/35/18 probably makes the difference. Just lock it

cute wee gem
I should add that my memory is terrible. But I'm 97.3% sure that's how I did it.
Seedy Al
ok, well...... I might purchase one and see what happens, Should probably get the slipping clutch issue sorted out first tho. other wise its all shudder skids or clutch plate skids
Yowzer
Oh well if it's bolt in then I might have to get one. My diff is getting clunkier by the day

Bling
If I want to cool down an auto 4wd (3SGE Rav4) when towing, will just mounting a small trans cooler be a good idea? It never went above half way on the temp gauge, but at idle the fan would switch on and off, so it must be getting warm. Plan to tow a bit in the next 6 months, but if i'm wasting my time in this situation with a cooler, I won't bother. Factory it just runs into the engine rad. Any other suggestions on easy ways to keep things cooler?
AllTorque
Fitting a Trans cooler is a good idea to keep your Trans happy but won't change the coolant temp much. Just make sure the radiator has no blockages and the coolant is good.
Roman
Speaking of fitting a tezza diff in a X70, how does ya? Pretty easy if you're wanting to retain your existing crownwheel and pinion, just swap them over to new diff. The tricky part is setting the bearing preload correctly because the IRS unit uses shims instead of the rotating thingys on the live axles. You cant really swap over the whole carrier though because everything is different. It may very well be that if you use the same crown wheel and pinion that the existing shims are okay though. If not I'd take it to a diff shop because it's a pain in the balls trying to get that setup. You can make a torsen more aggressive by using a thicker oil in it. I think there is also a way you can add more preload to the internal wizard magic to push it harder against the housing for less slip. But cant remember.
flyingbrick
The fan will turn on and off at idle because you ain't moving and so there's no airflow. It's normal IMO
