Finish the damn thing Kerry, leave it too long & you might break a hip lifting the box down from the loft.

I sorted the steering wheel out. I just couldn't leave it. Sadly, that's all I've achieved. There's only an hour or two left to get it done but the big stuff's getting in the way. I had a moment of clarity though and did the only obvious thing I could to remedy this life/modelling balance. I bought this. And this I'm pretty sure I now have a 'stash' that will last me about 10 years at this rate.

* And before anyone says it.... Yes, the steering wheel rim is the wrong way round. Though not according to the instructions. I tried to put it together the right way round but it's moulded to fit like that so I gave up. / I'll probably drape a dead racoon across it or something.

I'm running out of both at the moment ! Nearly there, it's turning into a bit of a long haul. Interior compost started... Kinda wishing I'd done the car silver but I'm hoping it'll all come together once the final weathering is done.

In my experience, tell them they're not allowed to.

On the few occasions that I question the worthiness of this pastime, I console myself that at least I'm not playing golf.

I've always fancied that, maybe I'll wait until my 80's. I remember the 1970's Tamiya catalogues made good use of bonsai. I have an actual natural one in a pot, a Cedar pod that had grown on a mossy rock that my dad rescued. He also had a Beech that grew out of a log but it karked it one hot summer. I have been looking into making trees for a couple of diorama ideas. Watch this space ?

Made a start on the bodywork. Planning on going for the ' parked under a pine tree' effect ultimately so it's mostly a waste of time. /a bit like my phone //pics

Spent some time messing up the body & chopping bits off. @Lord Gruntfuttock, I bottled it (again) on accident damage but I'll get to it some time Found an ancient aerosol tin on the shelf. Looked like a pretty good 50's Caddy type colour. Weathering, rust & detritus to follow. /Pics /TOTP

Too late for the Waxoyl.... Bodywork next !

....That and the fact they've some bloody front, obviously. / quick, somebody do some models.
-
German description. They had two fronts. Western front was through Belgium & France, Eastern front was against the Russians & Romanians and ran from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. /Or thereabouts.

Okidoki. Commencement of the 1/24th-ness Also, the dogs kicked off about an hour ago, went out to the gate and the PBY had landed. According to the delivery text it was " In the front porch"... To answer @Alfashark, yes, it comes with beaching gear, but I haven't got the space to have it beached. pic. It's a big bastard. 500 cc Coke bottle 4 scale. Nice.

Please excuse my re-quote but that's an interesting point & one that rates up there with 'How rusty would vehicles actually be during WW2 ?' 1940's steel doesn't really rust very fast, it was much more likely to get blown up. My truck never saw conflict, but it helped build the Alaska Highway & then spent 30 or 40 years as a county truck and yet only really has damage along the sides & floor of the tipper body and a bent bumper. It wasn't pretty, but it wasn't fucked either. /pic

Thanks, your Lordship. I should have done just that, but I bottled it. It basically involves either heat, (which is as you rightly say risky ) or removing the areas to be damaged & replacing with thin foil which acts & reacts more like metal. Also, sanding the plastic so it's paper thin gives a bit of flexibility but again, the potential to bolloks it all up is there. I have chosen my next victim & will be attempting to go full decay on it. It's a kit I've had for maybe 35 years but never got round to it. It's 1/24th scale too so I'm hopefully lowering my chances of getting chucked off this thread.

Well, I think I just managed to pull it out of the fire. Just. The curse of the ICM kit I reckon. A little bit more tweaking and it'll be there. I might have to do a little diorama with some old crap lying around for the full effect. Anyway, a couple of pics Some of it I'm really pleased with, some not so much. Practice makes perfect. Guess I'll just pile the crap against the bits I'm not so keen on. Chur.

I think I could live with that... Anyway, that's a while down the list yet. Think I've managed to mess the truck up n'all. *sigh*

I have no idea. My plan is to hang it off the ceiling anyway but I do like me a 30's Flying Boat. Maybe get a 5A at a later date & build a Black Cat....

Also..... All this vehicle stuff is not my original childhood passion. It was planes all the way when I was a nipper. Just won this 3 minutes ago on eBay for very cheap. My fave prop plane ever in 2 foot wingspan 1/48th scale. / Niiiiiice.....

Thanks ! The plastic is grey so that meant I didn't need a primer. Red first, masked up the white but took the tape off while it was still a bit wet so it left ragged edge in places. Once dry, I sanded it back on the sharp edges and generally across the surface. A few scrapes with the knife at various angles. Then dry brushed first in silver, again mostly on the edges. Finally, three different shades of rust (from a Vallejo acrylic set) built up on the silver & grey bits. I was going to do a couple of scrapes of blue or yellow but thought I'd better stop before I bolloocks'd it all up. That's about it, try it out on a bit of spare something as a practice piece ? That's what my Bergepanther Recovery tank was s'posed to be but I was well pleased with it in the end. / self indulgent pics for Fred
