63Ragtop
Haha, funny clocking cars you know but never met the owner, I've seen you beast around over the years, parked down the concourse sometimes and around the place. Have always wanted to get the front a little lower, but now I don't know, I'm happy with it.
Ash Kelly barr
Haha yeah true. Saw sheepers in his ra23 that same day actually seriously though, it does sound epic. Not what I expected from a beetle

63Ragtop
No trailer Queens! Pretty interesting driving something like this every day, had some girl taking photos of me/the car next to me in traffic today, well, I think she was, couldn't hear a god-damn thing she was saying!
CarolsHusband
@63Ragtop Do you know/have you bothered working out what MPG or L/100KM or quarts per acre you get out of that engine ? We're going on our hols (prolly about 700 miles) and I'm wondering if I should stick with the 1200 at a slow 40 mpg or put the 1641 in for jolly japes, skidz and many fuel stops. Thank you from Shuzzy, aged 51.
63Ragtop
Sorry mate, I got no numbers, but I also have no gas gauge. I would say use the best engine you have, no reason a wee 1200 won't do it, might just take a while longer.
CarolsHusband
It's going to be a Brubaker Box, is it ? Go on, put a Brubaker Box there.
63Ragtop
Am going to attempt to install an interior plus some kind of noise insulation so I can hear myself think, Jesus Christ its loud in there! Also fancy new reel up seatbelts and see if I can get the ragtop to actually work.
CarolsHusband
Oh, ok, that's good too. They are bloody noisy, are they any better with stock exhausts and interiors ?

63Ragtop
No, nothing up there, it's on the list. Need to find something that won't hold moisture and cause rust like the factory did in the late 70s.

Could have a conversation at highway speeds, very hard in mine, keeps the kids quiet!
kyteler
Is your tyre rubbing on your exhaust there, bud? Probably not helping it stay fitted too well.
63Ragtop
Yeah they rub on the edge of the body mount as well, always have. Fine once tyre has self clearanced. Just shaves the lettering off. Old drums did many miles with no problem for good old German steel. Edit: you probley right, shoulda bought 195s instead of the 205s. kyteler
I was thinking more that the pressure on your exhaust is potentially causing some of your issues there?
